Round 2 Goes To Kyle Orton

The Bears say that the QB battle between incumbent Rex Grossman and challenger Kyle Orton would be even and I have not doubts that the Bears will select whoever it is they think can do the best job.  This time it could mean both Coach Smith's and GM Angelo's job, so I don't think they are going to stick with this loyalty to Grossman if they think Orton is the better QB.

In OTAs Orton was the first of the two to work with the #1 offense.  Most didn't think this meant anything and said wait until training camp.

Now it has been announced (I  misplaced the link, I am looking for it) that Orton would open Training Camp and get reps with the first team on day one and then it would switch to Rex on day two and so on.

this might be

the worst post ever.

that means absolutely nothing. this thing is going till preseason. you said it yourself that this decision might cost jobs and it surely wont be decided in shorts.

Just like i think every other offensive position is up for grabs through preseason.

This is relevent if only because

It sounds as though they are favoring one over the other. There is no coin flip this time, Kyle Orton is getting first crack. Even if they still go every other day with the reps every little bit of news on who is ahead in the second week in July is newsworthy, because by all accounts the NFL is dead right now.

Lovie Smith-isms:
"We get off the bus running"
"Rex Grossman is our quarterback."
"...and we'll go from there."

also relevant...

because its evidence that the Bears are not handing the starting job to Grossman on a silver platter.

were you drunk when you wrote that

because i think that was that worst post ever.

you are being charged with a TUI.(typing under the influence).

Its kind of like everyone raving about brandon lloyd. Alot of guys look good in shorts and look horrible in pads. I hope lloyd turns out to be a stud for us but a 7-9 football team needs to see the boys in action in some games before anyone is ranked atop the depth chart.

The only time it will matter who gets on the field 1st is in indy.

So whadya think of his post?

Really, be honest.

I'm not so mean. I wouldn't ever go out to hurt anybody deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something. - Dick Butkus

Even if this post was only 3 words long, it would be excellent.

(Rex NOT Starting)

Any indication that Rex Grossman isn’t going to see the field should be seen a blessing.

Interesting...

The “Stars of 2008” video on ChicagoBears.com has an Orton TD pass but no Grossman highlights

Probably nothing… the 3rd string editing dude getting 9.95 an hour probably slopped jelly from his doughnut on Grossman’s name and didn’t see it on his list.

But still interesting.
