Peyton Manning out 6 weeks

Peyton had an infected bursa sack removed from his knee.  Will be out 4-6 weeks.  He'll play against da Bears, but might not be 100%.  Some REAL news!  If his mobility (what little he had) is afffected, then the Bears pass rush could get after him and cause trouble.  Now, all we need is for Dwight Freeney to stay on the shelf and Bob Sanders to go down in the preseason and we'll have a chance....maybe.

If Manning doesnt play that game

the Bears could (will likely) win that game. That is pretty big, considering how bunched up the division will be this year and everyone else having to go through a Peyton-lead Colts team.

Oh ye of little faith...

I want a fully healthy and functioning colts team on wk 1. Not only can we beat them and send notice to the rest of the league but if we lose and still be competitive it can fuel us through the rest of the season like the ravens game in 01. We will lose if we defeat a crippled colts team ,in the leagues eyes. I truly believe tommie harris and mike brown to be the answer to peyton manning. A pass rush and good safety play , thats his cryptonite

That's true

But TH and MB have to make it out of training camp and preseason healthy….

Ugh

too…much…optimism…

IMO, I don’t care if we “lose” in the leagues eyes if we defeat a crippled Colts team , it’s still a win over a playoff team in my eyes, anyway you put it.

Exactly. And what if they get crushed by a healthy-Manning-led team?

Moral victories are for little league through college football. In the NFL, a win is a win is a win.

I want him to play

I’d rather see the Bears beat him when he’s playing at less than 100%. The defense is going to jazzed up and ready to prove last year was a fluke. It’s going to be a tight game with a field goal winning it at the end.

D will show up, but what about O?

Defense will be motivated, no doubt. I’m still nervous about No. 8 taking the helm again….

i would like to think

that this gives us the odds….

but peyton manning could play in a wheel chair and still beat us to the ground

no shit

the people thinkjing he should be around so we can beat him the right way are delusional. the only way we win that game is with him hurt.

I truly think

that Chicago attracts the dumbest sports fans in the country. I don’t even think it is close. Although, I just read the game thread from the All-Star game on BCB, LORD have mercy on their souls.

Ugh

Don’t get me started on BCB. They’re just a bunch of douches.

I don’t know if we’re the “dumbest” sports fans (I mean we’re up there). I’d like to leave that title to New York fans, even if Jeter has something to say about it.

And the average White Sox fan...

...runs circles around the average/above-average Jets fan.

I live in NY part-time

And I agree with you 100%. Yankee fans drive me nuts! To me, they are almost worse than Patriots fans.

BTW: Manning will be there to open the season guys. Not to worry. He’ll be there to torch your butts once again.

Also, nice signing with Kevin Jones. Forte and Jones (along with AP 2) give you a nice backfield. Didn’t I tell you guys you didn’t need Cedric Benson? That you’d forget him real quick? Can I get a Bear hug?
