Urlacher agrees to new deal

According to sources, Urlacher and the Bears have come to terms on a revised contract, which includes a one-year extension, thus ending their offseason contract squabble.
Urlacher, 30, had four years and approximately $25.5 million remaining on his contract. Under the terms of the upgraded deal, Urlacher will receive a $6 million signing bonus along with a $1 million bump in salary each of the next four years. The sides also have agreed to extend the pact into 2012, at a salary of $7.5 million. Urlacher can earn an additional $500,000 in a workout bonus in 2012.
That's a total of roughly $43.5 million over the next five years, with $18 million in new money for the six-time Pro Bowler and four-time All Pro.

Good, now Williams please
Why did it take so long for Urlacher and his people to see that the Bears offer was fair and nice? Come on it took him since what, May to finally come around and realize that he was too big a risk for anything more than 1 more year and a few more mill?
Bold Prediction: Orton will be the starter in week 1.

Know your facts.
The Bears gave him an extra million up front on what their latest offer was to make it “fair and nice”. Why is the vast majority on this blog so anti-player?

i think its
anti-person with money who is bitching.
i don’t recall a lot of owner sympathy in sports land when they talk about being hard strapped either.

Touche
But still, $1 mil is what kept the parties seemingly so far apart all offseason? Now I am a little bit more ticked at the Bears for waiting so long to give in the last mil. Whatever the case is, this was a ridiculous stand off from either side. You should admit as much too. Yes I see both sides of it but come on, the Bears have higher priorities and Urlacher had a lot of years left. Why are you so anti-other members?
Bold Prediction: Orton will be the starter in week 1.

I definitely do see it as stupid from both sides.
I’m glad both capitulated. It’s a win-win. Stephen Covey would be proud. Not all negotiations need to have a winner and a loser.

there is no chance
the bears sign bentley.
metcalfs broken hand made him look alot worse than he really is.
st clair looked good at that spot when metcalf couldnt go with his hand and beekman is being developed.
i dont see the point in bringing in another player when you have 2 maybe 3 guys capable of doing a great job.
