Bears Ready To Make A Move For Chris Simms?

In the thrid quarter of this past Saturday's game between the Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Chirs Simms stepped on the field and went 8/10 for 60 yards with a 91.7 QB rating.  Not bad for his first real playing time in the last 2 years.

Up in the press box two teams had scouts watched what was esentailly a try out for Simms.  The Cowboys and the Bears were those two teams.

I would have to think if it came down to a trade the Bears would put up more, since Dallas is solidified at the QB spot.  If Simms becomes a free agent, his choice has to be Chicago if he wants the best chance of being a starter soon.

Is it really sad?

That I’m actually really excited by this potential happening?

At least it would solve the problem of the QB's blind side

While I don’t necessarily see Simms as an upgrade, since he’s a southpaw he’d have Tait at his natural position at RT guarding his blind side. But I really don’t think he’ll be of much help this year, just insurance.

Simms was kicking ass in Tampa until his spleen tried to kill him

Dude almost dies trying to win one game for a team, and their fans throw him out like last weeks paper. South Florida fans are really the worst when it comes to loyalty, whether it be to a team [cough/USF/cough], a coach [cough/Dungy/cough], or a player [cough/Simms/cough]. Anybody got a coughdrop for a Bears fan in Tampa?

get him!

I’d take Simms over any of the bozos we have currently in a heartbeat. He’s not gonna be the savior, but he gives the team more hope than Grossman or Orton does.

if they do they may need to trade

so that he could hurry up and get in camp and learn the offence.

Yeah, Phil Sims

Why is no one mentioning how this guy doesn’t perform well in big games. He stunk in college when it counted. Did he overcome this weakness? I don’t remember amazing stats from him at Tampa. Potential, some flashes of leadership, and heart, but I don’t remember consistency or a great QB or great skills. He’s more of a manager like Orton, isn’t he?

Kick it to me... I'm open!

Are you saying that the joke is big and fat or that it is a big fat-joke?
