Tillman's daughter's heart transplant

Today, Charles Tillman finally discussed his daughter's medical ailment:

After being taken by helicopter to Children's Memorial Hospital in May from their Chicago home, Tiana spent three months in the hospital suffering from cardiomyopathy--an enlargement of the heart that prevents proper beating. After receiving a heart transplant in late July, Tiana, now 6 months old, was released to her home Monday, Tillman cheerfully announced.

"My daughter is alive and well and doing great," Tillman said. "Smiling and kicking and cooing, all that stuff 6 month olds are supposed to do."

Doctors said Tiana's treatment was also a historic medical achievement for the area, as the first child in Illinois helped by an experimental blood-pumping device, known as a Berlin Heart. The device, a series of tubes connected to the heart powered by pumps that sit outside of the body, helps patients survive long enough for a suitable heart donor to be found, said Carl Backer, surgical director for heart transplantation at the hospital.

Thankfully, it sounds like everything is ok. Here's hoping for no complications from the transplant.
