Bears Release 3 More!
The latest players cut from the Bears as they work toward their final roster are:
LB Michael Okwo
DB Leonard Peters
RB P.J. Pope
Peters and Pope probably never had a real chance to make the team, but the Okwo release is still a bit surprising. Okwo was a 3rd round selection just two drafts ago, for him to be let go now must say the Bears saw little to nothing from him.

Peters seemed to be getting a ton of snaps lately
I was hoping he’d make it… he hits like a mack truck.
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

Whats the count at now?
And does this mean that Rideau and Bradley stay? It also again shows the Bears drafting has gotten very hit or miss lately. Tyler Reed, Dan Bauzin and now Okwo all draft picks in the last 2-3 years, all gone, gambles not paid off or talent never seen.
Fire Angelo!!

Hit or miss...
…basically describes the NFL draft in general. If you ever start getting mad at Angelo take a look at all the other teams in the NFL and how their drafts have played out in the past few years and you will how successful Angelo actually has been. Those that like to bash him for Marc Columbo and Rex Grossman and Michael Haynes also need to do more research on who was actually making the decisions back then. Dick Jauron’s contract stipulated that he had full control of personel decisions. Jauron and Angelo had a very tense relationship and disagreed on almost all decisions. Jauron forced Angelo to make a lot of decisions he didn’t want to make. Michael Haynes was a Jauron pick, not an Angelo pick.
You know who’s Angelo’s first pick once Jauron was gone? Tommie Harris.

hahaha
Yeah, the drafting of Colombo and Grossman are why people are upset with him. Good one.
And yes, the draft is somewhat of a “crapshoot” (except for the part about not drafting a QB), but not to the really good GM’s and talent-evaluators. Angelo is proving he’s not one of those.

Columbo
Columbo was a disaster with the Bears, but given that he’s the starting RT for the Cowboys makes me wish we had hung on to him a little longer. We kept him through both knee surgeries and rehab, but after his first full season back he was cut in 2005. He went to Dallas, where his rehab approach was changed and now he’s a solid starter with a talented team, and he got a new contract. He shouldn’t be considered a bad pick. He is a good player on a very good team. It sure didn’t work with the Bears, partly due to bad luck, but partly due to Bears coaching/management

Ditto
I’m still a little peeved they spent so much time on him during his rehab only to see him start for the Cowgirls. It’s definitely in retrospect, but a tad more time time might have been the difference. Do you know what kind of changes were made to his rehabilitation?

Activity level
The Bears trainers had him on a “resting” program, letting his knee fully heal before stressing it. When he went to the Cowboys, Parcells said to get him ready, and the trainers put him on a more active rehab. The extra activity seems to have worked.

Also picked by Jauron
It’s a good point to bring up about Jauron & Angelo. The two drafts before Angelo took over brought the Bears the following players:
Charles Tillman, Lance Briggs, Alex Brown, Adrian Peterson, Ian Scott
Also Grossman & Terrence Metcalf, but they’re not really helping the argument

If we’re cutting guys that haven’t shown anything to the team with just over a year of experiance, why are we wasting a roster spot with Grossman and make a trade for somebody (like a Chris Simms, or even maybe a rookie that has shown promise, like a Colt Brennan, Dennis Dixon, Josh Johnson)? If we are cutting 2nd and 3rd round pick from within the past 2 years that have been too injured to step onto the field or haven’t had chance to play at all, why must we be tortured by the chance that Grossman could play for the Bears again?

He knows the system
That’s the reason why he wasn’t cut for Simms, or the other worthless QBs. His experience in Turner’s scheme, whether bad or good, was the deciding factor in Rexy staying on the team.
