Willie Anderson available
The Bengals released perennial pro bowl offensive tackle Willie Anderson today. Even though he isn't much of an improvement in making the Bears o-line any younger, he would make them considerably better until Chris Williams can return and contribute. Anderson has been to the Pro Bowl every year since 2003 and should seriously be considered by the Bears.
I like the thought of Chris Simms too, but it doesn't matter if the Bears have the best QB in the league, if the Bears can't run the ball and if the QB doesn't have the time to throw the football then the offense won't produce anything.

At this point
we need to at least consider all options.

??
I’m confused by this:
The Bengals released perennial pro bowl offensive tackle Willie Anderson today
No idea who this guy is, but why would they release a perennial Pro Bowl OL?

Cap or age
Are two obvious guesses. Why did they release Rudi Johnson too? He was still productive. The Bengals might be writing off this season or they think their younger players are going to step up.

Very true
The Bengals ARE the same organization that made Chris Henry a captain for their last preseason game. If some of you forgot, Henry was cut after his 50th arrest, then brought back after Ocho Cinco and TJ Houz went down. Pretty clueless group.
Sounds like both cap and age are the issues. Hopefully we go after him hard, but I’m not betting on it until I see it. We do have JA as a GM.

I'm
not sure what is going on there. Chad Ocho Cinco (officially!) better be ready to havea big season.

I really
hope we take a chance on him. He can’t hurt what we have.

as long as he's not done
we should absolutely go after him. if he’s at least mediocre-to-decent for this year, offer him a 2 year deal, with this year guaranteed. again, so long as he’s not substantially worse than he has been (age drop-off), he would be a big upgrade and would allow us to not rush it with williams. we could even put williams on IR, free up another roster spot, and sign another discard (simms, rudi johnson, chad jackson, etc.)

I don't see it
happening. The Bears seem to be in full-on rebuilding mode with no thought given to winning now. If the Bears were interested in doing anything to win now we’d have seen them sign some o-line help in the off-season. They are not going to pay someone like Anderson big short-term dollars when they are going to win 6 games max regardless.
DEJESUS!!!

Need to upgrade at left tackle!
If this guys got anything left it would be worth giving him a shot. John St. clair is a career backup, as is terrance metcalf…..sound like a recurring theme! The bears needed to take 2 heathly o-lineman in the first couple rounds of the draft. How can a running team count on a bunch of patch work o-linemann! If we can’t run the ball the defense will be on the field all game and furthwer exposed!
