Couple surprises

Pretty much what everyone expected, but just a couple things catch my eye.

First, we have 8 OL, one of whom is Chris Williams. I really think he should be placed on IR and go out and get another T. St Clair was a backup guard last year, and while he may have proved enough to start, he’s not the solution when the only backups is rookie Kirk Barton. Nobody knows how long Williams will be out. At least put him on PUP and get him after 6 weeks if he’s healthy. Typically teams carry 9 OL, at least the Bears have the past few seassons.

Second, I’m suprised to see Manning listed as a S instead of CB. What that really means is that we’re carrying 6 CB and 4 safeties. Lovie was adamant that the only position that Manning has played this preseason is Nickel CB. I know he can move back to FS, but this caoching staff is notoriously stubborn.

Pup not an option

Williams wasn’t an option for the PUP list because he was healthy entering training camp.

Labeling Manning as a safety is just a formality. As everyone knows he’ll be the nickel back this year, and won’t play FS unless the backfield is riddled with injuries.

FS/SS

Manning is the only other player who looks like he can play FS. I don’t think Payne or McGowan are anything but SS, maybe Steltz can play FS?

I can't recall

I can’t recall an offense, not just for the Bears but overall, in my 30 years on this planet, with so few people that can hurt you. Could this be a historically bad offense?

???

Can you at least let them play a game first before rushing to judgement? There’s no way they can be worse than last year’s dismal performance.
