Brett Wants To Be a Bear

So we have been arguing about QB's for 2 plus years here and now we have a HOF qb asking to play here.  I don't even know what to think about this, but here it is:

FOXSports.com has learned that multiple Packers executives are continuing to meet with Favre off-site in an attempt to resolve the situation.

Favre has told the team that he wants to be traded to either Minnesota or Chicago. But according to sources, it is believed the Bears have no interest and the Vikings appear to be a long shot as well.

So I thought we could debate this.

Let's answer the following questions:

What do you think the Pack would take for Farve?
If it meant winning the Superbowl this year, would you take Brett?
Do you think that Jerry Angelo is considering making an offer?
What would you predict our record with Brett at QB?

Now I realize that many hate this thought, and I'm not a huge fan, but winning for a couple seasons with Brett and drafting a new QB as a backup doesn't sound as bad as it use too.  Who is really a huge Rex or Orton fan here?

only the nfc north huh? weird
What do you think the Pack would take for Farve?

too much to do us much good, we’ll need those picks again i would bet. if he had a running game i’d say go all out. of course, the pack had no running game a lot of last year, but i don’t think we have the coaching staff to pull that scenario off.

If it meant winning the Superbowl this year, would you take Brett?

absofuckinglutely.
Do you think that Jerry Angelo is considering making an offer?

probably not, his boys are in make or break years.

What would you predict our record with Brett at QB?

better than what it will be. at least the threat of pass would back some people up.

I still don't know what to think.

I mean, he’s a great QB, but as torch said, I don’t want the antichrist in our backfield. Just wouldn’t look right. Now, if he’d take us to (and win) the Super Bowl and get us two wins over GB, then I’d say hell yeah.

antichrist?

favre beat our ass for a long time, but he’s no rodman, belle or edmonds.

To a Bears fan...

...he’s the epitome of evil. Very true on the three you mentioned. But think about it….the exact guy that has been beatin our ass like a redheaded step child for 13 years in our backfield? The world just wouldn’t be right.

i wouldn’t give a shit as long as he didn’t suck. which he very much could.

by the way

We would also probably get the 29 interception in a season Brett from a couple of years ago, because we don’t have the same talent on offense as Green Bay and he would have to learn the system and timing with the Bears receivers

It would be plain stupid

to trade a high draft pick for Favre. We’re in no place to contend this season. If they really wanted to win, they would have done more in the offseason to replace Berrian than bring in Booker. No way they should even think about getting him, unless he gets released (I’m still iffy on this one).

I doubt the Packers get a high pick.

People have to pay his salary and know they have at best 2 seasons with him. I bet they haven’t had an offer for a 3rd rounder from Tampa or the Jets yet. Probably 6th rounders and that is why a deal hasn’t been done yet. Everyone knows GB is in trouble and has to unload him. No one is going to give them a good pick. No one.

Answers to the Questions:

What do you think the Pack would take for Farve? Too much, a first rounder but no one would give that so probably a 2nd and a 4th or two 2nds or a conditionary 3rd and a 5th
If it meant winning the Superbowl this year, would you take Brett? Yes, I hate to say it but yes
Do you think that Jerry Angelo is considering making an offer? No, he knows that is giving up too much in the future.
What would you predict our record with Brett at QB? With our receivers and unknown running game/line? At best 11-5, but no worse than 8-8.

Bold Prediction: Orton will be the starter in week 1.

Thanks for answering the questions.

I was curious about other people’s opinions on these.

If it meant winning the SB. YES.

But seriously… do you think we can win the SB with Favre at QB? If Favre is QB and offensive coordinator: yes.

orton starting thursday?

maybe…

7:02 p.m. Kyle Orton is running with the first team, likely a good indication he will start Thursday’s game. As the team rehearsed pregame introductions, Orton came out with the first team.

http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/huddleup/2008/08/bears-camp-da-1.html

now if they do it again tomorrow with grossman who knows.

by mike b on Aug 5, 2008 7:09 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I think that Orton will get the home game and Grossman the away game.

They don’t want Grossman getting booed at home. Game 3 they will have the guy they are anticipating winning the job start. If he still looks like the best he will start game 4 and the season opener. If not they might second guess themselves. Game 3 should be an indication of who is really currently the favorite to win the job.

if they are doing that

because they thinks it a factor, then they need to cut him. think he wasn’t booed in the sec? or already enough the last year?

come out and actually play well and you won’t have to worry about it. drop the snap like last year and good luck.

Is your question real?

Of course I’d want him! Angelo, Lovie, Turner, me, you, and everyone should be ashamed of not wanting Favre. At least give them a call and see if they’d take a 2nd rounder for him. Give up a 1st if it’s not enough. Favre had one of his best years last year in his entire career. There’s no denying that, or the fact that the Pack had a lot of unproven players on offense last season. It’s not like they’re mortgaging the future since the Bears offensive 1st round picks have all been complete busts (Olsen’s jury still out of course). I think the Bears record with Favre would be 11-5 or 12-4. I believe their defense is going to rebound big time this year. With that said, he would make them into instant SB contenders with a little help from the injury bug (or lack thereof).

Yes, it would definitely be an upgrade over either of the QB options now,

But we don’t know what Favre we’re getting. It could be the Favre of last year, but it doesn’t look like it would be since training camp has been going for a while and Favre would have to adjust to the new playbook and new teammates. Also, he wouldn’t have as strong of an offense to work with as he did last year.

fuck favre

only fantasy football types and those who aren’t thinking this throught would think bringing diva favre to the bears is a good idea, for the many reasons outlined above. however, i have a slim hope that there will be a trickle down effect that could help out the offensively-challenged bears. speculation is abound this morning that fagre is gonna go to tampa, in which case hopefully a deal can be worked out for old yet still mobile jeff garcia. im a rex apologist but garcia would be a big upgrade over what we have now behind center. at least jeff could avoid some of the nasty rush that is sure to embarrass our beleagered line this year. as long as he can do enough to prevent opposing d’s from ganging up on our running game we may be able to score more than 10 points a game (hopefully)

Figured I might as well answer the questions

What do you think the Pack would take for Farve?
- Too much for our own good. Probably a 1st rounder and a player to be named later.

If it meant winning the Superbowl this year, would you take Brett?
- That’s the only way I’d take him.

Do you think that Jerry Angelo is considering making an offer?
- I doubt it. He’s got two QB’s now, and Favre will only be decent for two more years.

What would you predict our record with Brett at QB?
- Around 11-5 or 10-6

I'M A MAN! I'M 22!

No way

Nope.No thanks. No.Anybody here know any packer fans? You wanna listen to shit like ‘the only way you could win was with a packer’, not I.He will retire as a packer. He will retire a packer. That’s what he is I don’t want a SB win with a packer I’ll take anything else.I sure appreciate what hes done but he ain’t a Bear. No fuckin way.

hit him in his earhole

Well I guess not

It seems like he didn’t really want to come to the Bears that badly. With the NYJ he’ll change the dynamic a bit in that division. Hopefully this means the Pats won’t rollover the entire division again.

He did want to come to the Bears. He strongly wanted to go to Minnesota or Chicago.

The problem was that neither team was interested in him. Now I don’t know if they offered crap for him and Green Bay was like no way or if they just straight up said no, but the only serious offers were from Tampa and NY and it appears that NY was more attractive to GB. Maybe it was the conditions on the pick or the idea that he was in the AFC. I’m sure Tampa made as strong of a move as they felt they could.

Man the Jets are a brand new team. What an offseason!
