Bears Hit Bottom, Ask Miller To Come Back

In case the Bears forgot the offensive line last season, well it sucked.  Becuase of that the Bears released tackle Fred Miller.

Faced with a lot of injuries the Bears have reached out to the former Bear to make a return.

Agent Harold Lewis said Miller, 35, is mulling whether to sign with the Bears, Texans or Ravens. The decision could be finalized in the next day.

"His preference would be to return to the Bears," Lewis said Thursday evening.

Miller was released in February for salary cap reasons. He was heading into the final two years of his five-year, $25.5 million contract. He was due a $500,000 bonus on March 1 and scheduled to make $4 million this season.

The article goes on to say that this will allow the Bears to move John Tait back to left tackle.  John St. Clair,  Josh Beekman and Anthony Oakley would all get looks at left guard.

Maybe I should take this opportunity to remind the Bears there is a guy who would be a better pickup still available.  I don't think I really need to mention names...AGAIN.

They're such a bunch of morons. It disgusts me.

They plan their whole season around a rookie LT. Then, as one should expect, they stay mum the whole time he was hurt… even though you know, and I know, that missing that many days of training camp was a major caution sign that there was a serious injury.

They could have moved Tait back to LT 13 days ago, and let St. Clair play RT… and start forming the chemistry that a line needs.

But, instead… here we are calling Fred friggin Miller. Unreal. I’m not sure who’s the bigger loser in this situation: Us fans, all of the Bears QBs, or John Tait (who’s forced to play out of position once again).

My solution: hire a Co-GM. Someone who knows more than a lick about offense. Because our current management doesn’t know dick.

Why don’t they just leave Tait at RT…. and let St. Clair play LT? If that’s the way the planned to do it while Chris Williams was out to begin with… then why are they changing the whole damn thing up? Such morons. They have no friggin clue. Seriously. No clue.

They also drafted a tackle this year: Kirk Barton from Ohio State. Why don’t you give that kid some reps at RT? They were planning on opening the season with a rookie at LT, so what’s the friggin difference?

I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

Right with ya

We went a whole offseason without doing shit to our old, porous O-line, and here we are. The highs of training camp and possibly looking toward an offense that would be better just went out the window. Now that same old empty feeling is in my chest.

I agree 100%

and if feels good to agree about something. Why is it that everyone of us saw this all offseason and griped and complained for months, but these professionals that are paid to fix this team didn’t see how poor the depth on this line was? We essentially have only 3 real starters and the other guys are apparently not even backup quality.

Kick it to me... I'm open!

Big difference

The reason is Barton was a 7th rounder with limited mobility, while Williams is a prototypical LT with great agility and intelligence. The difference is like comparing the sun and the moon. Without the sun there is no life, and without the moon no one cares.
