Bears Trade For Dan Buenning
It seems like as soon as I am just ready to open up a good can of rant on the Bears for not addressing some particular need, they make a move.
The Bears have traded for Dan Buenning from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The left guard came to the Bears for an undisclosed 2009 draft pick.
To make room on the roster, the Bears waived rookie cornerback Zackary Bowman, a fifth-round draft pick from Nebraska. The trade is contingent on Buenning, a 26-year-old Green Bay native, passing a physical.
Buenning was a 16 game starter as a rookie. His second year he started 9 games before tearing his right ACL. The Bucs picked up two more first round linemen, Devin Thomas and Arron Sears, making him despensable.
I'll work on getting some more info from our Bucs blogger, if anything else this gives the Bears depth. With second year man, but first time starter Josh Beekman currently at that position and Terrence Metcalf coming off an injury and not really being a quality full time answer this is a good move.
Thanks to thecoolest for first pointing this one out.

Injured players
is it me or what, but it seems like every we pick up on offensre is coming off some type of injury even our draft picks. Well I guess we will all have our answers come sunday night. The more I think about it, I like it, having to start off with a powerhouse like Indy; this will really test our offense and find out if Hatie figured out a way to motivate our defense. One things for sure that soft zone defense will not work with a quarterback like Manning and thier receivers. Does Hatie know it’s a good idea to watch old video of teams that beat Indy and what their defensive schemes were? One things for sure, we not winning that game if we are not blitzing and getting Manning out of that pocket. Well, hope for the best!

I completely agree
Not blitzing Manning is a big mistake (see SB loss), because he’ll just nickel and dime you until they eventually score and wear out the Bears defense. Make him move out of the pocket and take your chances with him throwing on the run.

Bucs' philosophy
The article about Buenning made me angry, and here’s why: the Bucs had a pretty good O-line last year, but did they rest on their laurels? Nope, they drafted TWO more guys, and one of them turned out to be really good. THAT’S how you make a good football team better.
For all the crap we hear about the Bears being a running team, they’re done VERY little to upgrade the position group that’s far and away the most important to the running game. Instead, they throw more draft picks at the defensive line, and what do we get? The 28th-ranked defense.

hahahahah
yeah, good thing they drafted Bowman. I mean, he could be a starter, right? No need to take a flier on a QB because they got real starting talent here. whoo hoo!!!
this team is an effin’ joke.

I'm agreeing here.
I thought the same thing. Also, to be honest Leonard Peters outplayed Steltz from what I could see in the games. I think they only kept Steltz over Peters for PR reasons. That’s my opinion, but if I’m right that is another “starter” we didn’t get from the draft and they were both defensive guys!!
Kick it to me... I'm open!
