Weigh in on Bradley
Unlike WCG, I'll post my quick opinion. But, we might as well see what you think.
Does the move come as a surprise? Hell yeah it did. However, he didn't play a role with the team this year. He had zero catches for zero yards. I know we can all blame it on Turner's schemes and this, that, and the other, but he wasn't doing anything for the team. If he catches on with a new team and turns into an elite receiver, then I'll retract my statement. I doubt that happens. The bottom line is that they wouldn't drop Bradley without a reason. We can guess what that reason is, but unless one of you are Jerry or Lovie and have been teasing us this entire time, we have no idea what it is.

The almost-nfl universe is overflowing with mediocre wide receivers.
I’d be very surprised if the perpetually injured Mark Bradley makes it onto any other team’s active roster.
He was a reach when the Bears drafted him, and he remains a reach today.
My answer: It’s barely a blip on my radar screen.

I can't believe we held on to him this long

Good move
How can there be 7 fans who think it was a bad move? What don’t you understand about zero catches for obviously zero yards? The guy the Bears picked up broke up two 3rd down passes against us on Sunday. I’d say he’ll be more helpful than Bradley. Potential is for players who don’t have the mental capacity to play at a NFL level.

I don't think cutting him is a bad move.
I just don’t understand why they didn’t cut him two weeks ago to make room for Fred Miller… instead of cutting a rookie RT (Kirk Barton), who they definitely would’ve been worth keeping, given the state of our offensive line. Parcells signed Barton in less than 24 hours after we cut him.

good comment
That would make the real comparison one between Barton and Marcus Hamilton.
And interestingly enough, I’d say that through the first three games the Bears need more immediate help in the defensive backfield than they do on the offensive line. Somehow, the O-line, which was the biggest question mark coming into the season, has pretty much held its own.
In that sense, this wasn’t an altogether bad move.

Consider this:
NOBODY wanted Fred Miller… except for us apparently.
Yet, Kirk Barton got signed in less than 24 hours after we waived him by none other than Bill Parcells.
Now… which player would you rather have on the roster… for a team that isn’t realistically a contender anyway?

Just to defend Miller
there was once other team that was trying to sign him.

huh?
How can you get any catches when you don’t ever get to play? Granted, he’s been frequently injured, but how many other injury-prone players have we kept around because of potential? Heck, we’re keeping Chris Williams on the roster even though he probably will do more harm than good when he is finally healthy (or if he is ever healthy). I think Bradley had a lot of potential as he did big things frequently when he actually got the ball. However, I’ve read that he’s a poor route runner and that management just didn’t like him, so maybe he has a poor attitude or something.
Regardless, I don’t know how the common fan can say he’s terrible when he hardly ever gets to play. Unlike Daniel Manning whom everyone seems to love who has been basically starting ever since he got here and has more than proved that he’s worthless. Oh well, glad to see Bradley go if they aren’t going to use him—hopefully he blows up for another team, but then again, if the Bears saw something in him during practice, then maybe he’d get to play more.

Think about it
There’s a reason why he hasn’t played. It’s because he flat out isn’t any good. Can’t run routes, is terrible out of breaks, and I’m sure his work ethic is in question as well. Typically if a player doesn’t see the field it’s for good reason. Did you also hear he went unclaimed on the waiver wire? I guess every other team in the league thinks he’s worthless as well.

Question then
we started him at safety. We then moved him outside to CB, because he had better speed than safeties normally do. So lets say he can’t play CB, he still would then be faster than any safety we have.
Are we just saying he doesn’t have the instincts to play the position or just doesn’t prepare correctly?

Don't you understand why he hardly ever got a chance to play?
Because he was garbage.

$10 says Bradley ends up in Seattle
They need receivers bad. That’s the only logical spot I can think of. Aside from that, he obviously hasen’t performed. A good player doesn’t get buried on the depth chart and be relegated to ST duty for no reason. He never stayed healthy and now he’s been healthy and hasn’t cracked a starting line-up of clearly mediocre talent. That leads me to the conclusion that he can’t perform. This guy we got sounds like he can contribute on ST and maybe get into the games as a nickel or in some other capacity.
Fire Ron Turner!!!
Fire Angelo!!

That's what I get out of it.
If anyone remembers, I was high on Bradley a year ago. I can admit mistakes. I’m glad Angelo can, too. Just wish the McCaskeys could admit mistakes and eat Angelo’s contract.
The McCaskeys didn't even hire him
They, under the direction of Ted Phillips, hired an executive search firm to find a GM! They paid thousands of dollars in services and commission to generate a list of names they could’ve gotten in the Sun-Times for 50 cents.
And, as of now… the McCaskeys are not involved in football operations. The only thing they do is sign checks.

has potential
I really liked him coming in as a rookie and thought he was better than berrian at the time. obviously injuries have been an issue. I assume the Bears weighted this long to release him so that he didn’t get onto another team early-enough to make a big impact this season with having to learn a new system of plays, etc.
i agree
in feeling he had better hands than Berrian. looked decent in yac. the injuries hurt. i feel he will get picked up and play well for another team. i noticed the comment stated zero catches for zero yards. how many balls were thrown to him? how many plays was he on the field?
show me the stats
hell i asked for a few stats on Bradley! glad you could help!
i stated my opinion, then i asked a couple questions. you in no way shape or form answered either question, nor did you show any “statistical analysis” pertaining to the topic. way to just boost your post count.
Angelo + First-Day Pick + Offense = Certain Bust
This is yet another in the long line of first-day picks for the offense Angelo has blown. Didn’t we elect to keep Bradley over an unheralded WR that exceeded expectations in training camp this year? What did they learn in the last 3 weeks that they didn’t know before the season started?
What’s worse is you can even throw a defensive player in there too: 2nd rounder Dan Bazuin anybody? Even 2nd rounder Danieal Manning goes from starting in the Super Bowl to only geting on the field when the starting nickel back goes out for the year (again).
I swear this team succeeds in spite of its GM. Maybe that should be “succeed” in quotes, given the 1-2 record. Losses in which the Bears vaunted defense – a unit into which Mr. Angelo has sunk a vast majority of the team’s money – gave up 4th quarter leads of 14 and 10 points.
Angelo is the bus driver on the road to mediocrity.

We can only name 1 guy - that doesn't really change Angelo's record
I can’t deny it’s been a great 3 games, and I hope Matt Forte breaks this curse. But it’s one guy and only 3 games. Measure that sample size up against weight of history and it’s fairly insignificant.

This has nothing to do with the topic above, but I didn't feel like making a Fanpost/shot.
Matt Bryant, the kicker for the Bucs that beat us on Sunday, had a tragedy occur in his family last night; his baby son died in his sleep. Although I didn’t like the guy for making us lose, I hope you will join me in praying for his son.

this bradley move is not being well recieved among players
heres a quote from tommie harris: “I don’t feel like he had a fair chance,” Harris said. "I feel like he just had his job taken from him.
“You know how it goes: He had a knee surgery, then he lost his job.”
the rest of the article is interesting… bradley apparently asked to be released in the offseason feeling that this was coming on but the bears elected to wait till now.
Better than his stats
I’ll bet he ends up being much better if he gets a chance on another team. Chicago isn’t know for developing young WRs. Look at Justin Gage, Bobby Engram, Bobby Wade, etc.
Bradley had stats?

What did Moose say in the off-season...
Something like Chicago is “where receivers go to die” (see Quote of the Week IV)

I really
like Bradley, and always wanted the team to use him. I’m glad they let him go, hopefully he’ll find a home somewhere. Turner never figured out that he had some speed. When he played good, he saw the bench for four weeks after.
