Packers-Bucs
As of this writing….it’s 20-7 Bucs with 6:00 left in the 3rd…Two things.
1. The Packers suddenly look very malleable.
2. The Bucs refound defense.
Heh.
I think your points are still largely correct. The Bucs are playing well (but I’ve noticed a lot of fighting today, too- have they been a dirty team all season?) and their defense is tougher than it was against us- they blew the long ball for the Packers’ second touchdown, and then Griese tossed them their third. Griese, to no one’s surprise, is nowhere near as good as we made him look, but the Packers aren’t a scary team. We always play them hard, and they look extremely beatable out there today. I fear every team in the NFC East more than I do Green Bay.

Whats on the menu tonight everybody?
I’ve got some philly cheese steak burgers, a sixer of a nice Porter by Great Lakes, Some leftover IPAs and I don’t have to work tomm (I’m a Social Worker so my schedule is a bit different)
overcooked them
by about a minute on the grill, but pretty good. the mac is kraft out of the box though…
World, meet the Southside White Sox.
ahh I had Kraft for lunch
I was hungover…
I also have tons of fresh caught fish (including sockeye salmon filets) my buddy sent me from Alaska (he took a teaching job on Kodiak Island)
Nice!
my hangover go to lunch is the A-Z spaghetti-os with meatballs

Haven't decided yet
Either a frozen pizza or leftover mostacholi and some High Life. Nothing like the Champagne of Beer.

I got some high lifes in the fridge as well
I may have to bust in too one or two, I love craft beers but I will also always drink the cheap stuff
Anyways the burgers were great… I couldn’t wait till game time
Either leftover pizza or chicken finger things...

Either Washington figured out how to make their offense work
or the Cowboys are as overrated as I’ve always thought they were.
14-7 at the moment w/ Skins at 2nd a goal. 3:00 left in first half.

Yeah
I’m just a cowboy hater.
Everytime they call themselves “America’s Team” I want to kick someone in the shins. What a crock.

You and everybody else outside a 10-mile radius of Dallas
My hubby (diehard Bears fan since birth) remembers first hating the Cowboys when they were a new team purely because of the pretentiousness of the “America’s Team” moniker.
May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.
yeah
they got thoroughly outplayed by the redskins.

I think a lot of Bears Fans take offense to the "America's Team"
Moniker, because we have always been America’s real team. We have been around longer and have a more storied history and have had better characters on our teams. (Ditka > Landry and if that isn’t enough, Halas > Landry).

Its just the smug factor
And the crowning of every Cowboy QB as the “greatest ever”.
Its just irritating.
And I loathe Romo so the pattern continues.

kind of hard to hate romo
i like the guy, he has what i wish grossman would have held onto, that cocky attitude that he is the best thing ever and his shit don’t stink. rex was like that at one point, he let chicago fans take that from him.
Romo is a good player
but I don’t think he’s anywhere near as good as everyone else does.
And until he wins something, I refuse to call him great.

i can't argue that
he disappears come playoff time, no doubt about that. i just can’t find it in myself to hate a guy who had pretty humble beginnings playing at a college like eastern illinois and has worked hard to get where he is. it is easier for me to hate a guy who has been given every opportunity and just doesn’t seem to give a shit (cedric benson, i’m looking at you)
Agreed.

i'd give it to the saints after katrina
but that is about it. it was hard not to root for them and if it gave people in the city even 3 hours of joy it was a good thing.
I understand that senitment
And don’t get me wrong, I felt/feel terrible for the residents of New Orleans (and pissed at the governments piss poor response) but still they really were not “my team” though I did like it when they won that year
exactly my point
obviously everyone has “their team” but that year i’d say everyone was probably rooting for them a little bit, as long as they weren’t playing against their team.
Haven't followed much
but I take it the Westbrook injury wasn’t very severe?
World, meet the Southside White Sox.
ESPN called it a "ankle strain"
Which isn’t “serious” in that it could be worse.

Should the Bears come out
and take care of business tonight, it will be a fantastic week what with the Pack, Vikes and likely the Cowboys going down.

I'm Looking For
A huge game from Marcus Harrison tonight. The 3-man rotation of Harrison, Dvoracek, and Idonije is something to keep an eye on. No Westbrook gives them more of an opportunity to “pin their ears back” even though Buckhalter is a receiving threat as well. I think the front 4 might finally get some pressure tonight.
oy
i’m awful nervous about this game. at least they don’t have westbrook but i have a feeling that’ll just make mcnabb pour it on and air it out on us and since charles tillman hasn’t been covering anyone and we don’t get much pressure that could be really bad.
also
can we please do away with faith hill singing the opening song, it is just freakin’ horrible. makes me long for hank williams jr.
yes

are they going to do this like last year against the giants. run no huddle offense for 1 series and score a td and then never ever use it again the entire year.
we have to play like that all day
we can’t get lazy and rest on the defense.
must keep the pressure on!
i'd kind of like
olsen to keep 2 hands on that ball but i won’t nitpick too much since he managed to hold onto it.
Things that the Bears have never done and already accomplished:
1) Blitzed (and were successful)
2) Went to no-huddle
3) Orton threw a pass over 15 yards (and hit his guy)
4) Scored in under two minutes
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
We've done 4 before
but Hester is usually involved.

Maddon/Michaels can shut up
he caught the ball with his left foot down, stop making an issue of it

they make a good point though
i’m surprised reid didn’t at least challenge it, i know i would have wanted the bears to take a chance and challenge something like that if the eagles completed it.

depends on how we do this year
i think if the team plays bad and we finish with something like 6 wins they might take a chance on him. if we play good and sneak into the playoffs then they’ll just stick to what they’ve been doing for a while now.
Yeah. I see no chance
of landing McNabb. Why would Philly ever give up a franchise QB? And if they did how much would it cost to land him?

had about a 20 yard pass to davis over the middle
and then a 30 somethin yard touchdown pass to olsen. both executed to perfection out of the no huddle offense.
this needs to be
more of a 24-14 game than a 38-35. It’s looking morelike the latter…
this defense
is going ot make us false start about 1000 times tonight.
i tell you what, i said the line made the back for the most part, that is not as true as i originally thought. same oline production, much better rushing.
man
love having a running back that can make some plays on his own and find the hole and not just take whatever the line gives him all the time.
no! according to people here running backs are all the same
only an offensive line can be good
I love having a back who picks up forward progress

that's what we need
if we can get dline pressure we will win this game.
Because punters have been pausing to angle away from Hester
We need to force them into just going for it. And proving we can block them would do that.

if you rely on special teams to win a game for you every time
you won’t win many games.
and thats why we won't win many games
the way our coaching staff has it formulated, we have zero margin for error.

There's magic in the ivy...
by halfblindcubbiegirl on Sep 28, 2008 8:15 PM CDT up reply actions
Punters are going away from Hester
which means they have to pause and angle away.
So we should block them (or attempt occassionally at least) to make them hurry up and “pitch” to our guy. Because they’ll be less likely to pause if we can block it.
The way our team is structured we need special teams to make big plays. Thats why they went for the block, IMO.

right on the money and right through his hands. at least he has all those escalators so he has to actually perform to get that number 1 receiver money.
sure
but i’d rather the line freakin’ block on a critical down like that and give orton time to either make a good throw or throw the ball away and preserve the 3 points.
i'd rather the offense stay on schedule
so we’re never in a 3rd & 11.

this is the one thing i hate about the cover 2
if the qb gets time there are plenty of holes in the coverage for the receivers to get into.
that is every d
there is not a defensive formation that can defend the pass after x amount of time.
true that
i’m just saying, we have a lot of money in our corners, maybe we should man up and let them make plays instead of just sitting in zones all day. mix it up a little bit.
i don't disagree
that they run the 2 too much. but i think the guys they have are only good at that. the poor line play for 2 years has not helped.
WHY IS HUNTER HILLENMEYER STILL PLAYING?!

nah
as long as we keep preaching good special teams our blocking should be good enough to give him plenty of chances to score. i’m not sure he’ll ever turn into anything at receiver, but i think he’ll continue to be a good return man.
