Good to be back

Sorry I've been away from the board but I have been busy.  But now that it's football season, I will be back.

I have been saying to anyone that will listen that the Bears will be better than expected and will compete for a playoff spot.  I told everyone 9 - 7.  I think tonight's game goes a long way to charge up this team and with a last place schedule, I like our chances.

The one issue that I think comes from this game

is that we are no longer the “easy team.” We won’t be able to sneak up on anyone.

Good news is, if we keep playing like this, it won’t be an issue.

would have liked

to see more pressure up the middle consiering how big the match up was supossedly in our favor, but manning gets rid of the ball pretty well anyway.

daniel looked pretty shitty couple times tonight.

I think we will be a "surprise" if you want to call it that

to night they ran the ball very well, Orton did not have any TO’s and the defense was hitting hard and making plays you cant ask more then that from your team.

I wish it were winter so we could freeze it into ice blocks and skate on it and melt it in the spring time and drink it!

The biggest question marks for the Bears

coming into the season was their offensive line and their defense and both played very well against a talented team. The Bears as a whole demonstrated more inspired and fundamental play that was missing from last year’s squad, and is the true reason to be optimistic for the rest of the season. The win against a quality opponent is important, but more important is the manner in which they got it (solid defense, running game, efficiency from the quarterback position) is the most inspiring aspect I take from tonight’s game.

The critical thing to understand is that major-league pitchers don't appear to have the ability to prevent hits on balls in play. There are many possible reasons why this is the case, and I don't really have a concrete idea as to why it is.

But the one thing I do know is that it is the case.

offensive line

the offensive line played very well?

by big_lowitzki on Sep 8, 2008 8:34 AM CDT up reply actions

i thought...

… that they played okay. They were good on the run, but just mediocre, at best, at protecting Orton.

by big_lowitzki on Sep 8, 2008 2:05 PM CDT up reply actions

really?

b/c last time I checked, Orton got sacked once, and was only pressured to throw the ball away maybe 3 times against a very good pass defense, prob one of the best in the league, dont be picky, good job o-line! keep it up!

really?

Because last time I checked, it isn’t just about sacks and throwing the ball away.

Further, it was two sacks, not one. And remember, they only dropped back to pass 24 times. And the pocket quickly collapsed on almost every single pass attempt.

Welcome back dude

I’m going to go out on the limb and predict a 10-6 season. I think our defense will be as good as 2006, while our offense will not lose games for us, the way Rex tried to give them away in 2006. The main difference between 2006 and this year is that our division is much better than in 2006.
