Is Reggie wayne brittle?

Did anybody but me notice that reggie wayne never really got tackled? he either ran out of bounds, or dropped to the ground right before he was hit. What a wuss.

This just a  humble thought, what do you all think. Should he have tried for more yardage, and had his head handed to him, or played it safe like he did .I personally would of chewed his butt if I was his coach, but thats me. How about you.

No

Wayne is just being smart. With so many injuries to the Colts this offseason, he was smart to ensure he wasn;t the next victim.

Gee you guys are sure taking your shots at the Colts today arent you? <_<

No, it is a finesse offense much like the Rams had about 4-5 years ago.

The idea is grab everything you can and avoid the hits. There is no reason to absorb hits at that position. Avoiding the hits will extend their careers. If more running backs would learn how to get down when they are about to get hit, they would probably add 1-3 years to their career. LT does this, Faulk did it, Sanders did it. These guys don’t take many big hits and it helps keep them healthier.

A "finese" offense

That ran for almost 200 yards on your team in a Super Bowl. Cut the finesse label, pal. It’s old and been proven wrong on countless occasions.

Wait

didn’t we criticize Benson for stepping out of bounds and not bullying his way through? Now we are saying not going for the extra yards is a good thing?

I think it is all relative

If your offense is Indy and you don’t have trouble getting yards, then by all means step out or go down.

If you are the Bears we need all the yards we can get.

benson

was supposed to be a bruiser. being a wide receiver and avoiding big hits is smart…being a 220 pound running back and avoiding hits from a cornerback, well, i don’t wanna say pussy…but yeah…pussy.

LOL

Last I checked, I could come in here anytime I wanted to talk about anything football related. It didn’t require your permission. And I am actually here to congratulate the Bears on a fine win. I wrote a FanPost on it. Then, I saw your comment, and had to respond.

Because, you know, the comment was completely full of shit.

Never said it did

And I saw your post after I posted my comment. I do apologize for that; I know what your intent was with your comment and I misinterpreted it.

But, please forgive me if I’m not too keen on you being over here. You’ve come on here and either bashed us or lauded over your superior knowledge. Lord knows that you’ll blow this out of proportion and tell me that I don’t know anything about football.

When I say finesse I'm referring to the WR's.

Dallas Clark is tough, but the other guys are more about speed and not taking hits. Peyton is the same way, stay in the pocket and don’t get hit. Your running game would be crap if you didn’t have Peyton Manning and those WR’s that defenses have to respect. I like Addai a lot, but man, when you have holes like that anyone can rush for a 100 yards. We have a 4-3 defense and play cover 2 yet, spent most of the game in our nickel package. That makes it a lot easier for the running game when you are pulling LB’s and dropping who you have into coverage.

Don’t take it so personally. If you think your WR’s are tough guys that will run through you than go ahead. I think they are more finesse. I loved the Rams offense back in the day by the way.

Marvin Harrison's always been the same way

One reason I’m a TO fan is because I remember a comparison of Harrison and TO a few years ago and the commentator pointing out how Harrison goes down or out of bounds while TO fights for every last inch after a catch.

maybe but he also

has some of the worst hands I have seen for an elite receiver.

Harrison doesn't

drop many that are right to him.

Very true, TO makes far too many drops

but still comes out with similar numbers to Harrison most years. Obviously, he’s a headache in other ways as well.

He has been relatively good in Dallas

doesn’t mean an incident won’t come up at some point, but I swear he drops every ball thrown at him when he comes across the middle. Must be Todd Pinkston Syndrome.

Harrison's about half the size of T.O.

And he might not have had half the career if he lowered his head for an extra yard opposed to running out of bounds.

If it’s 3rd & 8 from the 28, who cares if a guy runs out of bounds free of contact at the 47 or lowers his head to get to the 49?

I don't blame Harrison and Wayne for taking the measures they do to prolong their careers.

I realize, it doesn’t make much difference on most plays if a player curls into the fetal and falls immediately or pushes forth for a couple extra yards. When I’m watching a game, though, I’ll admit I much prefer seeing the added action coming from TO for those extra couple yards.

It's the Colts' MO.

And I don’t blame them for it. In fact, if you watch them play they drop or go out of bounds typically after they get the 1st down. I see them fight for yardage if they don’t have it just like most others.

It works for them, and I don’t think they’re wusses for it. It’s good team play.

Besides the obvious - Go Irish.

Z. He doesn't need an exclamation point. He is one.
