John Beck
Thank you to Rahulsriram for coming up with this idea. Beck played as a rookie on the Dolphins in there 1-15 year, giving him valuable experience under Cam Cameron (developer of Joe Flacco) and then was able to sit behind Chad Pennington to learn from a veteran quarterback, look how much Orton improved after some time with Griese. He has a big arm and is mobile, which makes him a great prospect and gives him two things Orton lacks.
However, there is one thing you might be forgetting about Beck he played at BYU, remember what happened the last time the Bears played a Mormon quarterback from BYU. I think you do.

Look guys he even wears the #9 (at least as a pro), and look at the similar throwing motions and the gloves, it has to be a sign that the Mormon Gods support the Chicago Bears. He should come cheap because of the emergence of Chad Pennington and the fact that the new administration drafted Chad Henne so they probably want Henne to be the future franchise quarterback. So possibly a third round pick or Nathan Vasher and Hunter Hillenmayer. Despite the sarcasm, I think he really might be good so it would be worth a shot plus he would be better than any FA quarterback, who could sit behind Orton this year and take his job the next season.

Maybe... but he kinda makes me wanna say Yuck.
He’ll be 27 years old before the season starts… with little pro experience. And, Bill Parcells drafted Chad Henne last year, pushing Beck down to 3rd string. Parcells usually knows what he’s doing.
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

I don't see the point
in bringing in somebody who has less experience. That isn’t competition for Orton. Whoever he brings in has to have at least played in the pros.
Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!
why?
first off beck has played, i believe it was about 4 games last year.
I mean we dont have to look farther than our rival packers to see how you can go with a guy with no experience over a veteran. Lets remember, Angelo is “fixated” on solving this qb issue and trying to go from belief to trust… so with that said I look around the league and believe that no team is using the logic you are saying.
Orton has experience, but it didnt translate into much down the stretch this year…. you look at teams like green bay, atlanta, baltimore, dallas, etc, who had vetern qbs on their roster but elected to go with young qbs with no experience in the system and wound up with long term answers. I dont think much of Orton, infact I dont think hes much more than a backup.. bring in a young hungry player with good intangibles, you might find the answer you want both in the short and long term.
just to clarify
what i meant by teams not using your logic….. i was to referring to teams who are trying to solve their qb situation long term as well as get good production in the short. Sure there are teams picking veterans, alla the cardinals, but I believe those are more cover ups than real fixes….which is what i think angelo wants to get done. and also the 3rd line down of the 3rd para i mean to say “game experience”.

As I mentioned above...
I’ve gotta go with Parcells on this one.
He inherited Beck. And, instead of giving Beck the opportunity to honestly compete, he drafted Chad Henne and signed Chad Pennington.
Plus… he’s gonna be 27 already! And at his age, he hasn’t had the 5 years of clipboard experience that most 27 year old backups would have.
There’s my answer.

No he wasn't.
Jim McMahon wasn’t/ isn’t a Mormon. He repeatedly would say he hated the hypocrisy of the Mormons at BYU. Other than his wife and a couple of friends he’s been quoted as saying he didn’t like any of the Mormons. That he had hoped to be recruited by Notre Dame. And that he was part of the less than 1% of Irish Catholics that attended BYU.
I’ve haven’t taken the time to think if I like the idea of Beck. He did play at the same school as McMahon. that doesn’t make them both Mormons.
just draft someone
if you’re getting no experience.
