Boldin Wants Out

http://deadspin.com/5134539/super-bowl-eh-anquan-boldin-has-bigger-things-to-worry-about-like-anquan-boldin

I think Angelo has to make a move for this guy.
Take Boldin, Hester, re-signed Lloyd, and Bennett and we have a pretty decent enough WR corp, that I believe we could win with.

Boldin is a solid number one. Hester could learn from one of the best and hopefully continue to grow. Lloyd, if cheap, will be an excellent number 3, and Bennett could round out the group. Davis might stay on the team for Special Teams purposes.

I'm gonna be very upset if we let this guy get away.

Dangle a first rounder Jerry and go get him!

A Recievers Worth

Boldin is worth more than an unproven first rounder. We should get an extra 3rd rnd pick from our FA losses. Angelo pull the gun and offer a 1st a 3rd and maybe a player.

Yes, but Angelo and the Bears

won’t give up draft picks and then a truck full of money for him. Angelo is a build through the draft guy, that is how he got his reputation.

I get the ugly feeling McNabb will go to Minny and Detroit’s first move would be Boldin, just to rub our noses in it.

maybe Angelo

needs to change his philosophy since he hasn’t been hitting many home runs in the draft lately. He can’t do anything with a first round pick, he might as well trade it.

DEJESUS!!!

No doubt

but I do doubt he’d admit he was wrong and try things another way.

Hmmm...

You’re assuming Bennett can play? He couldn’t even get onto the field behind the likes of Marty Booker, Rashied Davis, and Brandon Lloyd!

Don't give up on Earl yet...

He was just a rookie. Even if he didn’t see much playing time this season, it is still too early to write him off.

Things will get better as they improve...

You are also assuming

Lloyd can have more than one good game a season for us.

i am a retard, i readily admit,

but i’d prefer if we didn’t bring in more mal-contents. we already have enough of those.

by Hatchetm on Jan 20, 2009 11:15 AM CST reply actions

is Boldin a ma-content?

I’d not heard anything, bad just that he wants to be paid for what he is worth.

well in my book....

complaining for a year that you are unhappy and want to be traded would fit in my definition of malcontent. STFU—you signed the contract.

(plus he was sulking about not being thrown to in the last game…boo hoo)

by Hatchetm on Jan 20, 2009 12:02 PM CST up reply actions

Boldin would be a very good fit in Chicago

He is a tough guy and he is veteran with more than a few years left in this league. And he is tops in the game at his position. I don’t agree with him blowing up on the side line during the championship game but they could have given him an explanation. In Chicago he would be “The Guy”.

Everybody complains about their contract

Urlacher just did it. AZ has too great receivers. They rewarded one and not the other.

Now with the emergence of Breaston they are taking away playing time. I think AZ would be done not to trade him now. Fitz is a beast and Breaston has proved to be more than capable of being their #2.

not everyone demands to be traded.

whatever. to each his own. i think urlacher is an ass too.

by Hatchetm on Jan 20, 2009 12:39 PM CST up reply actions

Ditka was an ass also...

But he coached a team arguably the best football team ever. So do we hire players who are great at what they do or because they are well mannered?

i dunno what WE would do, but

I wouldn’t hire a guy who was a PITA in his last job. but then again i am retarded.

You said it, not me.

Yes, I think that qualifies for being retarded. Not wanting Anquan Boldin. But hey, if your retarded I guess I understand.

When did Boldin demand to be traded?

I know he wanted to re-negotiate his contract but I didn’t know he demanded a trade, did he? maybe I missed it. So Boldin is an ass? is he? who cares? Can he run and catch the football and score touchdowns? Big time

FLAGSTAFF – Anquan Boldin, unhappy with his contract and suggesting his relationship with coach Ken Whisenhunt is badly strained, wants out of Arizona.

Bordow: Boldins rant tarnishes reputation

"At the beginning of camp, I hadn’t asked for a trade. But … recently we did," the Cardinals’ star receiver said Tuesday afternoon, referring to his high-powered agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

"My whole thing is if I’m not going be treated fairly and my hard work and loyalty isn’t going to be rewarded here, then let me go somewhere where it will be rewarded.

"That’s how I feel, and I’ll continue to feel that way."

I wonder how happy he'd be here

we are a run team and nobody seems willing to change that, so would a receiver of his caliber be happy as the #2 option and then only when Orton find him and doesn’t overthrow him?

Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!

by Adam T on Jan 20, 2009 1:16 PM CST up reply actions

He would be

the number 1, and makes his money over the middle and on short to middle routes, which Orton should be able to hit all day. Hester would be put into a role he’s better suited for, the complementary WR.

Would he be worth the price?

In determining Boldin’s price in a trade, I’d say Roy Williams is very good measuring stick. Dallas gave up a 1st, 3rd, and 6th pick to get Roy and a 7th back.

So, I’d think Arizona would want at least this much in a trade, if not more (possibly 2 #1’s) Is Boldin worth these picks, or do the Bears need these picks to plug other holes?

It’s a tough call, but I’d make the move. He had a great year in Az despite a couple minor injuries, and is a top 5 WR in this league. I don’t think his attitude problems will carry over because he really does have a right to be upset with Arizona given that they restructured Fitzgerald’s contract, and wouldn’t even consider doing the same for him.

Also, don’t worry about Orton under throwing this guy because he makes a living of turning 10 yard throws into 60 yard TDs…he’s a true difference maker that would make this offense VERY good.

by NovaBears on Jan 20, 2009 3:36 PM CST reply actions

I do not think we need to give up that much

Dallas was retarded for doing that. And it’s not just a hindsight thing. From Day 1 I knew they gave to much away.

Look Moss went for a 3rd rounder.

Arizona will be looking to shop him. He’s a disgruntled player, they want to get rid of him as much as we want him.

Offer them Vasher/Hillenmeyer and a 3rd and go from there.
Then give go up to a 2nd rounder.
Eventually go up to a first.
If they won’t go for it.
Then there’s nothing you can do.
But you have to at least seriously try.

But there is no reason to go crazy and offer them 3-5 picks

lol

if JA offer them Vasher/Hillenmeyer and a 3rd at any point, I promise you they’d hang up the phone on Angelo.

Also Moss

was coming off some bad years with Oakland. There were many who were saying he was declining and past his prime, so that price is misleading.

And

he had a huge salary. Don’t forget that the Patriots were pretty much the only team that was willing to take a chance on him, if it wasn’t for them, he most likely would still be with the Raiders.

The price is definitely misleading.

Yes.

In his press conference

he downplayed the need for a receiver, saying is all starts with the QB. He implied that if the QB play was better you could just rotate in average receivers and be fine.

Orton

Everybody complains that Orton always overthrows Hester. Somebody ought to teach him to leap. A lot of those long passes were only 6" to 1’ ahead of his hands. Orton also knows he is not good in a jump ball situation. He has to lead him and hope Hester turns on the afterburner. With his speed he should be getting better seperation. Orton would be a different QB with Boldin. He is definately worth a 1st and 3rd.
