Bears see Adams as perfect fit in their defensive scheme

Gaines Adams was supposed to be a Bear in the 2007 draft, but was grabbed before. The 26 year old started 29 games in 3 seasons for the Bucs. “He’s prototypical of what we look for in a defensive end, particularly on the right side,” Angelo said Saturday. “When you think of him, the first thing you think of is his athleticism, and obviously you have to have a high level of that to be a pass rusher in this league." In his first 3 seasons, he recorded 124 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. Adams was the 4th overall selection in the 2007 NFL Draft. Adams said he has heard great things about defensive line coach Rod Marinelli. Adams is going form and 0-5 record to being 3-1 also. Adewale Ogunleye and Mark Anderson are in their final years of their contracts, so Adams will step in there and try to rush the passer like, or if not, better than those two great players.
