Chicago Bears VS. Atlanta Falcons - 1st Quarter Thread

Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons, Oct 18, 2009 7:20 PM CDT

Our game with the Falcons last year is not easily forgotten.  With the game all but wrapped up the Bears manage to give up the sidelines and Matt Ryan and  Michael Jenkins burn us.  Hopefully the Bears can use a little bit of that and come out firing on all cylinders tonight.  They don't want to give the  Falcons and early lead, so they can just run out the clock with a heavy dose of Micheal Turner.  That said Cutler has had some success against the Falcons in their house.  He was the only QB to beat them at the Georgia Dome last year.  Hopefully he can bring some of that with him.  As far as what the Bears need to do, it is pretty much the same as it has been every game.  Figure out how to run the ball, protect the QB and stop giving up the huge pass plays.

Looks like my

thought about the Giants was right. I’ve been thinking all season that they weren’t that good because they hadn’t played anyone. Now they are getting their doors blown off by the Saints

I heard Antoine Winfield got hurt...

Any info? Also, saw on espn that Antwan Odom was carted off in Cincy.. any word on that?

I ain’t near a tv right meow.

Haven't heard anything on Winfield.

But Peterson is down and Harvin just went down. not sure how serious though.

by Syndor on Oct 18, 2009 2:59 PM CDT up reply actions

Schefter has tweeted that

Marvin Lewis believes Odom’s achillies injury is serious.

And Harvin looked REALLY hurt and the twisted knee on Peterson looked bad. But eventually they both walked off field on own.

think it’s more beneficial to pull them anyways, less injury risk, more rest, more snaps for 2nd team

I disagree

its not a spring training game, your starters need game reps too. If you’ve got a gimpy guy, then sure pull him. But pulling everyone just for the sake of playing it safe is cowardly.

I suppose

but you need those starters healthy down the stretch, and in a game like New England is in tonight, i woulda pulled em just because of the risk
