Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

QuickHits: Twitter-style

As the Bears took the practice field this afternoon, some of the beat writers are giving us updates via Twitter.

Brad Biggs lets us know that Hunter Hillenmeyer is suited up, but Adrian Peterson is not.  It's the first time HH has practiced since Seattle.

Also from Biggs, and I'll quote him on this: "Early indication is Frank Omiyale will start at left guard Sunday at Cincy."

Jeff Dickerson says that Kevin Payne is wearing a brace on his left wrist.

If any of you hear anything from Bears Land, keep us in the loop!

I know

here we aren’t supposed to hope for injuries or anything,

but if Frank “is our starting left Guard” Omiyale could maybe just sprain his ankle or pull a hammy, so we could see Beeks… I would be okay with that

How much poor play does it take...

for Omiyale to take a game off?

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

I know this is some crap.

If they are going to do this then I want to see Omiyale and Beekman in a rotation to evaluate their play at least.

My opinion

of Lovie is starting to take a u-turn. Is this one of those occasions where JA is calling the shots?

It's decisions like this...

that make me question the coaching staff. They have much better access and professional insight and they are not seeing the obvious. They could be correct in that Beekman does not grade out as well as Omiyale, but then why aren’t they trying to address this in another way, like FA or trades. Or better yet, devise and run plays that don’t rely on his success for the offense to move the football! God I hope this isn’t some political/money decision from higher up.

Even if they really believed that Omiyale was a better guard than Beekman

There’s no way Omiyales’ on-field performance justifies him continuing to play when compared to Beekmans’ on-field permance last year.

If they thought Beekman was a problem, then they could’ve taken a guard in last year’s draft. As a matter of fact, I remember them passing on at least one decent guard in the middle rounds.
