Pisa Tinoisamoa We hardly knew ye....

Wcg_thumb_injury_medium Wcg_thumb_poll_medium

Just tweeted by Vaughn McClure, Pisa has opted to go for season ending knee surgery.  A very big blow to an already depleted linebacking core.  With all of the different players we have had rotating out of the LB position, I want to know what you think should be the solution.

With some of our inexperience exposed in the no huddle, expect teams to exploit that a little more, especially Cincy.  Not to mention that this will inevitably effect our Special Teams as well, this is not a good situation we are in, obviously.  The silver lining is that we have played without Pisa the entire year and guys have stepped up for the most part.  So I want to hear your input regarding this. Or if you dont like the options given what FA would you like to see the Bears go after?? Brooks, Trotter, Napolean Harris, Dick Butkus etc....

I think Roach is getting some good OTJ training.

The more he practices with the first team, and the more snaps he gets under his belt, I think he’ll be a fine replacement for Urlacher. Roach has been flying all over the field making tackles… he’s just got to get the coverages down pat.

They probably will let Roach stay in the middle because of how well he has excelled, he just needs to work on the calls coming from the sidelines.

Other than that, I feel like hes been making plays, then you can move Hillenmeyer back to his natural Outside Linebacking position. But the question is is Hunter better than Williams.

I really think

with HH experience in the league and the leadership that i’m sure comes with that, coupled with being behind Urlacher now, I really believe they put him in the Middle, and Roach on the outside.

letting roach hang on the outside, puts less of an important role on him, but still lets him be a very good contributer. IMO

According to Kevin Seifert...

That’s the direction they’re going to go once Hillenmayer is healthy.

Roach

I don’t think Roach has excelled, he has played pretty well for such an inexperienced player, but he has not been excellent. HH played better in his short stint at MLB, and since the Bears are playoff contenders now, go for the guy who is better now.

Its kind of a wash between the two, both have deficiancies in certain areas.

Hunters a little slower and a little less physical, but hes got more knowledge of the system than Roach.

Agreed

I just prefer HH’s experience at this point.

Experience is great

but moving off a blocker and actually making a tackle is better..

Roachy love the run stuffin', but don't forget about the TE over the middle!!

roach

Roach kind of screwed the pooch on that missed coverage where White was left uncovered while he faked a blitz. I say put Double H back in at MLB.

I haven't seen enough of Roach to know how he is as a deep middle cover guy.

If Roach is the better cover man, I’d play Briggs-Roach-WIlliams. If Hillenmeyer is the better cover guy then Briggs-Hillenmeyer-Roach.

The list of free agents is slim...

Here’s the linky from NFL.com

The only names that look interesting are Colvin and Brooks. I don’t know enough about any of the others to make any recommendations, but the Bears need to fill that roster spot with a LB.

BTW…where the hell is Gilbert? Are there no situations where he can get some reps? Oh well…here’s to another mediocre season. I once thought maybe 10-6, maybe 11-5 with a little luck (say a few missed FGs!). Now I think this team struggles to get to 8-8, with an outside chance at 9-7.

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

and we hardly miss you

But we do need to draft some LB or get some in FA next year.

That’s not true!!! WHY THE F*CK WOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU AHOLE!! Ok maybe your right but you gotta give a little something here for it to work. I don’t know what I’m going to do this is the worst thing I’ve ever read, this day could not get any worse. Fine, F*ck it, you’re right.

Nah, you’ve said it right ’cos it sounds exactly the same, just spelt differently. The major confusion is when you talk about the core of our LB corps… :-)

Is Butkus really available???

IMHO, the Bears really need to keep HH in the middle. I’m not a particularly big fan of his play the last couple of seasons, but they need experience in the middle. Even if they pick up a retread, no one currently available would be quick enough to play the middle in the Cover 2 scheme. Having said that, the current LBing situation makes me miss Mike Brown that much more. This Defense will be a killer after all the experience the young guys are getting this year!

ugh

this sucks. injuries are killing us. I hope we bring pisa back for another 1-year deal to see if he can stick. he’s great, when he’s healthy. If Briggs goes down, i’ve determined the football gods have a vendetta against the bears.

this year reminds me of 07 when we had a huge rash of injuries.

regardless, heal up pisa. would love to see you play again in this league.

we’re not going after anyone in FA this year. look to FA next offseason and the draft to address this.

How do wo know he's great when healthy?

I’ve seen him play roughly two quarters of football. That’s it. He had a nice hit on Turner, but that’s all I saw.

I did watch him at STL a little bit

he’s a good fit for us, but i dont know if i’d go as so far to call the man “great”

I liked what I saw from Pisa too

He did not play much in the regular season, but this guy was all over the field during the preseason. I know, I know it was only the preseason, but does anybody remember the Giants game when we could not takle Brandon Jacobs. Pisa was a mans man that game. I would like to see us bring him back and give him another shot next year.

by sheepskinz1 on Oct 22, 2009 7:35 AM CDT reply actions

Seconded

His motor was running non-stop. I’d like to think that he’ll be a good veteran to have around for when Urlacher ends his career… Briggs & Tinoisamoa would be a pretty good tandem.

That, and I finally learned how to spell his name without having to look it up every time.

keeping pisa

it takes something like more than a year to come off a knee surgery but i would like him to come back for the bears

by stepeo on Oct 25, 2009 10:17 AM CDT up reply actions

Hunter practiced

Double H practiced on Wednesday so hopefully we will see him back at MLB and slide Roach over. LBs will be key in stopping Benson next week as his downfield running this year will get him past the line fairly easily.

Geez. First you wreck his post 11 times

now you got him on the front page? Your fueling this man’s ego too much. It’s going to get ugly in here.

Hmm..

I would be interested to see Briggs, Hillenmeyer, Williams actually..after watching that rofl moment in the endzone last week w/ Roach anyway..

I really don't understand the lovefest for HH

When is the last time he made a great play on defense?? He has the knowledge but his physical skills have deteriorated. He is easily blocked and his coverage skills are not what they used to be. I don’t get it. Roach is learning on the job but the guy is making a bunch of tackles in the game and not HH style (6 yards down field). Whose to say the HH would not have gotten juked by Tony Gonzalez in the endzone as well? I don’t think HH could make another 53 man roster at this point in his career but he is our savior…sheesh..

Roachy love the run stuffin', but don't forget about the TE over the middle!!
