Long story short about the Cutler extension...

…it gives him the Eli Manning/Phillip Rivers money he’s been looking for. He’s going to be 30 when the extension ends, so chances are, he’s angling for one last, big, mega-deal that will ensure he ends his career as a Bear.

But, maybe even more importantly, as long as the Bears keep him happy and there is a hard salary cap in the NFL (the first part will come in especially handy if there is an uncapped year), the extension makes him near invulnerable to a trade and is a show of loyalty from the franchise to Cutler, things that were important to Cutler that resulted in the Denver trade.

And even if Cutler ends up out of Chicago by then, he’ll still get his $20m in guaranteed money from the Bears, which, while it’s a bad thing for fans and for the finances of the organization, is a good thing for Cutler. However, the guaranteed money is about half of what Matt Stafford got in Detroit, without a three-and-a-half year track record in the NFL.

Thanks but

BigAppleBearsFan came up with the “Gate 68” on the nickname post for Omiyale…

I just grabbed the torch and kept running with it…

Is this game a must win?

I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!

It's a very "nice to win" game, but not a "must"

We come home after this to play the Browns and Cardinals before Heading to San Francisco – 3 very winnable games.

going 3-3

would pretty much cement this team as .500 nobodies in my mind. yes, 6 games, that’s harsh, etc. but we’d be on the same path as last year. I’m not sure you can lose 3 games and win this division either.

I'm going to have to say it's a must win game.

How about another 3 game win streak? That would put the Bears at 6-2?

i am all for

a 3 game win streak

what bothers me mot islast year the bears never built on any positive momentum, nor did they learn from all those close losses. i think that is the epitome of a .500 team, they could only impose their will so far.

Yes, for two reasons...

1. We need every game down the stretch to secure a playoff spot wether it is wild card or division champ.

2. The more games we win the worse the 1st round draft pick that the Broncos will receive from us in 2010 will be. We already know we have gotten the best out of the QB aspect of the trade, but let’s make sure that we give them the chance to draft a solid late 1st round pick, not a near definate blue chip top-ten pick.

yes

it will set the tone for them to not get complacent, and with the Bengals D line bashed up really bad, our O line could potentially help forte get some yards finally, and open up the passing game.

but I would think you have to consider this a must win. no back to back losses, and stringing together wins
