This is a tad bit late, but you know what they say...
With the trick that our beloved Bears played on us last weekend in the Cincy Jungle, the NFL has provided us with a treat this weekend by giving us the Cleveland Brownies in our house.
I wanna dedicate this thread to all things Halloween. So, let's talk:
Costumes: Are you and/or your kids dressing up in any Bears gear, ex-players, or even a retired Honey Bear? What about dressing up as a Chicago Bears' offensive linemen, although this costume has been proven to scare no one.
Traditions: What do you do each Halloween? Do you deck the house out and pop out of the bushes to try and scare little kids until they cry? Do you go to a crazy downtown party? Do you stay at home, turn off all the lights and act like you're not home because you don't wanna be bothered by little brats begging for candy?
Pumpkins: I'll be knee deep in pumpkin innards tonight as I'll be carving a Tigger and a Brobee for my 19-month old. To keep this Bears related, I also created three team designs (see below). I'm not sure how good these will work since I haven't tried them out, but feel free to use download 'em and give 'em a try.

This will be our first
real Halloween out too. We did go and walk with some friends and relatives last year, but Elle just strolled. So, we’re making it up as we go along as well. We are gonna carve tonight though, should be fun.

Wish I had that Ditka template last weekend!!!! Ah well. Those are really cool though.
As for me and the boy, we’ll be travelling to the local mall since they do trick or treating there. My wife and I took him last year when he was a month old so he didn’t really get much out of it. I’m sure he’ll enjoy it much more this year as he is going to be an Astronaut. Hopefully in a few years I can dress him up as a mini Ditka or something. After that we’ll come home I’ll let him have a piece of candy or two since he’s only 13 months old. Then I’ll probably eat the rest myself and hate myself in the morning for doing it and maybe have to Olsen twin it to feel better. Should be a good time though.
This time of year does make me miss being younger and hitting the parties and bars and getting an extra hour to get completely trashed and not remember a thing about what you did. Or the times when I was a kid and trying to fit as much candy as I could into the bag. How cool were the houses that left the bowl out front that said please take one. :)

Probably have to have the sweater custom made.
I doubt there’s anyplace in the south that would sell the retro Ditka sweater. Nothing cooler than a kid with a cigar either. Got to get them smoking when they are young don’t want big tobacco going out of business.

yup
taped it to the pumpkin then took an ice pick like thing (I got at the grocery store) and punched out around the dots. Then carved out where the dots were at. Super easy.
I did have to fudge around the chest hair and eye brow part, since I made the templates kind of small and couldn’t get that fine of detail.
The bear head one would be killer if you didn’t print it out big and do it on a big pumpkin.

pumpkin carver. I usually do somewhere around 10 a year with a mix of real and foam ones.

I accidentally hit post. Anyways… I do an annual Halloween show. Last year I made my own GWAR costume (this is the PG pic) with some insulating foam, liquid nails, joint compound, plaster and paint.
This year I’m feeling a bit lazy and not about to carve/sand/paint/assemble a costume. Anyone have any ideas? I’m running out of time, so reply quick.
Not that anyone should give a crap, but the Friday show will be at the Mutiny (Western & Fullerton Ave) & Saturday will be at Bada Brew in Crest Hill. Neither are Trials shows GB :)

Those shows don’t start til 10 and I don’t expect to be on before 11:30 or midnight anyway, so unless you work the graveyard shift, you’d probably be okay. Our good buddies Nassau Chainsaw will be coming out from NYC, though I do not know if they will be doing freak show/suspension/pyro this year because Ed holds his liquor license near and dear.
I’m even closer than you are (Fullerton/Central Park) / (Fullerton/Kimball). I guess we’re sorta neighbors.

And for the costume, I’m now sure how useful this one would be if you were playing bass and all, but I think it’s a winner…

Buckethead… It’s not too difficult. Swing by a KFC, ask for a large bucket. Buy one of those William Shatner/ Michael Myers masks… Get some coveralls… Done!

another costume idea
i used this for a couple years at house parties back in college for an A+ icebreaker
wear loose clothing, preferably beer-spilling type
buy a bunch of little rubber chicks, some small barbie dolls and other things of this nature.
affix them to clothing via safety pins or whatever you prefer
when asked what the hell are you, reply “i’m a chick magnet”
