Olsen is about to go with him.

I have no problem with Dez and Davis taken over. Both are becoming a better option

by Daseabeez on Oct 31, 2009 10:11 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

They are not seeing

double teams almost every play, Olsen is. He does have to work on his dropped balls though, that’s becoming an issue even on the rare occasion that he doesn’t have 2 or 3 DBs draped all over him.

Also might be nice to see Turner call a few more vertical routes for him too… constantly dragging across the middle isn’t exactly going to spring him from double coverage, nor is it utilizing all his strengths. Oh, and no one is being caught off guard by that quick fade route-jump ball we try to run every time we’re inside the 10. Maybe lay off it for a little while.

Dez is on the later side of his career. Davis isn’t better than Olsen.

You guys are confusing Olsen’s pass blocking with his overall performance. It is no secret his pass protection is no better than an undersized RB, but he is still a weapon in the passing game and drawing a lot of attention. As soon as the rest of our offense begins to click, I think we will see things open up for him.

by brands735 on Oct 31, 2009 4:05 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

He is becoming the next R davis

Dez is in his later years but he is consistant. Olsen seems to scared to get hit to really be a go to guy. He still has hope though Tommie i believe is a lost cause all together. when a player says he has nothing to prove. means they really dont care.

by Daseabeez on Oct 31, 2009 5:22 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

You compared him to Rashied Davis? Really? Really?

Everyone on the Bears is afraid to get hit, including the offensive line. It is not Olsen, it is the softness of the team.

just saying he's getting close

he has his good plays just like davis

Seriously? Wow.

First this, then that gem of a comment below about Tommie Harris being our best DT.

Who in our line-up is a better DT than Tommie?

See last week at Cincy

by brands735 on Nov 1, 2009 11:31 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

No one on our offense initiates contact. Seeing Adrian Peterson run over Ryan Clark last week @ Pittsburgh was pretty cool. Instead, we have Johnny Knox catching a slant against ATL then stopping anticipating a hit. We have Olsen hearing footsteps since the PIT game (he’ll get over it). And we have Forte dancing behind the line of scrimmage instead of running down field because the offensive line is back peddling instead of winning the POA and popping the d-line off the ball.

by brands735 on Nov 1, 2009 11:36 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

He's been hung out to dry a few times.

I don’t think he drops balls because of footsteps, I think he just drops them.

if he was afraid to get hit

then he wouldn’t have made that catch in the Steelers game. Olsen is underachieving, but I still like him as a player.

Tommie Harris
"I don’t have to show him anything,"…. "He knows what I can do and everybody knows what I can do. I don’t have to prove anything to anybody.

"It’s all about how I prove it to myself and I owe it to my teammates, myself and this organization to get back to tip-top shape and that’s what I’m doing."

So you owe it to your teammates, yourself and the organization to get back to tip-top shape.

Hey Slim!!! Maybe you could’ve been doing that in the pre-season, like everyone else!

Oh my bad, you don’t have anything to prove, to anybody… You’re a joke dude!

What you have proven:
1- you’re really f’ing lazy
2- you use your superstar status to duck practice
3- you’re one dimensional

Knee injury? What knee injury?

Um the one you’ve been using not to practice you moron. The one that makes you limp around on the field after one play. The one that makes you fall down and get an interception you lucky bastard. And the one the makes it so you can’t beat one on one blocking or a double team. The one that keeps you from getting any sacks. The one that’ll faciliate you being on another team next year or at home. You suck Tommie and you are the only one that doesn’t know that. hell even Omiyale thinks you suck.

not true

if you look at frank’s mug up close when he flashes those uh, pearly whites…

then it has become obvious omi wan kenobi has successfully blocked the dentist from his mouth for many consecutive years.

i would love nothing more than just to see 91 play like he did in 2005, even if it’s just one game. even one quarter of asskickyness would be ok

How is Tommie the bad guy?

Lovie is the one that admitted to keeping him out last week even though he could have played and that was the worst rushing defense performance of the year. He is obviously the best we have at DT. If anything, keep him on the field. Maybe if we had a legit coach Tommie would be achieving his potential again

by brands735 on Oct 31, 2009 4:02 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

He can’t even attempt to own up to it if he is on the bench. If he really does suck, throw him on the field to show everyone. He doesn’t get the QB pressure anymore but has been good at stopping the run. It is hard to find good DTs that consistently get pressure on the QB; their primarily responsibility is run stop.

by brands735 on Oct 31, 2009 5:47 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

He is obviously the best we have at DT.

Really?

This year, Tommie has only recorded more than one tackle in one game, a whopping 3 tackles against Seattle (while being blocked primarily by Ray Friggin Willis).

He has gotten manhandled by guys like Willie Colon, Gosder Cherilus, and Allen Barbre. Double-teams? Forget about it. They don’t need no stinkin double teams against Tommie Harris. He can’t deal with a single-team.

Bottom line, Harris is an average (or below) DT in the league right now, making top-tier cash.

You are all gentlemen (and ladies) and good judges of cheap whiskey.

Do we have a better option? No. He is the best DT on our roster.

Benching Harris is about the only thing I'm not pissed at Lovie for.

If there’s one gut on that D that needs an ego check, it’s him.

Yes, but they need to stop the

“Vasher at Safety” experiment immediately. I see no chance of that working.

Can someone please tell me

who the hell Zac Brown is, and why he’s still selling us tickets to a concert that happened a week ago? Also, is he a Muppet, or are his eyes really that small?

I’m in Chicago posting on WCG waiting for the game tomorrow. Kinda cool for an Iowa kid.

Look at the bright side Dave

you’ll be there for an almost guaranteed victory (or for one of the darkest days in Chicago Bear history).

I can’t even imagine how ugly it’s going to get there if the Bears choke this game away.

All that and the Walter Payton halftime ceremony should make for a memorable day.

Brad Biggs has a nice post for Bears’ fans memories of Walter Payton. My favourite two so far:

I saw the Bears play at Seattle when Walter was in his prime. The Bears were losing at halftime. Second half started and the Seattle crowd was going nuts after an announcement that Walter was still in the locker room receiving oxygen. The place continued its thundering cheers against the Bears up until Walter ran out of the tunnel a few minutes into the third quarter. His presence was enough to quiet the usually loud Seattle fans just by showing up. What Walter did in the remainder of the third quarter was help the Bears put up something like 21 unanswered points on Seattle and never look back. I’ll never forget how he just showed up and dominated the entire stadium from the field up to the rafters.
During the 1986 Auto Show at McCormick place I was 3 years old, I managed to get lost from my dad, older brother and uncle. Lost in the giant building I ran into a office and bumped into someone. That someone was Walter Payton. A security guard came in and offered to remove me from the office. Walter declined the security guard’s request and let the security guard know that he’d help me find my family. So there we are Walter and I walking through McCormick place. Years later my brother and I played High School football with Walter’s son. One day my brother introduced himself to Walter. Upon hearing our last name Walter asked my brother “How is your brother Eric doing?” 10 years after helping me find my family Walter still remembered me.

It's hard to believe that at one time

we actually had Walter Payton and MJ playing at the same time for this city, luckiest city in the US. Well off to the game guys’ hold down the thread for me today.

Roach love the run stuffin', but don't forget about the TE over the middle!!

you can also throw the "other" 23 in there as well....Ryne Sandberg.

I think you’d be hard pressed to find any city with 3 better players in the 3 main sports playing at the same time. Plus Denis Savard wouldn’t be a bad (*) either for hockey.
