Idonije To Have Surgery

According to Brad Biggs' blog, Israel Idonije is set to have arthroscopic surgery on one of his knees today.

Idonije has been on the injury report since the beginning of the season with a knee listed as his ailment, and he was questionable for Sunday's game against Detroit. He played and was credited with a forced fumble and a sack. Idonije was also involved on special teams, but didn't look as quick as usual. By doing the procedure today, there is a chance Idonije will return quickly. While it's unknown the exact reason they are working on his knee, it's not out of the question that he could be back on the field when the Bears play at Atlanta Oct. 18. The bye will certainly help.

So far this season, Idonije has registered 4 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble, and has shown good ability to rush the passer.

Um

Uh oh.

Who would fill in for him if he can’t rehab fast enough? He’s been doing a pretty good job so far this season, and I’d hate to have him sitting, or worse, playing at 50%.

it can take 2 to 4 weeks to heal depending on the surgery and the person.

If it’s just a minor procedure then he should be ready for the Falcons game, I think thats why they’re doing this now.

I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!

It's just a scope...

So, like prophet & wilt said, it’s a short recovery time.

I heard Lovie's press conference when he addressed this,

he said it’s been scheduled for awhile. He probably had some pain that he was playing with, so they scheduled this procedure well in advance to help him for the rest of the season. Lovie said he’ll probably be fine for the Atlanta game. He also said Pisa, Hunter, Knox, and Hester will all be fine for Atlanta. He wasn’t sure about AP yet.
