THe Fixes for Da Bears?
Cardinals vs Bears coverage I think the following need to be considered for Da Bears to salvage 2009: 1.DEFENSE: need a new MLB (NR looks out of place & slow) with the size & quickness to stop runs. also try a 5 DE/DT set with 2 LBs and a safety to act as a free linebacker allowed to "roam". CBs are playing awfully, need an upgrade (actually Corey Graham seemed to play better last year & has the size to match or try Woodny Turenne who also seems to have size on rotation with the others. Don't like Rod Marinelli's old world tactics: looks like the DT/DEs are not playing smart but trying just brute force and staright @ OTs instead of thro the holes. CB's need to stay close to the WRs and need additional FS coverage for bigger WRs. 2.OFFENCE: again try a 6 OT/G set to free up running lanes. I think RT needs to be more imaginative. Try acquire Edgerrin James or Larry Johnson to compete with & complement Matt Forte. Also would use Kellen Davis more as a 3rd WR with his size, has played well at red zone situ's and also with good hands: can role both Kellen Davis & Greg olsen out on both end zones and use RB/FB as blockers for JC. 3.SPECIAL TEAMS: need to play with more meaness & purpose: looking for turnover production. would rotate, Manning, Hester, Knox & Iglesias for PR/KR. atleast not paying rookies for nothin. Iglesias seems an accomplished KR/PR specialist in college.

Welcome to the blog AKK
1- Nick Roach is not playing at MLB.
2- Woodney Turrene is on the practice squad.
3- Edge and LJ to compete with Forte? Why?
4- Iglesias doesn’t dress for games.
5- Before the Bears would consider these schematic moves… Does it work on Madden?

1.Nick Roach was playing MLB when Hillenmayer was injured (remember he was out of place in Atlanta when Gonzalez had a touchdown reception)
2.Turrene did well during the preseason as I recollect. then may need to bench one of the active CBs
3.Forte doesn’t seem to have the effort through tackles that he had last year. ?injury. And as you may be aware Kevin Jones is out.
4.then they should give him a chance. As Aikman said on the Cardinals game. Only polished reciever they seem to have is 80
5. These schemes: 6 DEs/OT packages were used by both Atlanta & Cincinnati to help their running games: suggest watching those games again.

Welcome back.
1- I know Roach was playing MLB when HH was out. But your post made it sound like he was still there, when he hasn’t been for the last 2 games.
2- Turrene did do well, but he has also been cut and re-signed a number of times. You’d have to think there was a reason for that.
3- I am aware that KJ is out. But neither Edge nor LJ could possibly compete with Forte, as you had stated.
4- The Bears only dress 4 WRs for game day. Which one of our WRs should get replaced by Iglesias? And, why? Hester, Knox, Bennett have all done very well, and rashied has done well on STs. Why replace any of them?
5- Why should I watch those games again? We can’t just pick up in mid-season and change our offense.

…And what about the reason why Nathan Vasher & Zachary Bowman are not playing well? Could be that Turrene was the 3rd string but who knows his potential?
What evidence do you have that LJ or Edge can’t compete or be better than MF, not that I don’t like MF, but as a 2nd choice.
about choosing 4 WRs, why not see what he can do on STs
I not saying to completely change the play book, but use it in some plays where the opposition is “loading the line”

Hmmm
- Like I said, I don’t know about Turrene. What we saw in the preseason looked good, but apparently the coaches, who are a lot smarter than me, see some reason to keep him where he is. Hell, I’d love to see him called up, but there is a reason he is on the practice team.
- I have no evidence about LJ or Edge, besides stats. Forte is more talented than either of them… it’s the OL that is the problem. We definitely are walking on eggshells with having only 2 RBs healthy, but that doesn’t mean we should try and find someone to compete with Forte.
- Why sit one of our WRs for Iglesias? I don’t think to “see what he can do on STs” is a good answer. I guess I am asking, what could that do?
- Considering the only extra Linemen we have are Omiyale and Shaffer, I don’t think running a power or unbalanced set would benefit our offense. We arguably only have 2 decent OLinemen to begin with… why put them all on the field at once? That would be embarrassing!

A misspelling of "offense"
Could you really not tell that?

I have seen offense spelled “offence” multiple times this week. Just thinking, really? Meanwhile, your first comment above, no obvious information in that one at all (except for 2 and 4 in which he is stating giving someone on the practice squad a shot and dressing a different WR for a week or possibly even 5 but I mean no obvious info in your condescending post above at all!)

It's the standard (non-US) English spelling, as is "defence".
However, I switch to the American spelling when discussing Gridiron.

Don't see any fixes until the Tampa 2 is demolished
And that would mean Lovie growing some and admitting his schemes are tired and people know all to well how to exploit them (don’t see it happening).
Lovie needs to get a Defensive Coordinator with a sack who knows how to run a 3-4 or 4-3 base and implement it ASAP in prep for next year’s draft class (which will be tough considering what we need and the picks we don’t have)
I also say play the 2nd and 3rd stringers, that way we can evaluate who has skills where and who has the hunger to play. Possible raise some trade stock levels and make some moves.
Unfortunately it looks like a lost season already so why not get some good out of it?
by TheMan1 on Nov 10, 2009 8:16 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
Agree, looks like most of the better teams have figured out ways of using the Lovie schemes’ to their advantage. Doesn’t help with Urlacher being injured and Tommie Harris out of games where they have to play potent “OFFENCES”.
