Wcg_thumb_notes_medium
Quick stats:

Bears had 43 rushing yards, and 75 penalty yards, while 0-2 in the Red Zone and 5 turnovers.

Cutler ended with 307 passing yards, and 0 TDs/ 5 INTS.

Matt Forte: 161 yards of total offense, but only 2.1 yards/ carry.

Frank Gore ended with 104 yards on the ground, and San Fran only had 1 turnover.

Our OL is pathetic.

And Doc Sports (or whatever user ID you go by these days) only comes around WCG when Cutler struggles.

Your d-line looked good tonight. And Harris was exploding through the 49ers o-line.

That looked like the Tommie Harris of 2005-2006.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Jay Cutler may have been the main reason we lost this game, yes, but in no way shape or form is he any part of the problems that this team has. Thank you and Go Bulls.

Scoring in the red zone

is one of the problems with this team, no? If Cutler took care of the ball in the Red Zone we’d be 6-3 (This game and Atl) pure and simple

by Dils on Nov 12, 2009 11:12 PM CST up reply actions

Redzone killed us its on Jay

Could help he we can run too.We looked just like Denver last year.Except we dont have ANY competent coaches.Jay is good but we have nothing.both lines suck defense sucks. We dont have a dependable WR and Jay is running for his life.Penalties killed us as well. This game is on Jay.the season is on the GM and coaches.

Offencive Coordinator

by SuperBowlXX on Nov 13, 2009 8:19 AM CST up reply actions   1 recs

what?

on the 1st redzone pick, we started out at what? four yards out? and the line/forte couldn’t get that on 2 plays? then on third we run a play action (which noone bites on, even the d lineman dropped into coverage) that sends three guys out right and all are completely covered.. great play call.. Yeah cutler should have thrown the ball away, but we got him cause he is the opposite of sexy rexy. believes in his arm but actually can make it most of the time. we knew this when we got him.

by GtM on Nov 12, 2009 11:17 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah

We could have gotten that in 2 plays. But what was the personnel Clark, olsen,Davis? Why Should have gotten davis to block for a run play. That pick was on Jay but that dumbass play was on turner

by T.Moore on Nov 12, 2009 11:19 PM CST up reply actions

cutler's bad on the pick, should've thrown it away

but four yards from the goal and two running plays should have yielded us a TD. not because we are a ‘running team’ but because we are an NFL team. we have to run that in. 1st or 2nd down should have been a forte TD. Cutler shouldnt have been out there on third down to throw the ball. So right, picks on Jay. the lack of a TD is on the line and forte.

by GtM on Nov 12, 2009 11:25 PM CST up reply actions

or turner

how about, i don’t know, a misdirection? some sort of different look at a running play? maybe put AP in (since he’s a better short yardage back)? and, if you are going to run a pass on 3rd down, don’t call a play action that everyone knows is a fake. nobody bit on that. terrible call from turner. cutler should have thrown it away, but that doesn’t excuse the piss poor play calling up to that point.

by guy incognito on Nov 12, 2009 11:28 PM CST up reply actions

If there is anyone

who’s being validated it’s Sexy Rexy. We ran him off for throwing 20 pics in a season and Cutler has 17 after 9 games. Cutler is better but let’s call a spade a spade OK. He sucked tonight and in the ATL game, and in the GB game. Ironically 3 games we would’ve won.

Agreed

playaction only works if you are running the ball well……which we dont. I think we should had went shotgun with 4 wide. spread the defence and if no one is open mabye jay has a chance to run it in. just my opinion

I agree with this partly.

Cutlers problem is decisionmaking, which, in the pantheon of QB problems, is better than most others because it can be fixed, either through playcalling, or the QB improving, or both.

The 40-yard completion to Bennett that got called back, that should make anyone making the Cutler/Grossman/Orton comparison throw themselves off a bridge because they are so stupid.

He sees the pressure coming, fakes the defender into the air, and just stands there cool as a cucumber untilt he defender comes down and gets his feet, then he scrambles forward and makes a awesome throw downfield. Nothing in that entire sequence of events could have been accomplished by Orton or Grossman. They both would’ve panicked and the play would’ve been dead.

Culter will come around.

To defend Cutler....

it looks like he is the whole offense because honestly he is. Running game doesnt exist and the receivers are cutting routes off and are not in the proper location which have resulted in many of his picks.
Cutler is trying to win these games but i agree sometimes hes got to bite it and either take a sack or throw it away had the game been 10-9 we would be having a different conversations

There was also some bad officiating tonight. Lets be honest some calls should have been made but werent.

by Bear Lovin 21 on Nov 13, 2009 7:36 AM CST up reply actions

Definately enough blame to go around, But

Cutler just can’t go throwing into triple or even quadruple coverage. That’s how you end a game with five picks. Does Jay have the tools to be a top QB? Absolutely. But red-zone interceptions are the worst thing you can do as a QB. The announcers put it in perspective last night when they said, and I quote, “Cutler has 6 int’s in the red-zone in his last 13 games” now it’s 8 inside the 20. Brady has thrown 6 in his career from the red zone. I know you’ve got to have faith in your arm as a quarterback but being smart about the throws seperates the Bradies from the Cutlers.

Have been a running team for years. So I place much of the blame there.

While Cutler had 5 picks (his fault or not). I still give him some props. 1st year, learning the receivers, and the entire team pretty much place solely on his shoulders. Meanwhile, get that man some ice, he took a beating last night.

I think Mike Martz is the last co-ordinator you guys want. He’s pass-happy, which is both good and bad for Cutler because it means that he might put up good stats, but it also means he’s going to get hit. Alot. Especially behind that O-Line. Not to mention Martz supposedly has a complex system. If your WRs are doing a poor job in the current one with routes, I can only imagine Martz’s system would have their heads spinning.

its less about how he looked

For me

This was worse than Cincy, because the game was right there the whole time despite how terrible we were playing. The Niners had one less penalty than us, and should have had more. Everything everyone is saying about the Bears being undisciplined, well, the Niners are right there too. They are not good this year.

The Cincy game, at least it was over quick. At least it was clear we were overmatched and out of it. This game, they kept giving you just an inkling of hope that they could get the ugly — yet so, so necessary — win, only to rip your throat out time after time, with penalties, picks, play calls.

Also, with Cincy, we were 3-3. With this, we’re 4-5. As the kids say, dunzo.

things will never change

Until we have an intelligent GM, HC, DC and OC, this team will get progressively worse. The best thing that can happen is that Bear fans stop going to home games and the McCaskey’s start losing money. That way they’ll give the team a bit of dignity in the form of intelligent people who can win. But in the end, Da Coach was right, Mike McCaskey is an idiot. But although he was awful tonight, Cutler has been the best player we’ve had this year. Give him a good OL, play caller and a D that takes care of business so he won’t have to force throws, and we’ll be playoff caliber. Despite of what the score, the D still played horribly. Frank Gore was running roughshod over the D and if they had a good qb then it would’ve been over long before that final interception.

by frenchbears113 on Nov 12, 2009 11:16 PM CST reply actions

Coaches are bad...

Time to size up what the Bears have and what the Bears need. On offense, can we all agree that DA is the only WR that gets separation consistently. Knox and Hester are burners and Turner has them running slants for 6 yards. Get these 2 up the field on a few out and ups, flys and post patterns. Use their speed to get separation; but wait you can’t run out and up on 3 step drops with a terrible o-line. The running game is a complete joke. Cutler has to be willing to just throw the ball away more, but at least he’s doing something. Tommie Harris is a waste of a roster spot. All the big Gore runs were right past Tommie “ole” Harris. Graham is better than Bowman. Manning cannot tackle. Wale needs to stay in 2010. Harrison and Adams are the best DT tandem on this team. This team has become gutless and it reflects Lovie’s loss of control. It’s time for Lovie to go.

The Gore TD was run directly at Harris...

He crashed down inside and Gore ran past him. Harris just took himself out of the play, even though he had made penetration, it was right past the ball carrier. There is some talent on this team still, but the coaches are not scheming for the talent they have. I was honestly impressed with the extensive use of man coverage with the single safety, but I believe that was due more to Bullocks inexperience at SS, than Lovie looking to change his defense to actually defend the opposition rather than just catch them 4-5 yards after they crossed the LOS.

Red Zone......The Following Formation Is For Ron Turner's Eyes Only.

      WR TE/Tackle/Guard/Center/Guard/Tackle/TE WR
                                                      QB

                                                      RB

Out of this Max Protect formation Ron we can do a Run up the middle, pitch left or right or play action pass. You can either release both tight ends or keep them in to block. If you release them it gives 4 receivers. If they stay it gives two receivers. Or Ronny boy, you can release one and keep the other in to?……you guessed it Ron, Block. And please, please, please Ron, no Bubble screen to Hester in this situation. I know how BADLY you want to show us how smart you are getting Hester in space. Just save in for another time, okay Ron? just like any other player

every player says the same thing so calling him out is kind of lame. might as well call out every single player in every sports league. it’s like anyone drafted into the Raiders says they’re happy to be there. you know it’s a lie but they’re getting paid so in the end they don’t care. but real players stick it out, no matter what the reason. look at Nnamdi Asomugha. The best shutdown CB and yet for money, he stayed in Oakland. To top it all off he’s a really good guy off the field. So to summarize every player plays on a team he probably never wanted to be on in the first place.

i think most of us

just from reading this thread, can agree that a large number of picks can be blamed on the OL. When we can’t punch it in 4 yards on 2 running plays and then have to pass, you know you have problems.

fix the O-Line, fix the entire offense. fix the O-Line… well, the D still has problems.

by Nih1lus on Nov 12, 2009 11:30 PM CST reply actions

it would make a huge difference

cutler has been great when he has more than 4 seconds in the pocket. and imagine if he had a running game he could rely on! as far as the defense goes, an effective tommie harris fixes a lot of the problems. we’ll see how he plays from here on out. he did decent tonight, and so did our D, not surprisingly. however, if he’s inconsistent, dump him and get a good DT in free agency. sign the best DB, be it a CB or a S, you can. we’re not that good in the secondary.

Cutler's gonna be the flavor of the week

Truth is, we just can’t put together a good consistent game “on all phases” from this team right now. We are a very bi-polar, mediocre, mistake-riddled ball club. And when we do find a way not to screw something up, we get a holding call or something similar to take the momentum away.

Cutler will be fine here… did anyone here, really EXPECT Super Bowl this year?

Watch me pull a hat outta this rabbit.

by Bears fan 4-ever!!! on Nov 12, 2009 11:45 PM CST up reply actions

There's so many problems...

Offensive line, defensive line, lack of running game (could be attributed to OL, might not), turnovers, bad decisions, receivers dropping off routes, secondary issues, linebackers being banged up, other injuries to key players, our soft cover two that is allowing receivers to eat up the field, penalties, not being prepared, coaching, bad luck…

The thing is, not all of those things are wrong every week… or every quarter for that matter. When one unit is playing well, the other unit is costing us the game. Not to mention how frustrating it has to be for the players, which probably only adds to the inconsistent play.

But still, we have the ability to be a good team. And as cliche as it sounds, I still think we’re a few pieces from moving from mediocre to decent. It just won’t happen this year.

And that’s alright, because “Jay’s our Quarterback” for at least five more years! ;)

I'll tell you what i didn't expect

I did not expect us to finish worse than we did last year. At 9-7 barely missing playoffs i expected to go to the playoffs this year at 11-5. I can’t believe the total meltdown we have had the last few weeks but i also can’t believe even more the coaches just sitting idly by and watching it happen. You know what i would do if i was Coach?

I would put those overgrown babies into full pads practice for the rest of the season or until they start playing with some sense and some frikking fire. 2 years ago, Mike Tomlin had the Steelers practicing in full pads in week 11 and a few more weeks after, you know why? To show the players that he was the boss. Unless Lovie does something to get control and motivate this team then the season is over.

Am i saying the season is over right now? No, i am saying Unless Lovie and company can lay down some iron grip and start holding players accountable then yes, we will finish 7-9, 8-8 at best…if even that.

I didn’t watch all of the game, but from the parts I did watch it didn’t seem your coaches did a very good job tonight, along with the o-line and Cutler.

The screen passes were working and then towards the end of the game you guys seemed to go away from them. I was thinking that could be because Pace went out and most of your screens had been to the left but I don’t know enough about your team to say really.

Cutler really should have only thrown 2 INTs, and the o-line sure as hell wasn’t helping him. It really sucks to have a really talented Qb, who has a bad o-line. But the last pick was on Cutler. It’s unfortunate he had to rush his throw a bit because it looked like Olsen was going to break to the left and have a bit of an opening.

But on a positive note, I thought Forte looked really good tonight. It’s unfortunate that your o-line, like our o-line doesn’t really ever open up too many holes for him to run through.

Any who thinks this is all on Cutler is ridiculous.

I give him credit for TRYING to get the ball down the field. Cutler needs an offensive line and an offensive coordinator that doesn’t suck ass. 2 picks were thrown when under serious pressure, 2 were b.s. (Hester falling and a Pass Interference that wasn’t called), the 3rd was a forced throw but was an obvious play call. 3rd and goal after a failed first and second down run. Cutler is in a bad spot being on the Bears, I feel bad for him… Cutler is the only thing making that offensive even close to competitive. If he were QB of the Vikings it would be a close call of who the league MVP would be right now b/w him and Brees, but stick him on this pathetic offense and yea… you get games like this. Can’t run, can’t block… guess what… ya won’t be able to throw.

Oh yea, Defense did play really well tonight… Gotta give credit.

I like Cutler but fans here need to stop the hypocrisy

This guy threw 2 ints in the redzone that could’ve won us the game and has 17 picks halway threw the season. I’ve said it in an earlier post and i’ll say it again because it’s true. Rex Grossman was ruined in this town for a bad game is Arizona and for throwing 20 picks in a season in his first full season. So for everyone to keep cutting Jay slack for playing this bad on 3 different occasions is a little rich to me.

The game is on Jay

The season is on the coach and GM and owner

by T.Moore on Nov 13, 2009 12:21 AM CST up reply actions

Definitely.

But the thing is, I defended Grossman too. Some of us see that this organization may be the lack of success in QB position. Now, was Grossman the answer? Obviously not, but perhaps in a better situation he might have faired better as well. Am I rationalizing? Sure, I have too at this point, I have been rationalizing poor QB play in Chicago for 20 years… but like Cutler has shown in Denver (and in a few games in Chicago) give him a few seconds and after developing a better rapport with his receivers he will post Pro Bowl caliber numbers.

Red Zone INT’s are unacceptable. No question. It goes without saying, he shouldn’t have thrown it in some of those situations… but if he wasn’t being flushed and wasn’t desperate to make a play, would the results be different? (That’s rhetorical, but from the Steeler game and Seahawk game I think yes)

Classless would have been making a comment about the statement in the post about being able to catch the Vikings. I chose not but easily could have.

His QB rating has dropped every year he has been in the NFL.

His INTs have increased every year he has been in the NFL.

His INT % rate in the redzone is the highest in the NFL.

He has fumbled 31 times in 46 career games.

His career record is 21-25.

Cutler is having the same problems as Grossman, in that there’s hardly ever any time for him to actualy set his feet and throw the ball, a bad running game, and terrible play calling. Yet for some reason, Cutler gets a free pass. That I don’t understand.

by bjchit on Nov 13, 2009 1:36 AM CST up reply actions   1 recs

During the Superbowl season

Grossman threw 20 picks and 23 TDs. He got sacked 21 times. Cutler has throw 14 TDs and 17 picks and already been sacked 19 times through 9 games. Cutler has also been hit way more and already fumbled 7 times, most due to protection breaking down. So, in case you didn’t remember from watching, these stats should tell you Grossman had better protection that Cutler has been getting.

Also, Grossman lost more yards on a sack per average because he would panic in the pocket and try to escape pressure by running backwards. He never, ever stepped up, never extended the play. Speaking of running backwards:

Grossman rushing: 2 yards on 24 attempts
Cutler rushing so far this year: 24 attemps, 111 yards and a TD.

Yep, exactly the same.

As for running game: Grossman’s running game, consisting of Thomas Jones and Ced Benson, picked up over 1800 yards between them. They both averaged over 4 yards per carry, and between them they fumbled once all season. Forte has three already, and has picked up a whopping 482 yards, averaging 3.4 per carry. So, Grossman also had a better running game. Mostly due to the O-Line, which, as I said, was better.

For receivers, Grossman at least had Berrian and Moose. Some of our receivers, Knox, DA, even Iglesias, have the potential to be solid NFL receivers, but Grossman’s targets were better too.

As for terrible playcalling, we were the second-highest-scoring offense in football, so yeah.

Sorry man, there is no contest. Grossman had a better everything. But that is really beside the point, which is that Culter is just a better QB in every way.

by gafferland on Nov 13, 2009 2:03 AM CST up reply actions

And the very next season, how many sacks did the Bears give up? Hell, two qb that year were injured on sacks. Wow. You do realise most of those “runs” backwards were kneels downs at the end of the game right? And the one time he does try and scramble, he gets a 22 yard gain. Then the next season when they got rid of Jones and had Benson, they had 1320 yards and a 3.1 yard per carry. As a team. That’s not a poor running game? Did you see the Super Bowl? Run run, pass. They also had a terrible time running the ball in that game too. Berrian was great, until he didn’t feel like playing. Then he was just half assing his routes. And yes, well Musshad is a multi time Pro Bowler, the Chicago weather must have turned his hands into stone at times, because 3 of Rex’s int’s were the result of them bouncing right off his hands. So yea, there is a contest.

by bjchit on Nov 13, 2009 2:45 AM CST up reply actions

Grossman also won more games then Cutler has, dispite starting fewer games, and has a qb rating of 96 in the 4th quarter. I’ll bet I cringe if I see Cutler’s.

Doesn’t the fact that Sexy Rexy can’t beat out Dan Frickin’ Orlovsky for a back-up QB spot say it all? Why can’t we agree to stop talking about all our failed QBs that were not talented enough (except for Orton) that can barely make NFL rosters after we’re done with them?

by escolio on Nov 13, 2009 8:53 AM CST up reply actions

and that doesn't factor in

the amount of sacks cutler has avoided through scrambling – i bet you could tack on another five more sacks if we had a QB that didn’t have Cutler’s scrambling ability.

Hypocrite

How can you say that we can’t compare Cutler to Grossman if they are alike, Both were strong armed, poor discision makers who liked to throw interceptions. Cutler has yet, in all his seasons, under different teams and coaches to prove he can win. Just because he has a strong arm and went to the pro bowl one year, he’s a star. As a starter, his winning percentage isn’t even .500, what more do you want. Don’t blame the coach, he had the same problem in Denver, and will continue to have for the rest of his career.

They are not alike.

Cutler is a good NFL quarterback albeit with some very big flaws that need correcting. On the right team, though, he has the potential to be a great NFL quarterback.

Grossman is a mediocre NFL quarterback who will ride the pine for the rest of his career.

Still to be proven ...

Cutler still has to prove that he is a good quarterback. He is now in his fourth season and there are some troubling things. The title of “franchise quarterback” and words like “great” have been granted to him by the media and the fact that he has a strong arm. Exciting plays can cause a loss of perspective. If you only go by yardage numbers you could call him good. But if those yards don’t produce wins and if they end up with interceptions then the verdict is still out. I think it is safe to say that the verdict is still out. You may be right … he may end up being great but the qualifiers keep mounting up (i.e. if he only had a line, if he only had a coach, if he only had receivers, if he only had …) and until he actually proves it I will hold off on calling him “great” and am beginning to hold some reserve on “good”.

by Hank44 on Nov 13, 2009 7:23 AM CST up reply actions

that logic is flawed

a quarterback alone cannot win games. Granted, Cutler hasn’t helped this season, but to say that because he doesn’t have a .500 record as a QB ignores the fact that over 50% of the game is conducted with the QB on the sidelines. Right now, Cutler gives us the best chance to win. Period. He’s got playmaking ability and is suffering because our line is terrible and don’t give him enough time to make his reads and utilize proper throwing mechanics.

I’m not trying to make excuses for him, I think he pressed too much in a tight game – tried to force a few throws, but it’s not like he’s working with the ’99 Rams offense here.

I agree ...

… Cutler certainly gives the best chance to win and I am not saying he may not be good. This is not a plea to bench him or put someone else in nor is it a statement that Grossman was better. But I am saying that the clock is beginning to tick on his “playmaking ability” and how good he really is. The logic is not flawed that he still must prove it. The logic that is flawed is one that grants him that status based on “if only” and “potential”.

Flawed Logic

How can you say a quarterback that leads the NFL in interceptions, let alone red zone ints, that is not someone who gives you the best chance to win games, he made you lose because of his decision, if he didnt get intercepted the Chicago would have won.

by maxwellsdemon on Nov 13, 2009 11:12 AM CST up reply actions

in a vacuum, no

if you fail to see the flaws in personnel around Cutler, I can’t help you. Cutler and Forte (and arguably Olsen) are the only above average talents we have on offense. Has he made the best decisions? No. But you’re failing to recognize the fact that he has a bunch of young receivers and one of the worst offensive lines in recent memory. The break downs in pass coverage mean that Cutler can’t progress through his reads. His receivers don’t have enough experience to break off their routes and get to a place on the field where Cutler can get them the ball within 1-2 seconds of it being snapped because of the pressure generated by the pass rush.

Cutler isn’t a franchise quarterback right now. Not to say he won’t be. Maybe we should give it more than 9 games where he’s stuck with a talentless, over-the-hill line before we call for his head, no?

If he didn’t get intercepted, Chicago would have won? Based on what? The running game can’t get going, the line can’t block. Should he just throw the ball away and hope the defense can score some points? Maybe last night he should have.

Well

You’re failing to realize other WRs like Bennett and Knox had one-on-one coverage all night, but Cutler refused to look their way. Instead, he decided to throw into double and triple teams to Olsen and Hester. Bennett was wide-open on the final play, one step inside the endzone.

by propheteer on Nov 13, 2009 11:58 AM CST up reply actions

yeah i heard he was wide open

i may be mis-remembering, but wasn’t the rush in pretty quickly on that last play (i thought he was going to get sacked)… didn’t cutler have to avoid the rush and move 7-8 feet up in the pocket to even get the pass off? when you’re running for your life, you really can’t go through all your reads. like i said in a previous post, i didn’t have the best vantage point for watching the game.

with that said, i think the criticisms of cutler’s redzone decisionmaking are definitely on point, the first red zone int and the game ending play were absolutely horrific. if the blame has to go anywhere, it falls on cutler, but it’s not like he’s got much to work with. maybe i’m wrong, that’s just how i see it.

and it probably has something to do with the bias you highlighted in another post. he’s going to look for his “safety valve” when he’s in trouble, whether its the correct read or not. i don’t know enough about the inter workings of the team. is this cutler’s fault, turner? both?

some of the int’s seemed to be dumb luck. hester falling on the come back, the ref getting in the way on another and the potential PI. either way, a pick is a pick and he has to deal with it.

i tallied up each pass thrown on the espn box score play by play. when i first checked the box, it didn’t have targets, but it does now. hester 14, olsen 11. The ESPN box score with targets doesn’t included them on penalties it seems. bennett’s target on espn is 5.

Also

I’m not saying you can’t compare them, especially in the departments where they are obviously alike: interception prone, poor decisionmaking, which is basically another way to say interception prone. Cutler is horrible with ball security (30 career fumbles to go with 54 picks through, get this: 46 games! (Only 9 of those fumbles were lost, and like I said, QB fumbles are often the result of botched snaps or poor protection, but still, 30 is fucking high). If he doesn’t fix it, it will be a problem, possibly a career destroying one.

I also never said he was a star. For the record, while I was excited about Cutler (and Pace. Oops) my preseason prediction for the Bears was 8-8. Now that’s starting to look generous, but I always like to begin from a position of pessimism and be pleasantly surprised rather than the alternative. Comes from being a Sox fan.

But, I am specifically targeting all the “Bring back Grossman” and “Culter sucks worse than Grossman” people. If you think this team would be better with Rex Grossman as QB, you are an idiot. Period.

Come on. Stop proving me right.

First of all, that record is held by George Blanda, you know, that guy in the Hall of Fame?

Second of all, the record is 42, so Jay still has a way to go.

Third of all, if you want to talk about Vinny’s 35 INT year:

TDs that year for Vinny: 13 (Jay has more already)
Completion percentage: 46.7 (jay’s lowest ever is 59.1)

Also, Vinny did it in 15 games.

Never said that.

What I said was: You can’t say that Grossman is better, or that they are equal. I stand by that, because it is true. Look at stats, look at skill set, look at performance. You can pick and choose stats like 4th quarter QB rating (career Grossman is a sterling 70.2, compared with Cutler 84.7. As a benchmark, Favre’s career rating is 86, the good Manning is a 94.7, and Cade McNown is 67.7) and games won (team effort), but this team is better off with Cutler.

“Seriously, anyone who says Culter is just like/worse than Grossman is immediately excluded from ever speaking about football again. There is no contest. Not even as a joke.”

I think you did.

Cutler also had one of the best receving corps in the leauge for a couple of years, why do you think Orton is suddenly lighting it up? Cutler now as a Bear though has a rating of 76 through 9 games. Rex had a rating of 73.6 in 2006. Yes, games won is a team effort, but you’re kidding yourself if you think Grossman doesn’t win some of those games the last 3 years. You can say Grossman isn’t as good as Cutler if he gets a chance with the Texans and blows. That has yet to be deterimined. I’ll actually be surprised if Cutler finishes his contract with the Bears. And before you jump to any rash conclusions, the Bears wouldn’t be better with Jesus Christ at qb.

Sigh!

No point in arguing Grossman v Cutler (Though both seem to love throwing off their backfoot instead of stepping into it), Grossman is long gone and Cutler is our only option at this point. Yeah Cutler, lost the game, but so did Hester, Chris Williams, Tommis Harris and anyone else who had a mishap, bonehead play, or drew a flag on what seemed like any positive play. Let me change that to ANY play. Fact is this team is making mistakes in all phases of the game and if one unit does show up, the others are no where to be found!!! I try toremain optimistic through most of it but, this group (players and coaches) is driving me crazy!!! I need a hug!

The Bears simply are not a good football team. They are not average, they are not middle of the road, they are bad. Too inconsistent from week to week. First offense, then defense, then special teams – repeat the cycle. The irony of last night was that they still had a chance with 5 picks, numerous penalties (absolutely no excuse), and mental errors. Penalties and mental errors are on the coaching for if you are not capable of preparing your team mentally, that rests squarely on your shoulders (Lovie, Ron, et al). Moving on from the pathetic performance last night, does Cutler’s poor mechanics somehow lend credibility to Rex Grossman’s misgivings? Certainly. For, if the staff is not capable of addressing and improving poor mechanics (footwork, release point, etc) then no QB will ever succeed in this city. I have said it once and I will say it again, Rex Grossman was not all the blame nor is Jay Cutler. His mental clock is so short right now due to being planted all year long, that he has no comfort going through his progressions. He is rushed, at the least, mentally, which again can explain part of the poor mechanics. But his reads or lack there of, do not fall directly on his shoulders when he has not had the time. And Olin Kruetz, is it that hard to snap the ball? The list is endless and this a weekly ritual – Bears aren’t going anywhere, have no draft picks of consequence, therefore will have to look at FA for help. Do we trust Angelo to do this?

Calling Olin Kruetz out!!

Why has nobody called that guy out? He’s a bum. Besides the fact that he gets manhandled on every play, now, he can’t even snap the ball in Shotgun formation. Twice, he skipped the ball to Cutler. I’m convinced that all the QB/C exchanges were Olin’s fault, not Rex’s, Kyle’s or Jay’s. He needs to go. If he wasn’t such a great tackler, I’d say cut him.

Bears

I don’t ever want to hear Lovie, JA, or anybody say that “we like our guys” ever again. This team is a complete mess right now. I’m going to say that they are in the Top 5 WORST teams in the league, right now! Jay Cutler is a great QB, but he’s going to suck on the Bears until this franchise gets somebody who nows how to run a football team to actually run this football team.

This team does not have the coaching to turn a mediocre WR group into a formidable WR group. If the Bears don’t sign the best free agent WR available, (hopefully Marshall or V. Jackson) then the Bears fail. Let’s face it, Knox is not ready to be an NFL WR. He’s never open. He’s been invisible since the Atlanta game and that’s including 3 games where the Bears did nothing but pass the ball. He’s electric, no doubt, but he’s not ready to be a WR. Keep him at KR until he learns the position.

I can’t even come up with enough negative adjectives to describe the O line. Chris Williams is a terrible RT. Olin Kreutz and O. Pace are D-O-N-E!! Beekman needs to be moved to C because he’s too small to play G. The Bears O line is 5 gigantic Mr. Hanky Poos dressed in Chicago Bears uniforms.

Forte is slow!! Very slow!! Is he injured? He looks terrible on run plays and I know that it’s 99% O line’s fault but he still shows poor vision. He’s great out of the backfield so there’s some hope but he needs to do a better job running the ball.

Defensive line is shit!! The Marinelli project=fail!! So much for A. Brown manhandling a 2nd stringer. Did he even play yesterday? Could have fooled me. Undersized and outmuscled on every play. Defensive deficencies start there. Zero pressure=on slaught.

I love Briggs. He’s the only one on that D that makes plays every game. I think somebody smoked Roach and HH is not athletic enough in this defense. Injuries has killed this LB unit and it shows.

Secondary…..ah screw it.

This is 5 straight weeks (Atlanta, Cincy, Cleveland, Arizon, and San Fran) the Bears played like absolute Bear shit. This is not a playoff team. Shit, this isn’t even a 4-5 team. This is a 2-7 team that is in the bottom 5 teams in this league and the sad thing is, it won’t change. So us Bears fans will have to continue to Bear Down and accept what it is. A shitty football team with no draft picks and no competency in the front office to even do anything with those draft picks anyways to try and correct what’s wrong. It’s going to be a long next couple of years folks. Hope you have enough alcohol.

This has probably been thrown out there a lot....

but I want to again say, IMO, that Jay Cutler isn’t the problem.

Sure, the guy has made mistakes. But when I see Jay Cutler playing out there on the field with the lackluster running game that we have, I see him forced into doing too much. Teams realize now that Matt Forte has forgotten how to run for more than 2 yards per carry. Maybe the bad running game is caused by our young / inexperienced / flat out horrible offensive line.

We need to figure something out and try to salvage something out of this season. How? I have no clue. But I know it has nothing to do with Cutler.

New RB. Larry Johnson? I don’t know.
Maybe we should have invested in Faneca.
