Cutler Playing At Night...............A Nightmare.............

We all know Jay Cutler has Diabeties but does it affect him playing at Night?  Diabeties affects sight and the lower extremities.  I will break down the 3 night games he has played this Year and welcome your comments.

1.  Bears @ Green Bay, Sunday Sept. 13, 2009.

A. Jay Cutler........17/36  277 Yards.....1 TD..................4 INT...........QB Rating..........43.2

2.  Bears @ Atlanta, Sunday October 18th, 2009.

A.  Jay Cutler...............27/43 300 Yards..............2 TD's...............2 INT....................QB Rating..................79.6

3.    Bears @ San Francisco............29/52 307 Yards............0 TD.................5 INT..................QB Rating..............33.6

4.  The final numbers 6 Day Games combined, Record:  4 Wins -  2 Losses.

A.  Jay Cutler...........138/207  1,499 Yards.................11 TD's.................6 INT....................QB Rating..............93.5

5  The final numbers 3 Night Games combined, Record:  0 Wins - 3 Losses.

A.  Jay Cutler............73/131  844 Yards.............3 TD's...........11 INT.................QB Rating.............52.0

Conclussion:  One could argue that these gawdy numbers are due to a lack of a Running game and the dolts we have on Offensive line are to blame here.  What can disput that argument is that his numbers are significantly better in day games played.  Your thoughts?

Interesting... but....

Would diabeties affect his sight during the day as well? I wouldn’t think it’s a disease that just says well it’s night time so I’m going to F with your vision and running ability.

Good Question...............

From what I understand about the disease is that the symptoms are minimized by regulating your sugar level. I just wonder if it affects Jay differently an Night because he has been awake longer. After he wakes up and takes his insullin shot for the Day perhaps he feels great for the first 6 to 8 hours and then it starts affecting him later in the day?

by Gesiakob on Nov 14, 2009 2:28 PM CST up reply actions

I can see what your getting at. But I'm not diabetic so I can't answer that.

I think as long as he keeps it level it shouldn’t matter the of day. But I like that you are looking for a better answer than Jay is an alcoholic.

bears in general suck at night

with few exceptions, da team never fails to suck it up at night games. shame they are letting the suckage run rampant this year.

by reefermadness3 on Nov 14, 2009 2:41 PM CST reply actions

at night

when the bears play in a broadly televised game,ie to the nation they either play like the cardiac bears and come from behind win or they go totally in the opposite direction and lose ugly when all the signs are they should have won.

by stepeo on Nov 15, 2009 3:26 AM CST up reply actions

They do play bad at night

but both of our huge blowouts were during the day not nationally televised. Wonder how the Iggles game will go? It’ll be the first home night game coming of two bad losses, maybe both the O and D show up.

The Two Daytime Blowouts

Were on the Defense and Defensive scheme being exploited. It made out Offense one dimentional and we don’t have the type of Receivers to rebound from that type of thing.

this is the dumbest analysis ever

ever stop to think that they play better competition at night?

and they played atlanta in a dome.

I was told that I ruined this house with my anger

by tempchad on Nov 14, 2009 4:52 PM CST reply actions

i wouldn't say dumbest..

but yup. Reason they are at night is cause they are marquee games. Two tough.. well one tough team playing.

by GtM on Nov 14, 2009 5:48 PM CST up reply actions

49'ers Are Tough?

Coming off of 4 consecutive losses going into the game with the 24th ranked Pass defense? I regretfully disagree.

by Gesiakob on Nov 14, 2009 9:13 PM CST up reply actions

night games are just bigger.

you know mike had them fired up about playing at night against his old team. packers suck too, but they played their hearts out on national tv in week one. its how most teams play during the night games.

by GtM on Nov 14, 2009 9:55 PM CST up reply actions

There's more to it now though since we got beat by SF

SF is NOT better competition and no amount of bribery or good drugs will convince me otherwise.

You make it sound like they’re playing NE, IND, BAL, NO, etc.

CHI played GB, ATL, and SF. Average-Good, Above-Average-Good, and Bad-Average. They aren’t the class of the league.

I’m not saying its his diabetes or anything like that, could be, could just be he doesn’t bring it in night games, maybe he wants to go to bed early, maybe he’s in the Milton Bradley “4 Quarters and Done” club, I don’t know.

by SJS_illini on Nov 16, 2009 10:27 AM CST up reply actions

Exactly.

Three teams we’re better than … beat us at night.

Very interesting

As a type-1 diabetic, I played in a night softball league this fall and couldn’t track a fly ball without my glasses. I usually only wear them while driving at night, and sometimes reading.

Never played in a dome

It was outside with spotty lighting on deep, fly balls.

my point was that i don't think cutler's problems have anything to do with night games

he didn’t play great against atlanta. and we haven’t played detroit or cleveland at night.

What About Pittsburg Temp-chad?

Was that inferior competition? Day game just for your slant on things.

by Gesiakob on Nov 14, 2009 9:11 PM CST up reply actions

what? i'm not saying he can't play well against tougher teams

i’m saying that the bad games at night probably has more to do with better opponents than eye sight.

Well

when Cutler was at his best, 2nd Half of the Pittsburgh game, it was dark!!

by McRipper on Nov 16, 2009 9:17 AM CST up reply actions

Are You Serious Here?

Time of day was late afternoon. Which was prior to the start of the night games he playen in.

by Gesiakob on Nov 16, 2009 10:36 AM CST up reply actions

Yeah I'm serious!!!

Where do you live in Chicago that at 6:00-6:30, which is what time that game ended in Central Time, it’s still dayllight?

by McRipper on Nov 16, 2009 11:52 AM CST up reply actions

Kinda hard for it to be truly dark...

When it was still September and it didn’t start getting dark before 6:30.

Date of game: Sept 20.

Sunset was officially 6:56 PM CDT.

Might’ve been STARTING to get dark… but it wasn’t DARK dark.

Good Info

but it definitely wasn’t light out. It was raining and overcast all day too wasn’t it? I’m just saying it wasn’t light out when Cutler made some crucial throws on that last drive to get Gould out on the field.

I just think the whole premise that he doesn’t play well at night because he can’t see is ridiculous. He’s made great throws in every night game. If he literally didn’t complete a single pass and threw 20 ints in one game, then I’d think there was something to this.

by McRipper on Nov 16, 2009 2:26 PM CST up reply actions

I Understand You Disagree McRipper.

I just think you lose some credibility when statements are made that are not true. I just suggest maybe researching the facts prior to trying to difuse somebodies theory.

Major self-fail

6:51 PM CDT

Ended up punching in the wrong zip code instead of Chicago. So… A little darker than I said.

Always the skeptic

I agree with Gesia on this one….probably more to do with prime-time games, but don’t underestimate what diabetes can do to someone’s eyes. If Jay’s sugar-levels are high, there’s a very good chance it affects his vision at night.

hey

This is really grasping at straws to make up for bad coaching, bad play by our Bears. I presume the Bears have a medical staff on their team, and I presume that they are more than the average PA that you and I get to see- in other words REAL MD’s. Having said that, don’t you think that if there was a problem with Cutler’s eyes they would have figured it out by now? Geez!….

Sure

but a doc can only tell him what to do, he has to commit to keeping it under control. Does anyone know if he wears contacts? That would end this discussion in a hurry.

WOW!

You give an incompetent organization a lot of credit to this point. I think you are entitled to your opinion. I also think there will be more Night games this Year to help validate my theory. I think it is clear we have a person on this site that says he shares the same disease Cutler has and it affects his vision at Night.

by Gesiakob on Nov 16, 2009 12:23 AM CST up reply actions

WOW! you take the idea of some internet guy over the team that pays him millions

looking at cutlers last two years he has had good night games and bad night games. the good ones coming against bad teams and the bad ones coming against good team.

this is the dumbest idea i have ever seen here.

I was told that I ruined this house with my anger

by tempchad on Nov 16, 2009 1:36 AM CST up reply actions

Most likely it's a non-issue

but there’s no proof dismissing the idea. If you looked up high-blood sugar symptoms you would know that fatigue, blurred vision, and nausea can result from it. Even without a high level, especially at night, his vision could be affected. I realize Jay tests his blood a few times a game, and will take the necessary steps to remedy the situation, but it’s a very volatile disease. Does anyone know if he wears contacts? If he does, then it’s a moot point.

The night games were prime-time

And there may have been added pressure in those games because of the national audience. But if this trend continues, you might be on to something.

I wonder how he’s done in his career heading into this season, playing at night?

Is It The Diabeties?

I’m not saying is is. I’m just saying it’s one possiblity for his QB Rating to be 52.0 during Night Games. There is something there with a TD to Interception ratio of 3 TD’s to 11 INT. So unless the NFL changes the Game start time against Philadelphia I think the Bears lose big on Sunday Night.
