Sunday Evening Game Thread

Wcg_thumb_game_medium
Now that our weekend chores should be coming to a wrap, let's take a look at what's going on around the league:

- Vince Young looked good as the Titans got a win over the Bills.

- Drew Brees and the Saints kept their perfect season intact by beating the Rams.

- The Vikings coasted against the Lions.

- After a good first half performance, Kyle Orton injured his ankle, and did not return for the second half.

Games this evening (worth mentioning):

- Cowboys @ Packers

- Eagles @ Chargers

- Late game: Patriots @ Colts

At end of Viking/Lion game

they’re throwing out ideas for nicknames for the Viking d-line…

3 men & a mullet.

(They decided on “Shock & Awe” which… is lame, but 3 men & a mullet made me ROFL)

that's a good one!

Hey, if the WCG late game open thread doesn't take off,

you can try the Stampede Blue one. They are lively and accepting of all stripes of fandom.

Man, I know as a Bears fan I should hate the pack, but I soooo hate the cowboys.

Maybe a fumble fest resulting in a tie?? Or a meteor shower that shuts the whole affair down?

Pulling for a Colts rout over the Patriots

inRe: Bengals: Really, does anyone trust Marvin Lewis in January?

inRe: Titans: Inexplicable. Somehow the defense plays better with Vince Young out there even though Vince Young himself doesn’t play well at all.

InRe: Jets: Mark Sanchez at 5 looks a lot worse than Jay Cutler for two firsts.

3 men and a mullet made me lol

Is Jerry Angelo fired yet?

Reasonable stream for SD vs Philly

Boy the Bears really blew it not beating the 49ers

The way this weekend is shaking down. they would’ve been in great shape for a playoff spot. Now they need things to happen.

by Dils on Nov 15, 2009 4:16 PM CST reply actions

When the Bears lose...

They often hurt their playoff chances… I think that is pretty common for most teams… losing really isn’t the best way to get into post season.

somebody should inform the Bears organization

The Broncos looked good for one half...

and when baby Sims came in it was a completely different game. I hope it ain’t something that is serious, this could be bad for the Broncos if it is.

That’s not true!!! WHY THE F*CK WOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU AHOLE!! Ok maybe your right but you gotta give a little something here for it to work. I don’t know what I’m going to do this is the worst thing I’ve ever read, this day could not get any worse. Fine, F*ck it, you’re right.

After watching a few games today,

it is amazing how an good OL can make all the difference in the world. Forget WRs… a great OL can make an average QB really good.

As well as make an average RB good...

Friggin’ a…

Logan Mankins

would be a nice upgrade at guard!

Faulk

was the biggest recipient of a good OL in tonight’s game. He didn’t get touched for like 8 yards on most of his runs.

After watching Randy Moss tonight

There is no reason why the Bears shouldn’t have taken a chance on Terrell Owens. We can spend a 2nd round pick on Gaines Adams but couldn’t spend a 5th on TO? This Organization is terrible!

by Dils on Nov 15, 2009 8:39 PM CST reply actions

Moss != TO

Did you see TO implode on Buffalo sidelines today? Moss, before the last year in Oakland, NEVER had any of those issues.

Not the same situation.

Dat.

Moss is to Owens as Cadillac is to Kia.

by sabbath999 on Nov 16, 2009 9:30 AM CST up reply actions

Tough to compare those two,

completely different styles and personalities.

by Fridge72 on Nov 15, 2009 10:11 PM CST up reply actions

TO vs. JC

Those two would get into a fist-fight if things didn’t go well. Most likely, they wouldn’t be much better with that headcase on the team.

by propheteer on Nov 15, 2009 11:09 PM CST up reply actions

Screw TO

I can’t believe the Bears didn’t offer a 3rd rounder for Moss before the 2007 season!! The Pats got him for a 4th rounder and the rest is history. That guy is the greatest deep threat WR in NFL history and the Bears probably didn’t even consider trading for him when he was on the block.

by McRipper on Nov 16, 2009 8:13 AM CST up reply actions

Did we have a line that could block long enough for a passer to throw it long and accurate enough to make use of him?

And?

That’s not all Moss is capable of doing!! He catches everything thrown his way and there’s no denying his red zone threat!! Plus, Defenses wouldn’t be able to stack the box. If you have a chance to get a HOF WR for a 4th round pick, you get him.

by McRipper on Nov 17, 2009 8:13 AM CST up reply actions

man oh man that colts and pats game

Is it safe to assume either one of those team will win superbowl? The game was soo amazing its was just remarkable and just deep appreciation for football and entertainment these two teams put out. Great game.

by Man G on Nov 15, 2009 10:44 PM CST reply actions

It's depressing

to see two great teams like those, cause I know the Bears haven’t been one for awhile.

I turned it on after the Blackhawks game was over

I saw the score was 31-14 Patriots in the 4th quarter and switched channels to watch SportsNite. I figured the game was pretty much over…oops!

That ball hit deep! Way back! You can put it on the boooaaaard...YES!

Long drive into deep right center field! This ball is OUTTA HEEERRRREE!

Feel bad for KO

Talk about deja vu. Another ankle injury in a game against an underdog opponent whose season is already pretty much over. At least we managed to beat the Lions after KO went down last year but then again so did everybody else. Never thought I’d compliment Grossman but he did a better job subbing for Orton last year than Simms did today. Wonder if we’ll see a repeat of last year, where KO rushes back probably a game, maybe two, too soon and never really gets his form back. Let him rest Josh! You’re still in good shape for the playoffs.
