Chambers Waived
"The San Diego Chargers lost patience with wide receiver Chris Chambers and waived him Monday, according to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter, freeing Chambers to sign with another team.
He was replaced in the Chargers' lineup two weeks ago after not making a play on four balls thrown his way.
Chambers has nine catches for 122 yards and a touchdown, but had clearly fallen out of favor with quarterback Phillips Rivers."

Didn't he used to be good?
I'm still confident with Hester at #1, Bennett at #2, and Knox getting healthy PT.

I know you didn't,
but before someone does… No, just no!

Yea
I hate myself for posting it, but pretty big name getting waived into the free agent market. Hell, we don’t even let DA suit up for games still!

I saw him in uniform
at the Cincy game… DA towered over the rest of our WRs. I admit, I was excited. I turned to my brother and said, “See DA, man he’s big… hopefully Turner can get him involved more”.
My brother said, “Ya no sh**, he’s huge”. Then I turned back towards the field and it was 21-0.

He was “active” for the ATL game too. I wonder how many teams let so few WRs onto the field. Maybe he doesn’t know the playbook or keeps messing up in practice? But after seeing him at OTAs and during pre-season action, I don’t know how you can’t have him in there to give him a shot. Stubbornness I guess by our coachs.

It's weird
I know in my head that Ron turner is a competent coach… He and Lovie know more about football than I can dream about… And yet, I find myself questioning sooo much of what they do. Guess that’s what being a fan is all about.

ummm i wouldnt mind
them talking a shot at him we dont really need wide outs but honestly we really only use what three recievers it would be cool to throw another one out there but im not gonna go crazy if they dont get him
can he play left tackle?

Who would you cut?
Hester? No.
Knox? No.
Bennett? No.
Davis? No, and before you start, can Chambers play ST’s?
Iglesias? No… Third round pick (see Bennett’s progression from year 1-2).
DA? Maybe, but Aromashodu’s not seeing the field as it is, and wasn’t he the fan favorite in camp? Plus, Chambers would require more money than DA – to ride the pine.
Wide Receiver is the least of our worries.

Way to damn our receivers with faint praise.
Yeah, compared to punchless offensive and defensive lines, no depth at CB and our crumbling running game, wide receivers are the least of worries. So effing what? Always look to upgrade! I’m not saying that Chambers would be an upgrade, but don’t dismiss an idea just because it’s not the biggest area of concern.

Did I?
I’m pretty sure I compared him to the rest of our receivers and still said no.
If Boldin was cut tomorrow because he slept with Wisenhunt’s wife, I’d be all for making an “upgrade.” Please don’t stereotype me because I’m not willing to make a play for every wide receiver on the market.

This has little to do with wide receivers.
I just don’t understand why people reject an upgrade at one position primarily because of larger needs at other. This isn’t like the draft where using a pick on one position costs you a chance to upgrade at another, this is taking a flyer on a waived player.
He isn’t great, but if a Bears receiver goes down, would you rather have Rashied Davis as our third receiver.

DA over Chambers? I like DA, but that is a stretch.
by brands735 on Nov 2, 2009 10:56 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
but look at the 2 mil Chambers will cost
plus for that money, he’d instantly be plugged in a number 2, and i dont think he’d be all that great, considering his lack of production since 07 with Rivers throwing to him… so, i have to say, with all factors considered, DA is the better, cheaper, younger(?), option

I don’t think we should pursue Chambers. I think someone will quickly though. However in a free league and if we needed a WR, I would rather have Chambers than DA no questions asked.

I can't believe
we still haven’t seen any DA. Pre-season he was Jay’s first look every time he was in the game.

*cough*
i would cut Davis… on principle, but not to sign Chambers

Wolfe and AP
are both better ST players. I’m not saying we should sign Chambers if we do, but Rashied is getting has been on my least-favorite list for awhile now.

Relax
No one is saying we should pick him up, but it is part of today’s football news, he could very well sign with one of our future opponents the Baltimore Ravens.

Alright but that better be the ONLY reason it was posted.
You might not be saying we need him with this post but by posting this you are going to spark the WE NEED CHAMBERS chant led by people like dakoose!

Anything
is better than hearing how our offensive line should be LT-Williams, LG-Idonije(in another post today), C Beekman, RG Garza, and RT -Omiyale
The truth about the offensive line is it ain’t getting better this year…at least the topic of WR is something we can all smile about cause basically our guys are producing as a solid group, no pro-bowlers, but production.

Which post. I hope you are joking.

Pretty sure it was a joke in the Quotable Bears board. The O-line is what it is though, moving people around won’t help it, our coaching staff has to adapt.

???? What ..... ?
The Chargers dump a piece of shit receiver …. soooo the Chicago Bears should pick him up ? I wouldn’t cut Rashied Davis for him. I would pursue Malcom Floyd and see what they want … he’s 6’5. I’m tired of short-arsed receivers. An advantage in the running game, not so in receiving. We didn’t make a move for Brandon Marshall, Terrell Owens, Boldin, Braylon Edwards etc. so ‘management’ obviously are finished looking for receivers. Go get Brandon Frakking Rideau back !
