Garrett Wolfe
Now a lot of you have been doubting Wolfe and saying he cannot be an effective compliment to Matt Forte
Well I don't think so
Lets take a look at the stats
22 carries 120 yards
1TD
YPC-5.5
Long-36
Now this is behind a horrendous o-line and some stupid into the gut play calling by Ron Turner that somehow he has turned into big plays(or a good gain by carriying guys on his back or refusing to go down without being completely surrounded). Turner has also not used Wolfe at all in the passing game with only 2 catches for 12. He could be very effective in the screen game but silly Turner does not know how to use anybody.
Also don't say it was in garbage time since he ran HARD and the defense couldn't bring him down with one guy. Also if people just give up they shouldn't be playing.
Some reminders
and here
Plus other plays which didn't make the highlight reel but were nice
Wolfe is a good compliment rb who makes the line look ok

I think Wolfe is a great RB
and when he is inevitably cut by the Bears… he will come back to haunt us

You have a bromance with Garrett Wolfe.
And Garrett Wolfe nor any other RB could make our O-line look “ok”

I hate the comparison's to Sproles
because we don’t use him like Sproles! Now if we set him up on flares in the flat and strong sweeps it would be a good comparison. We don’t know how to use him.
Just like the Atlanta game, the Falcons learned how to use Norwood very well, to the outside to open up the running lanes for Turner. We caught on 2 quarters later. Wolfe may be good, he may be undersized, we will never know though because his skill set isn’t used properly enough.

I don’t think Wolfe could ever be an effective NFL starter. I know other short guys like Jones-Drew and DeAngelo Williams are good, but Wolfe doesn’t have enough muscle.

He is not even an effective backup..

I guess
A team best 5.5 ypc isn’t “effective”. He’s doing his job acceptably, and he’s becoming a damned good ST player. He’s played fine this year.

Defenses don't "key" on Wolfe
when he comes in. That’s the reason why he’s looked decent so far.

i dont care what the stats say
Omiyale is leading the team giving up sacks… ask Cutler, he’ll tell you

Wolf could be fine in his current role if...
1. The o-line could run or pass block.
2. AP or Forte were a legitimate short yardage threat.
3. The offense had running plays designed to use his quickness to the corner or on screens or draws, not i-formation runs up the middle into the teeth of the defense.
Then he would be fine. Now either he or AP is wasting a roster spot because the Bears can’t run well anyway, but need playmakers they currently don’t have or haven’t developed!
When you find yourself in a hole, STOP DIGGING!!!

good points
but Wolfe is still averaging 5.5 ypc. With this o-line, and his percieved lack of skill, that’s an impressive stat. He is running harder this year than in years past, there’s no disputing that.
