Bears 2010 schedule released.

The Bears 2010 teams have been released, pending the "corresponding finishers."  Using this year as a basis, it's not the worst you've ever seen, but it could be pretty tough, especially if some of those teams that are solid running teams keep running, and we keep not bothering to stop teams from doing what they feel.

Here's the link, and some thoughts below.

Star-divide

Home: Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, New England Patriots, New York Jets, NFC West corresponding finisher, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings

Away:
Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, NFC South corresponding finisher, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings

Philadelphia again, eh? That's always fun...at least these recent ones we beat them. Washington is schizo--but they're one of those teams that might go hogwild with no cap. They could potentially buy themselves some upgrades.

The Patriots are the Patriots...they seem to contend. The Jets could be good, but that vaunted Ryan defense is going to need a few more playmakers, and Sanchez is going to have to get consistently stronger at making good judgements.

Our division is our division. We all know it.

The Dallas team, as it's currently comprised, seems like one of those teams that's just never going to be good enough. They have flashes, sometimes look great, and other times...wow.  Just wow.

It's hard to say yet if Eli has truly regressed, or is just having a down period. Still, the Giants are a solid, if unspectacular team, and will probably maintain that level next year.

Buffalo...could be interesting? Depends if they land who they'd like to land to run things, but even then I'd imagine they need a year or two to get well-rounded. Miami can run, and run, and Henne manages that team pretty well. Bess is having a really great year for himself right now, and hopefully can continue it. (I like the guy.)

At this rate, like Biggs says in the article, you're likely looking at Seattle and the Panthers, though maybe the next 6 weeks can get really interesting.

So what say you, Bears Fans? Who's optimistic for next year, and where are the doomsayers? I command you---Discuss!

ONLY WAY WE HAVE ANY CHANCE (small chance) OF WINNING THAT GAME IS IF IT IS AT HOME.

Cruise Control for Cool?

LOL!

It looks like he had to hit the brakes in the middle though, but got right back on the cruise control. Just awesome.

Well, there's always the chance.....

that belicheck goes for it on 4th and 2 on his own 30.

Of course, he probably gets that against us because we gave an eight yard cushion, but still.

Am I the

only one that actually liked that call? If the ball wasn’t juggled, it would’ve been game over!

And I don’t think Belichick didn’t “trust” his defense, as some have said, I just think he trusted his offense more. And who wouldn’t?

I would've punted

but if I was on their side of the field I could see why they would go for it, but on your own 28 with Peyton Manning on the other team, no thanks punt

by DaHamsta on Nov 20, 2009 7:07 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

even if you had Tom Brady?

(and the Patriots OL)

I get why punting was a good idea, but I still like it.

I like the call as well

The Pats are good on 4th down and Manning owned their D during the 4th quarter. He didn’t even need 2 mins to put a TD on the board in the drive before that.

by TrialsBass on Nov 20, 2009 8:27 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Yup.

Plus, the Colts still had to get a TD to win the game no matter what, since they were down by six. Some teams (cough) have a tougher time scoring with a shorter field.

seemed like a good idea to me

1st down and game’s over. saw a stat that pats converted 78 percent of 4th and 2 over recent memory. i like that anyday over even starting manning on his own 1 with 90 seconds left.

If you're 10-15 yards down field.

I’m all for it. But doing it there? That’s basically saying, “We get it, we win. We don’t, we definitely lose this game.”

Two yards

may seem like a country mile for the Bears offense, but NE has an amazing OL, great receivers, one of the games best QB’s and a great offensive system. If it’s the Bears offense, no way. Patriots… worth the risk.

And they weren’t conceding the victory if they didn’t convert, Indy still had to get into the end zone to win.

They were kinda conceding the victory.

For starters, the Patriots really just bungled the whole thing, clock management and all. I don’t think it was a particularly great offensive play called to get the two yards, but that’s a different argument.

I realize statistics say, yeah, they probably should’ve gone for it, and they probably should’ve had it. (They got awfully close, but I think the official had the right call)

But there’s a certain intangible that you’re looking at in the Colts offense that my gut tells me —try to make things as hard as possible for them.

It’s just hard for me, personally, to imagine saying “We’re going to try this. If not, we’re going to give one of the best to ever play the game 2 minutes to go less than 30 yards.”

I don’t mind the inherent gutsiness of a call like that, but all of the preceding bunglework just makes me say WTF

agreed

the pre-4th down bungling is what screwed them. prime example is wasting those timeouts and then not having one to challenge the spot of the ball.

i’m already looking forward the the home game vs the jets. think thomas jones will get some love from the fans first time his name is called?

What Say I ?

I say that I cannot predict how well we will fare until I see what off season moves the Bears make. Top priority should be Receivers followed by Offensive Linemen. The Team need to be built around Jay Cutler’s strenghts. So until the Draft next April and offseason aquisitions that are made I have to bite my tongue for now. I do wonder what kind of schedule the Vikings received. I think the schedule makers punish NFC North teams because they play the Lions twice a Year.

by Gesiakob on Nov 20, 2009 8:38 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

what? no

We have acceptable receivers and a god awful OLine. O Line comes first. I would love to see a top shelf receiver though. At least we don’t have to play the Bengals or Cardinals next year.

by TrialsBass on Nov 20, 2009 9:01 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

That's All I'm Saying TrialBass

A top shelf Receiver. A Boldin or like a Steve Smith. I agree with you Offensive Line should be first.

The Call?

In the Indianapolis vs N.E game? One of the worst calls I have ever seen at the Professional level. At his own 28? You can’t be serious. You just don’t do that. I don’t care who your playing.

Tell Bellichick,

but I doubt he can hear you over all the bling!

I agree, but ...

I heard it said … he was basically saying at 3rd down “I’ve got two plays to get two yards to win the game with the NE Patriots.” And if you couldn’t do that you don’t deserve to win anyway. Don’t agree with it personally. Make them go seventy yards and score. Manning isn’t Jesus Christ.
