Eagles Vs. Bears - 3rd Quarter Thread

I don't even know what to make of the Bears any longer, but they need to put together a big win streak.  With Minnesota twice, Baltimore, and one more versus the Packers, it is getting a bit hard to seeing the Bears make magic happen. They certainly have talent at a lot of positions, but the offensive line needs to be completely retooled, and they need to figure out how to tighten up the secondary.

The Bears are welcoming the high flying Philadelphia Eagles, and it is not a good thing to think of McNabb, Jackson and Maclin against our banged up secondary.   Al Afalava is expected to play, but Kevin Payne is listed as doubtful.  On the Philly side Brian Westbrook is out and pretty much their entire secondary is either out or coming off of an injury.

Not to take anything away from Bell, but there were holes which he hit. Forte hasn’t seen too many of those – but he’s made gains when he has, even if they subsequently get wiped out by holding penalties.

Also, if you think a sample size of 3 is representative, I have some funds which I would like your assistance in moving out of Nigeria…..

I still maintain that they have chicks at the sidelines (all the networks) because they are less likely to get smacked in the mouth by the players than dude interviewers are.

I’m also quite disgusted at the meathead element of the fanbase, so anything that might shut up their flip-flopping is to be welcomed.

yeah, our D is just not good

very inconsistent. we generally suck against the run, get little pressure on the QB, can’t fool anyone with our blitzes, and play our DBs 10 yards off the WRs. i thought it was hilarious when colingsworth was talking about how good the eagles o-line was playing tonight because we couldn’t get a pass rush on them…we haven’t generated a pass rush since 2006, which was the last time the D was any good.

Hey...

If we won out… 11-5, all I’m saying. Taco Pie can call me delusional all he likes, but 11-5 would’ve given us a realistic shot at the playoffs, amiright?

Not that I thought we’d really win out.

Why would I?

But would winning out, however unfeasible it may have been, given us a “shot” at the playoffs?

It's irrational to believe a mediocre team would play better than mediocre.

They aren’t going to win out because they don’t have the talent. Cutler is the only playmaker on offense. On defense you have Briggs and tonight Peanut and Alex Brown showed up. This team doesn’t have enough talent to win out thus it’s delusional to believe they could. They still have to play the Vikings twice, let’s be realistic, here.

the kind of team who has an inept o-coordinator

turner was really really bad tonight. just some awful plays called. i know cutler was off, but how do you not take a few more shots to johnny knox deep with an injured sheldon brown on him??? though i suppose the bubble screen that never ever works is a good call. or forte up the middle with no fb for 1 yard.

Bad as Cutler has been

He has proven when he has a good coach, good o-line, and good WR’s he can produce. Yeah he makes bad throws, but maybe it’s because our WR’s can’t get open?

Homecoming

by illwill on Nov 22, 2009 10:50 PM CST reply actions

Pretty sure Olsen can't sell out to catch a pass

Also pretty sure Olsen gets knocked back five yards when he makes a catch late in the game. Also pretty sure Olsen will drop the ball for no reason when he’s open as well. The whole offense is inconsistent. Cutler has no margin for error because of the ineptitude around him.
