I'm 4D- Disgusted, Dejected, Disappointed and Ditka

I know I should probably save my ramblings until tomorrow, but I can't go to bed until I air out my thoughts.  I'm not trying to come off sounding like a fair weather fan though.

Star-divide

I don't really want to rehash what we already know but some of it I'm going to have to cover, because it just pisses me off.  Cutler looked HORRIBLE tonight.  Yes he threw only one pick, that was of course on the last drive of the game.  The interception monster has gotten a hold of Jay and is now residing in his head on a couch watching TV all day rewinding all of Jays bad moments.  He so afraid to make a pick he's overthrowing his receivers.  I'm sure we all saw how he's throwing off his back foot and not getting his hips turned or anything.  Not sure what Pep Hamilton does but it sure as hell isn't teaching mechanics.  I don't really have much else to say about Cutler, he needs to pull it together and try to have some fun out there it's really just painful to watch how he has regressed this year.  I don't know what to do to fix it but something has to give somewhere.

Now onto my buddy Ron Turner.  Seriously his play calling sucks huge monkey balls.  I never have been an offensive coordinator and I realize there are a lot of factors that go into how a play actually comes off to be determined a success.  I have noticed the plays he calls do not establish a rhythm or flow at all.  The Iggles were all over the screen tonight and yet he kept calling it in all the wrong situations.  Middle of the field appeared to be open on occasion as well and we didn't seem to attack it.  And if the passing game wasn't bad enough, I had to see Hesters ass on my tv during the replay of his catch.....

Someone needs to tell Forte this is not dancing with the stars, seriously Matt find the hole and hit it, if it's not there don't just run into a pile of 5 or 6 guys and fall down.  It was nice to see Bell get that huge run and he looked to be running with a little more heart than Forte.  Still overall take away the big run and our run game sucked once again.

The Defense played pretty well for the most part, but again I'm just frustrated with how soft of a D that it is.  They did force 3 turnovers but the offense didn't help them out and do much with them.  Gaines Adams was a waste of a second round pick, you don't believe me watch Alex Brown match up against the same guys for a lot more success.  Run D sucks and we still don't tackle all that well.  The absense of Brian Urlacher was all over the Sean McCoy touchdown.

I think it's safe to say that the playoffs are just about out of reach, I think I chances were on life support to begin with but now I think someone just needs to give our hopes a DNR.  Time to go back to the drawing board and figure out a way to win a few games down the stretch and try to be competitive.  Anyway I've ranted enough, thanks for letting me get this off my chest.  Your thoughts on the matter are greatly appreciated.

you summed it up pretty well

I agree on Pep and Turner, and believe they need to be gone.

I'm Really Dissapointed Right Now.

This Team let us all down again. I’m out of suggestions, solutions or advice. I made the same ’Dancing With The Stars ’ comment about Forte during the game blog. I agree with everything you said Ditka.

What bothers me the most

is that there doesn’t seem to be a single facet of the game where we look good. Even our special teams are not playing to the level we’re used to seeing. This team is in need of an almost complete overhaul, and we don’t have the draft picks to do it with. Even if we did, I don’t know that we’ve got a staff capable of building a team from the bottom up.

Aside from KO coverage maybe

what aspect of special teams is underperforming?

Special teams are about the only thing the team has going for it.

Gould and Maynard have both been fine.

It’s been the coverage that’s been lacking. It’s not terrible by any means, but they seem to be giving up a lot more yardage than I’ve come to expect. Robbie seems to be having to make a lot more tackles than I like to see a kicker have to make. I will say though, it’s nice to see a kicker willing to put a hit on someone and not just pretend to be pursuing as so many of them are apt to do. I think that must be the soccer players…

I understand your frustration and I've probably bored most people with my disregard for this coaching staff

over the last few months, but to me it still comes down to accountability. I don’t know Pep Hamilton but I just can’t see him being the guy to coach a player like Jay Cutler. I don’t blame Pep for that, I blame Jay and I blame Lovie. My reasons are that I assume Jay is told about his mechanics but unless he’s willing to listen and make the changes himself, all the teaching in the world isn’t going to change things. Since Jay isn’t listening, it’s up to Lovie to say “one more throw off your back foot when there’s little to no pressure and your joining me on the sidelines for the rest of the game”. Now that the playoffs are virtually gone, even more reason to pull anyone who’s not playing up to their abilities.

This season, a few of the players have put out the kind of effort needed to win in the NFL, most notably Alex Brown. He is the only D-lineman who week after week seems to go 110% and truly seems upset when we lose. If you put Alex Brown on a team with other good players, he’d be a Pro Bowler every year. Also, Johnny Knox always makes things exciting when he’s on the field. He makes some rookie mistakes, sure, but he has a great motor and seems to be playing at a different pace than any other offensive player out there, and not just because of his speed. His block for Bell on the long run was as much fun to watch as the run itself.

I always remember Gary Fencik being interviewed and being asked what was the difference in the Bears when Ditka took over and he said that during the first team meeting Iron Mike said something to the effect that the Bears would win the Super Bowl in a few years and that most of the guys in the room wouldn’t be around to enjoy it. That’s accountability, something this team is sorely lacking.

Well,

good catch, and not an unpleasant Google search. I have heard that song that she apparently borrowed off of Eminem, didn’t know the name of the singer. Just lazy spelling on my part.

Misspelling aside, I still agree with what BearFan611 said:)

You mean the one of hers that he sampled?

That's true, he did sample her song, not the other way around.

I believe it’s called doing a P Diddy.

It could go either way,

I haven’t really kept up with either. Pretty much all I know about it came from a Google search yesterday and two minutes of looking at the results. Most of those were pictures and a little youtube.

Ughh

So hot, yet such bad music. Almost went and saw her at the Park West about 10 years ago because I heard she was supposed to be good (just a little while before she broke out). So glad I didn’t waste my money. God I miss that place. That was such an awesome venue to see a show.

hey

at least bowman looks good. i think he’s one of our steals for the draft from last year. having one full year under his belt starting will only help his average cover skills.

I’m excited about the kid.

if we had Izzy at RB

he could just throw the pile out of the way
Izzy also got a sack

One thought on mechanics ...

How do you do anything else but throw off your back foot when you have sluice gates instead of an offensive line. Remember Favre last year ? TDS = INTS for him. Having time to set your feet etc. is a luxury he doesn’t always have …

by Irish Bears Fan on Nov 25, 2009 12:53 AM CST reply actions

I get that he can't always use perfect mechanics

but watch the film, he throws off his back foot even when it’s not neccessary that he does so.
