Well since 2009 is over lets talk about who should stay for 2010
Lets start off with coaches
Rod Marinelli- Line has shown improvement.
Bob Babich(I'll catch fire for this one)-But as LB coach only he has done a good job as the LB coach.
Dave Toub- one of the few bright spots still on the team as far as coaches.
Thats all i have for coaches.
Now its time for the defense.
DL- Tommie Harris( i know i know) But i believe with a fire under his ass he can be great again,
Israel Idonije, Jaron Gilbert(still young), Anthony Adams, Marcus Harrison, Alex Brown, Gaines Adam(cause I want to see why the hell we traded for him.
DB- Charles Tillman, Corey Graham, D.J. Moore, Zackery Bowman, Al Afalava, Kevin Payne, Daniel Manning
LB- Lance Briggs, Brian Urlacher, Pisa Tinosamoa(if he's not made of glass next year), Tim Shaw, Nick Roach, Darrell McClover
K- Easy keeper Mr. Gould
Lets get to the offense.
WR- Earl Bennett, Devin Aromashodu, Johnny Knox/Devin Hester(same person as someone has already stated on a post), Juaquin Iglesias( want to see what he can do)
QB-Jay Cutler, Caleb Haine(doesn't seem to bad for a back up)
HB- Kahil Bell(maybe it was a one time thing but i would like to see more) Forte???
TE-Greg Olsen(even though he seems to be scared to get hit), Kellen Davis(i'm a fan of Dez but we need to get younger no problems with him staying though.
OL-Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Chris williams, I'm lost on this one.
Well I'm really bored/drinking and I figure we can start a new conversation. I'm sure everyone has who they want to stick around for next year. So everyone put your 2 cents in.

Generally agree...
I say trade out Hester and possibly Olsen. D Manning is a bust and needs to go; he cannot cover or tackle so why keep him? Beekman moves to C and Williams stays. Kreutz just goes away. Wolfe is gone and so is R Davis. Forte and Bell seem like a great tandem. Mostly though, Lovie has got to be outright fired. The only coach that can be considered for next year is Dave Taub(sp.). G Adams looks pretty bad. Vasher goes and Graham stays. I want to get a better look at Gilbert, DA, and Moore. I think a few FA signings and maybe a trade or 2 and the Bears (assuming they have new coaches) have a good core of talent to build on. Need to add a FS, OG, OT, DT, and #1WR to improve this team.

I can agree with that D manning can go.
Graham can fill in good for the nickel back. As far as OL we need some serious FA signings.

I would not be really upset
if they fired Lovie and gave the job to Dave Toub. If they do, however, I think they have to bring in solid, quality coordinators. Perhaps some of the money saved by giving Toub a HC job would be utilized to bring in these components. Unfortunately, for that, is the eating of a contract that I don’t see getting eaten unless the Bears lose out. And probably not even then.

Charlie Weis as OC!!!!

Why?
I’ve heard this before but I want you to make a case for it. Being one of Belichick’s cronies isn’t good enough either.

I would not advocate for Toub as HC...
he can stay at ST coordinator. I think a Cowher or Shanny is the best option. I personally vote for Cowher. He fits the blue-collar ethos of the team. It all depends on how committed the management and ownership are to winning football games as a means to increase the overall value of their franchise. If they are happy floating along making money though legacy fan support and revenue sharing, then the levels of fan frustration will continue.

I'm not advocating it.
I’m just saying it’d be less offensive to me than, say, a poorer choice.

Also, I'm not sure that the "blue collar" team isn't kind of a myth at this point.
Back when, during the offseason, players worked in quarries or mines or moving cattle or whatever else people did before I was born.
At this point…they play football. Many of them really won’t relate to the “common man” that well, especially since the lowest of them makes 5 times as much as your average blue collar gentleman/woman.

So that takes it from being ethos to mythos...
but still, I think the team needs an identity that Lovie has failed to provide.

Here's my list of who should go:
Coaches: Lovie, Turner
Players: A. Adams, Dvoracek, Wolfe, Jones, Hillenmeyer, Vasher, Clark, Pace, Kreutz, Manning, Davis
Do you guys think Moore could take Manning’s place at safety? I think he’s too short for cornerback. Just the thought of a 5’ 9’’ corner matching up against a 6’ 5’’ Calvin Johnson is scary.

The thought of Moore at FS is intriguing
He’s a ballhawk who plays the ball magnificently. Only question is: how effective would he be against the run?

Not very.
But come on, he’s a DB. Their main job is to protect against the pass. And as I said before, I think Moore is too short for cornerback. Besides, we have Tillman and Bowman at that position, and we are thin at safety.
by GouldisGold on Nov 23, 2009 4:51 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Can we move Tillman to safety?
He is our best CB but damn, with his ball punching skills I want him around as many ball carriers as possible.

Really?
OL-Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Chris williams, I’m lost on this one.
He’s playing out of position, and needs time to develop. Remember, this is basically his rookie campaign. I disagree with letting D. Manning go, because Lovie has stunted his growth by shuffling him around his entire career so far.

I just meant on the whole o line
on who to keep. I have no problem with keeping D Manning he has some untapped talent.

garza hasnt sucked too bad this year
comparatively speaking. i would keep beekman garza and williams

you may all get off the bandwagon now
I am really tired of hearing trade hester bullshit..yes i know it is profane but i am sick and tired of it. i am so glad none of you run the team…lets see trade away our only offensive weapons and expect to have a miracle season with no draft picks. and really fire hillenmeyer who has stepped in and not done terrible in the middle? so we keep 3 OLBs banking on Urlacher not needing any rotation or getting hurt. we will end up keeping most of our players on this year’s roster i am afraid..we may try to shore up the offensive line by moving kreutz to guard and beekman to center and swing williams to LT and Frank to RT..
WE HAVE NEXT TO 0 DRAFT PICKS NOR DO THE BEARS GO AFTER FAs…last year was a fluke in all reality. We will probably get a new D Coordinator and maybe a new O coordinator but look to have roughly the same coaching staff and about the same team next year.its just what is going to happen..we arent a bad team as it is..yeah we are 4-6 but this year is a year that the players will start working well together and next year will be a much better year with a year’s exp under the players belt with our new boy at QB.
Bring back our honey bears...sick and tired of hearing about the dallas cowboy cheerleaders and the bars they go work at when they quit. cold weather + cheerleaders in skimpy outfits = lots of fun

the biggest problem with them
trading Knox or Hester they would probably do it for a 6th round pick.
by Daseabeez on Nov 24, 2009 10:35 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I'm not necessarily for trading Hester either, but if you were able to get a decent couple of draft picks, I'd listen.
I always felt that the time to trade Hester was after his second year and was holding out for a new contract. We would have probably received a #1 for him and possibly more. That was also the time when the talk about turning him into a WR was beginning.
As far as trading him now, like I said, I’m not really for it but in reality, would it be that difficult to replace the productivity? I think he’s doing okay as a WR but I’m not convinced he’ll get much better, his return ability over the last 2 seasons has pretty much disappeared, you have Knox who is just as fast plus a more polished WR than Hester considering he’s only a rookie, and also has picked up some of the slack in the return game, Bennett has looked pretty good when he receives punts, and if you got a decent draft pick you can shore up other areas of your team.
I don’t think it’s as unreasonable as you’re stating for those people who want to make the trade, as long as the value we got in return was worth it.
by BearFan611 on Nov 24, 2009 11:36 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
yeah that would be the only way it would be worth trading him.
Not like getting a 5th round pick for Chris Harris.

People lay the Philly loss on Cutler ...
Hunter Hillenmeyer had probably the biggest saddest whiff to let McCoy in for the last TD. Try and get another look at it, he’s terrible in run support and not much better in coverage. He was actually in the gap and … it was embarassing.

Trade Hester ?
Probably the greatest kick returner of all time. Put the pills away. Hester should go back to special teams, he doesn’t get the offensive game and is lazy once he’s not primarily involved. Mark Anderson, Wale, Danieal Manning & AP will be free agents next year. I guess we keep AP for special teams. Other than AP and Hester I’d keep Cutler, Briggs, Gould, Urlacher, Shaw (ST), Bell/Forte, Knox, Tillmann and .. eh … that’s it.
Next year is uncapped and free agency certainly won’t be free. Will the tight-fisted McCaskeys see the light ? There are some mouthwatering prospects available, these guys are particularly interesting and mostly young …
Linebacker:
Demeco Ryans, Thomas Davis, D’Qwell Jackson (we need a player with an apostrophe), Kirk Morrison, Barrett Ruud. [Demeco Ryans please]
Receivers :
Vincent Jackson (yes), Brandon Marshall (yes), Miles Austin (yes), Steve Breaston, David Clowney (Jets fans love this guy). Malcom Floyd (tall), Davone Bess (money), Jason Avant.
Tight End :
So long and thanks for the fish Greg !
Tony Scheffler, Owen Daniels(yes), and by the looks of it 90% of the TEs in the NFL …
Corners :
Tramon Williams or Richard Marshall please. Usama Young (RFA)
Safety :
O.J. Atogwe, Atari Bigby, Nick Collins, Sharper at 33?
It would be nice to take somebody away from GB …
O line :
Jahri Evans (yes), Logan Mankins, Daryn Colledge.
D line :
Julius Peppers or Elvis Dumervil at DE please. Vince Wilfork, Casey Hampton, Richard Seymour, Ryan Pickett, Johnny Jolly.
Running back (deep!):
Ricky Williams on the cheap (32), Ronnie Brown (restricted FA),Pierre Thomas (RFA) Leon Washington (yes), Lendale White (yes), Mike Bell (yes), Jerious Norwood, Darren Sproles.
