Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

Lucky for you, Lovie Smith era ended today

The guy inherited a team and won with it, but face it, he is an amatuer.  Look at the bright side, Mike Shanahan, local boy, is coming to the rescue!   The Mastermind ® was burned out at the end of his stint here, but some time off will rejuvenate him like Phil Jackson.

You guys are in a world of hurt on the offensive line, and lack a serious secondary, but at least the coaching at the top will be vastly improved.   A change in defensive coordinators, a more consistent offense and running game, better injury luck, and, voila, the defense will be resurrected.

With the Mastermind® on the sideline ,look forward to moving the ball up and down the field like you would expect from Forte and Jay. By the way, I thought Cutler looked as sharp as he can be in limited opportunities. The fade in the endzone to Knox was picture perfect, and I can think of six or seven times where he delivered the ball in a flash under heavy pressure.  Faster than the human eye could see.... Freakish!

It's a drag that you have to play the Vikings again. They are a juggernaut.  Pray for frigid weather and a more respectable outcome.

Thanks for the Denver perspective.

Your thoughts on Lovie are echoed a lot on this blog. However, we don’t have the ownership you do, and they may not make the move to fire Lovie.

You're welcome.

Not familiar with your management, but it appears that they will make the aggressive moves, work with bold strokes. The only reason to keep Lovie as far as I can see is nostalgia, and I don’t see ownership going down that road. Your team has been on a visible slide, and I think Mr. Smith, patient and calm man that he is, has appeared way too passive about it. True or not, that’s horrible politics. Also, some of the personnel decisions, as always (Pace, some drafts picks) will look horrid in the rearview mirror.

Our management sucks and so does our coaching staff. Our team is a reflection of that.

If they dont make the necessary moves with our coaching staff, we will not be successful even with a pro-bowl team. I am praying to GOD changes are going to be made.

The reason to keep lovie

for our owners, is the $$$ owed to him still on his contract. The Cutler trade was an incredible and welcome departure from an atrocious track record for the past few years. I hope I am wrong, btw. Let’s cross our fingers…

P.S. I would love to get a rested and ready Shanny in here to coach up Cutler next season.

They make so much money off of us die hards and fans in general that

terminating Lovie’s position as head coach should be a drop in the bucket. I will cross my fingers and pray to GOD as well. This is giving me a bad case of depression. It is so obvious that our coaching staff is our main problem. Anyone who doesnt see that is as blind as Helen Keller. There are way too many great coaches out there rigth now not to make a move.

We are talking about the McCaskeys

Stop going to games, stop buying Bears merch, we had to pull the same stuff when Wanny was here

LostInChicago,

After watching these Bears week after week I feel like my brain is turned to mush. Is there a psychiatrist in the house. Let me just plead to the “Lady Upstairs” please please please, for the sake of Bears Nation past present and future, Virginia dump Lovie and the rest of his staff. Cutler is the real deal don’t let Lovie ruin the best thing to happen to the Bears since 1985.

Doesn’t Shanahan want to run the whole thing? GM/Coach. I don’t see Shanahan working for a GM that is why a place such as Buffalo makes sense they have no GM. Unless we fire Jerry Angelo which I would not have a problem with.

Draft guru in training.

Yep

He’s not going anywhere!! I’m watching the Bottom Line though hoping to see this:

“BREAKING NEWS: The Chicago Bears have fired GM Jerry Angelo, HC Lovie Smith, OC Ron Turner, DC Bob Babich, and all position coaches!!!”

Something like this:

“BREAKING NEWS: Virginia cleans house!”

The money works in Shanny's favor more than any other candidate

Bowlen is obligated to make up the difference between $7 million and Shanny’s new deal for the next couple of seasons.

Also, I think Kubiak gets canned by Houston. Mike’s kid, Kyle Shanahan, Houston’s offensive coordinator, will probably be on the street. You could do a lot worse than that. Most any team would love Houston’s offense.
