Can someone help me figure out what happened against Minnesota

Because I was driving home after the long weekend, I didn't get a chance to watch/listen to the game.   Was this another case of can't run the ball, so let's do dump passes passes to the flats.  This is what I see:

Star-divide

We were outgained 537 - 169.

We had 8 first downs, the had 33.

We had 38 total plays, they had 83 total plays =  WTF happened here.

We averaged 4.4 yards/play, they averaged 6.5.

Looking at the last two points, I just can't see how they had 45 more plays adn averaged 2.1 more yards per play.  That is just crazy.

Let's look at some things that could be good:

Forte and AP averaged the same yard/rush = 3.4

Cutler had a higher completion %.

The Bears has 2, yes 2, yards in the second half!

That’s my favorite stat. It sums up the Lovie/Turner “game plan”. Cutler has no protection and rolled out only once. I used to think we fans were too harsh on Turner, but now I am certain that he is fuc%ing clueless. Lovie is also clueless and it shows how, to a player, nobody is consistently in position. The level of talent on the lines is awful and there are no answers forthcoming. Lovie said, “…the sun will come out tomorrow…”, yes he did!

honestly man nothing worked other than the one td drive

knox took the opening kick off 77yrds to the FREAKING 8 yrd line the offense then went and lost 12 yards and kicked a field goal.
the defense could not get off the field on third down all game. offense could not do anything cutler was running for his life the line could handle minesotas d line.
hard to watch ANOTHER blowout

Simple...

3rd Down Conversations.

Vikings made them and we didn’t.

That’s not true!!! WHY THE F*CK WOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU AHOLE!! Ok maybe your right but you gotta give a little something here for it to work. I don’t know what I’m going to do this is the worst thing I’ve ever read, this day could not get any worse. Fine, F*ck it, you’re right.

even more simple than that..

the bears are a horrible organization and the vikings are a team with great foresight.

it's simple

The Vikings are very good, and the Bears aren’t. I’m sure 99% of us Bears fans saw this one coming.

How about this

I think what happened was the Vikings scored more points than we did. Last time I checked that is what happens when you lose, but I could be wrong.

Nice work, I didn't figure that one out.

I was more interested in the play calls and how the hell we managed to keep AP to 3.4 yards/rush and still get pounded.

It appears it is a minor win for the D-line, horrible loss to just about everything else.

He still ran for 85

And Favre threw for near 400 and 3 Tds.

Why run when coverage gets blown on every play?

You forgot ....

….. no rushing first downs ….

This wasn't even a game!!!

This was more like a practice game for the Vikings!! What we saw yesterday was a team that just doesn’t give a shit anymore!! They say winning is contagious, well obviously for the Bears, so is losing!!!

You asked what happened? Great team played terrible team and kicked the shit out of them!!! Simple as that!!

I Think I Can Help You

1. Matt Forte Sucks
2. The Offensive Line Sucks
3. The Defense Sucks
4. Jay Cutler is Lost out there
5. We have crappy Receivers
6. Our Coaches are idiots
7. The Vikings have better talent, better Coaches and better game plans.

Conclussion: Any questions?

When the Vikings hold the ball for 41 minutes

That’s a lot of time for this defense to be on the field so they start breaking down more than this team usually does.

by Arbusto on Nov 30, 2009 8:38 AM CST reply actions

well maybe it wouldn't be an issue

if the Vikings didn’t have such an easy time converting 3rd downs requiring double digit yardage.
