Key Player to keep an eye on: Dominique Rodgers-Comartie
Dominique Rodgers-Comartie is the Cardinals best and worst player corner. He's athletically gifted but at the same time gives up some big plays from time to time as he is still developing. The match up between him and Hester will be a very interesting one. Both are very good players that are still learning their positions at the pro level. You can bet there will be times in the game where they get the best of each other. This is really going to be a tough game for the Bears to move the ball through with playmakers in secondary like Rodgers-Comartie, Antrell Rolle and Adrian Wilson. Then you have Karlos Dansby lurking in the middle of the field that is capable of making a big impact on a game. This is gone to be one of those games where the Bears are going to have to get their points from other phases too.

Luckily,
he is a terrible tackler.

That has never been an issue with DRC
He gives up size and that could be a problem, but Hester isn’t the biggest guy in the world either. I’d be more worried about DRC biting on a fake if anyting.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

It was an issue in 2 games I've seen him in this year.

DRC is one of the best Corners in the league
with his skill set anyways, and he’s only in his second year i think?

The way he plays has the same Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde style that the rest of the team has.
Sometimes he will get interceptions like the ones he got against the Texans and the Giants [with a cast on his hand], or he will get burned like he did against the Colts and the Panthers.
I would be more worried about Antrel Rolle, that guy is a threat to take it back for a touchdown any time he has the ball.

his weakness
is how aggressive he is. he is a ball hawk and often will go for the pick rather than solid coverage. if the receivers do some hiccup routes, it’ll throw him way off.

True
Jake Delhomme made him bite with a pump fake last week, which ended up being a 50 yard touchdown.

I was watching that game last sunday, and that was a pretty good play on smith part too, to sell that screen.
With Comartie at this point in his career, you have to take the good with the bad, but he has all the skills to be the best CB in this league someday.

Yes, but Hester =/= Smith.

pump fake
Does Jay even use a pump fake? I’ve watched every game this year and don’t recall him using the pump fake. I’ll bet if he would add it to his repertoire he would be even better. Roethlisberger and Peyton Manning use it constantly.

No misdirection
He stares down his receiver a lot (yeah, like no one is going to pick up on that…).

With our OL
He doesn’t have time to pump fake!

Hester may not have the skills set either
DRC will fall for the fakes and double moves but does Hester (who is transitioning well) have the skills to pull these off? My guess would be DRC is falling for it on the upper level receivers who can sell these moves with precision. And while Hester is running routes well, I am not sure if he has the little moves to really pull them off.
More importantly, will Cutler have time for double moves and will Ron Turner ever figure out what one is?

He's said to be a good route-runner
but regardless, anyone with Hester’s speed can beat DRC deep cause he has a penchant of getting burned.

just when will JC have the time to throw deep?
by TrialsBass on Nov 6, 2009 8:52 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
If Turner
would call a damn rollout and pull a guard or tackle, then, just maybe.
