Be Careful What You Wish For
As a lifetime Bronco fan and Shanahan supporter, I am following your interest in Shanahan moving to the Bears. Mike is an OFFENSIVE genius. Give him a week to prepare an game plan and look out! He might be the world's greatest offensive coordinator and work wonders with Jay Cutler (4,000 yds) but.... Mike is a control freak and wants and demands to run the whole show. He is a terrible judge of talent when it comes to drafting, free agency and defense. McDaniel had to come in and by my count CUT 33 players from last years team, including 8 defensive STARTERS! Only about 6 of the 33 have been able to catch on as backups in the NFL, 2-3 played in the UFL and the other 25 are OUT of football. That speaks volumes about his ability to judge talent. He also mismanaged the salary cap and Denver leads the league this year in "dead" money (29.6 million). Awesome COACH -terrible GM.

There is another interesting perspective. . .
No Super Bowl-winning coach has EVER won a Super Bowl with another team.

That's exactly what we need.
Not Shanahan. Cutting 33 players ….

Angelo's not going anywhere for 4 years.
Whatever about Lovie/Turner, that tools is staying put. If Mike Shanahan is out for control then he won’t be entertained in Chicago. Cowher just wants the job, no trimmings, he’s the guy IF they get rid of Smith. Hunch ? Turner goes, everyone else above him stays.

He's going to probably do that without Shanny this year
work wonders with Jay Cutler (4,000 yds)

Hey Broncos fan...
I mean this in all good humor, but keep your fan posts on your site. If you want to comment on any of these threads, feel free. However, it is simply bad etiquette to post here.

At least
he had some new, fairly useful information this time around.

I have absolutely nothing against the info in post itself...
just its posting. I am happy to get the info, but it’s kind of arrogant and condescending when it’s not from a Bears fan. I see it like “nice” trolling, for lack of a better term. Again, I’m happy for the cross-talk and sharing of the information across the sites. I genuinely appreciate it.

Who says being a fan is a prerequisite?
This is a place to talk about the Bears, and is not fan-exclusive IMO. I appreciate the efforts of the Broncos fans who have come here to post (and not troll) relevant information. In fact, if Steelers or Texans fans or anyone else wanted to come here and offer information about a potential coaching candidate (esp. one that has already been discussed on WCG) so be it.

In this instance, I do...
and who am I, just another fan. I am just saying that I think it’s arrogant and condescending for other (non-Bears) fans to post here. They are welcome to add comments and participate and say whatever they want on any thread. I don’t care about trolling or name calling either. IMO, it is simply crossing an unwritten line by making it a fan post that “tells” us something. I am fine if it is a question asking Bears fans about a former player or coach, but we didn’t ask for this. Just like you see my criticism as exclusionary and call me out on it.

Funny
I didn’t see you bashing the “Ask the Falcoholic” post.

That's because I ignored it...
because I don’t care for it. Actually it’s kinda fun trading shots with another team’s fans during the week before a game, but I still don’t encourage it. The reason I said something in this case is that it seems really out of place. There have been no credible news stories about Shanny going to the Bears that I have seen. The Chicago-Denver connection will be close for the next few years, but at least when it come to Cutler, there is a real event to discuss. I guess I’m getting sick of the Bears losing and I have developed a short fuse. Either way, I am not “bashing” anyone, just stating my general frustration.

People are still sore about Bronco fans coming here
with the “just so you are warned” nonsense. Like they have a stake in our success or failure… it gets tiresome

A couple of questions BroncBo...
Wasn’t Shanahan the guy who after going 13-3 in 2005, didn’t settle for Jake Plummer but instead moved up in the draft to take Jay Cutler in the ’06 draft? Then drafted Tony Shchefler in the 2nd, then took BMarsh and Dumerville in the 4th?
Wasn’t Shanahan the guy who then in the ’07 draft went and took Ryan Harris in the 3rd?
Wasn’t Shanahan the guy who then in the ‘08 draft who unlike the Bears, didn’t settle for an injury prone OT, moved up to take possibly the best OT in Ryan Clady then turned around and took Eddie Royal in the 2nd round?
Was Shanahan that guy? Because if he was then that means that the team you’re enjoying today was built by Mike Shanahan. In 3 years he rebuilt your offense and made it the 2nd best offense in football last year. The Bears have been trying to do that for 50years.
By the way, I wouldn’t around touting the personnel decisions of McDaniels too soon or too loudly. This is the same guy that cut Matt Berger, the better punter right? This is also the same guy who wasted a first rounder for next year to take Alphonso Smith. A guy that can barely get on the field this year. And I won’t even get into the whole Cutler for Cassel thing. I’ll would take my chances with Shanahan over what The Bears or Broncos have right now.

As a GM
he did an excellent job on the offensive side of the ball. His downfall was the defensive, but at least he traded for Champ, and drafted Doom/DJ Williams.

Sounds to me
that all that was needed was a change in defensive philosophy not the roster or coach so much. So in other words, if Shanahan stayed and the new DC was brought in, Denver would have a better defense, still have Jay Cutler, and probably a better record.

I've watched the games
and i couldnt help but think that as well, that with Cutler, the Broncs would be near undefeated.

Bronco Bo
I should have mentioned that da Bears have been my favorite NFC team going back to the days of my first Pro heroes (Sayers/Butkas then Payton/Fridge) so I have always followed the team with interest. I was a huge fan of Cutler and upset about the trade but I won’t touch the Orton/Cutler discussion. As to Shanahan, again I just feel he is a top offensive mind in the league but I really question his GM skill. From the Denver 2003 draft class – not one player left. 2004 Class – only DJ Williams left 2005 – not one player remains 2006 – Best draft class Cutler Sheffler and hit it big in the 4th round with Marshall and Doom. 2007 – only Harris (jury out on Jarvis Moss and Marcus Thomas). Who can forget passing on Marion Barber and Darren Sproles to take Maurice Clarett. I’m not bashing the Bears just throwing out some facts.
by BroncoBo on Dec 3, 2009 6:52 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
that clarett signing was a complete waste of a pick
3rd round pick right? last one of draft day 1 i think. that being said, that same year the bears had 2 first day picks go right into the crapper – their 2nd and 3rd round picks never even came close to suiting up for a game much less staying in the nfl. i bet most gm’s have some crap draft years but few do it as consistently as the bears gm seems to.
someone here pointed out bears could have had sidney rice instead of dan bazuin. oy.

BroncoBo. Why is it that the first place you ever posted anything was here?
Is MHR not good enough for you? Sure, the Shanny speculation is fine and dandy, but there is still a month of regular season football to play. Plus, the Bills look like they are gonna take Shanny, anyways, so this isn’t a very pertinent argument at this point.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Not an exception but the norm
McDaniel had to come in and by my count CUT 33 players from last years team, including 8 defensive STARTERS!
This happens every time there’s a regime change on any football team. Maybe not that many cut, but certainly there’s a ton of turnover.

oh no
I wouldn’t want some two time superbowl winning coach/gm control freak to come to Chicago, usurp the position from the current geniuses and possibly change things around. Nope, wouldn’t want that at all cause I like things the way they are.
Go praise neckbeard or something. Go talk about how he’s a “winner”.

I still want Shanahan.
Because, as the first poster said, he is an offensive genius, and also because he may be able to fix Sir Jay.
