Re-post: Please read- Use of pejoratives
We've seen a huge surge in membership in the last few days, so I wanted to re-post this just as a reminder of the Community Guidelines and expectations we have here at WCG. Please read.
---------------------------------------
Hello folks! I know that emotions are running really high right now, but I have to ask that the comments typed on this website stay civil and respectful.
Specifically, please dont use gay, retarded, p*ssy, etc. to express your frustrations... be bigger than that.
We've had to go in and clean out a lot of mess from the comments sections this morning, and the one thing we don't want is for the threads to turn into a resemblance of a yahoo or youtube comments section.
WCG has always been known as a place for mature, intelligent football conversation, and we intend to keep it that way.
Please do your part to keep it classy WCG!
Oh, and please remember, no f-bombs outside of Game Threads.
Thanks,
Dane

It shouldn't be hard.
Flag the comment as trolling. Move on.

i think its harder when we have the team that we have.....once the bears clean up their act
im sure the WCG is sure to follow….but i will do my best to curb my flagrant use of the so called “seven dirty words”. So in describing lovie, for example, instead of saying the forbidden word, i will just say he’s mentally challenged…that should work right Mr. Noble?

You don't need profanities
Try responding with a good argument instead of lashing out.

Chillax.
I’m sure there are plenty of Bears trolls out there too. Every team’s fan base always has a few bad apples.
I better just stay off of this site.
Our coaches and GM are making it impossible for me to keep it clean. Take care.

that ship has sailed
want is for the threads to turn into a resemblance of a yahoo or youtube comments section.
LOL
It hasn’t sailed yet… you gotta keep fighting the good fight baby!

It’s getting there, though. I’ve largely given up eagerly reading every new comment that’s posted on the front page threads because the general level of intelligence seems to have dropped off a cliff in recent weeks.

"F*** everybody outside of Halas Hall. BEARDOWN" - WavyGravy
Still
Reading some of the tribune and sun times comments on most articles is 10 times worse than us. And don’t even get me started on the chicagobears.com message boards.

or, heaven forbid
the nfl.com comments, which is a constant parade of bandwagoners, ad hominem attacks and generall stupidity.
Never die easy. Why run out of bounds and die easy? Make that Linebacker pay. It carries into all facets of your life. It's okay to lose, to die, but don't die without trying, without giving it your best.- Walter Payton
true that,
considering how image conscious the NFL is, you think they would do something to clean that up a bit. It terrible there, worse than the Tribune or Suntimes web-sites.
Just head on over to Second City Hockey
And f-bomb away. There’s no appreciable concern for PC over there and it works in its own way.
Is Jerry Angelo fired yet?
I guess that depends on your purpose...
If your purpose is to talk Bears football, why would you go to a hockey site? But, I guess if your purpose is just to have the ability to drop f-bombs on the internet, yes, there are plenty of places to go for that.
You are all gentlemen (and ladies) and good judges of cheap whiskey.
Yes,
pejorative and pierogi are absolutely interchangeable.
You are all gentlemen (and ladies) and good judges of cheap whiskey.
Well then,
Pejorative’s are quite delicious!

Ummm Smudgers, are we on the right site?
WCG has always been known as a place for mature, intelligent football conversation, and we intend to keep it that way.
Intelligent maybe, but mature? You’re taking all the fun out of it….
If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.
Awesome.
…and Dane keeps deleting my other very classy, very mature reply back to you! So you’re stuck with just an awesome. ;)

youve been working with me too long
that you can understand what I was going for, with little work.

I always thought
those were stuffed cabbages. But I’m Irish/Scottish and it has been a while since I’ve gotten to enjoy good Polish cuisine.
No, Mr. Wolfe, I do not.
Btw, how’s rehab going?

+1...
Dane, you and I disagree on enough things in these posts, but I do agree that it’s necessary to keep it civil; no matter how much I wish to reach through the internet and choke people sometimes! Keep up the good work…or I’ll have to kick your pejorative a$$!
When you find yourself in a hole, STOP DIGGING!!!
Love the big word usage
You don’t hear or see it often. Top-notch Dane!

Great Post!!!
I agree,
reminds me of why I spend time at WCG and not other sites. The level of fan discussion here at WCG is, by far the most intelligent on the internet. I love it that the majority of the discussions here include punctuation and keep the aol speak to the barest minimum.
With that in mind I’ll apologize for my usage of one of the derogatory terms that you listed, and will refrain from using any of the other aforementioned words too.
And, while I will refrain from using all the listed words on this site. I do think the one that Urlacher is suspected of using, while usually derogatory, isn’t always pejorative. And, it is a little ironic that the other word, the one sometimes used to describe Peyton Manning, especially directly after the 2006 Superbowl, originally started out almost as an antonym for pejorative.
big words are fun

2 of the top 5
diaries are “be nice” diaries. awesome.
There is a difference in
“being nice” versus “not being offensive.”
