Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Key Player to keep an eye on: Zackary Bowman

Star-divide

One of the few bright spots in the secondary Zackary Bowman is a player to keep an eye on going forward. Zackary Bowman has had his good moments and bad moments this season. His good moments is when he shows he can make plays on the ball, the bad moments is when the play is there to be made his back is turned to the ball. Cornerback is a very hard position to transition to from college to the pros, so I'm not going to get down on Bowman. I rather focus more on the positives than the negatives, He needs to learn how to press his man at the line of scrimmage. When he is asked to press that's when he gets in trouble because of his poor techniques at the line of scrimmage. Zach needs a good showing this last two games to show coaches or a new coaching staff that he can man that other starting Cornerback position.

Bowman is a personal favorite of mine

I want the starting CB’s for next year to be him and Tillman, and Moore as the FS. I don’t like the idea of a 5’9" CB like Moore going up against a 6’5" reciever like Calvin Johnson.

Bowman has stayed healthy...

this season and that is a good start. Hoake(sp.) is a HORRIBLE DBs coach. Bowman needs to learn how to play man coverage and use his athletic abilities and speed to stay close to the receivers. The problem is the MORONIC defensive scheme which plays 10 yards off any WR and then breaks on the WR after he has caught the 15-20 yard pass downfield. Yes, the Lovie version of the cover-2 again has taken the talent Bowman has and thrown it out the window. Again, there is too much actual talent on this team to waste another year with Lovie. If Lovie is not fired, look at the FAs that leave the Bears, they will have success in ANY other defense. LOVIE IS A JOKE AND NEEDS TO GO NOW!

When you find yourself in a hole, STOP DIGGING!!!

What?

He’s barely competent.

slow so he has to stay back and gets beat consistently on slants and curls

And ZERO run support
