Bears Updates from 'Round the Web
As we all bask in the glow of the big win in the final 2009 game at Soldier Field, let's take a look at some updates this afternoon.
J. Knox doesn't appear to have a broken ankle, but is still unlikely to play next week. J. Iglesias could be activated.
C. Tillman likely out as well (w/ scary pic).
Cutler nominated for award. Odd typing that sentence.
Governor Pat Quinn talks about Chicago sports.
Parting note: Is the Tampa-2 really "played out" as many are saying, or is it the fact that we don't have the right personnel to make it work? Regardless, injuries really hurt us this year on defense.

I was half expecting to read
“If we activate Iglesias, he will lose a year of eligibility… if we don’t, he can stay a red-shirt freshman for the year”.
If Iglesias is activated...
I hope he doesn’t try to make a one handed catch or Jay’s head will explode during the game.

Chili was whining in his press conference
that AP’s facemask was pulled before Hillenmeyer knocked the ball out. Tough, you lost, suck it up.
There were a number of calls that we should have had but the ref’s weren’t exactly in our corner either. Some stuff gets missed. Sucks when it costs the game.
Except when it’s the Vikings. :) Then it’s AWESOME when it costs the game.

I didn't see the bears whinning about the refs watching farve spike the ball
and not getting a delay of game penalty.
Check out...
the article on this fanpost. Great read. Wants to make you shoot Ted Phillips!
When you find yourself in a hole, STOP DIGGING!!!
That is a good read
It basically just reinforced what all of us already knew. Lovie let go good commodities on our coaching staff to put in his homeyboys that have little to no coaching experience. There is no way Babich should of been promoted to Defensive Coordinator over Ron Rivera…no way.

tampa 2 played out?
for this group, yes. in general, no. you need a good pass rush and linebackers who can cover the middle. urlacher used to be that guy.
All I have heard is "if" personel. . .
We would be better “if” we had no injuries, if Urlacher was here, if we could get a pass rush, if if if.
Well “if” they can’t run it with the second team players, then yes it is played out.
I still say the OC’s from around the league know how to exploit the coverage all together and the whole scheme is tired. Even in the beginning of the year when we lost Urlacher and the rest of the team was fairly healthy, the system was being exploited. It seems the Bears play constant prevent defense when we run it.
Cover 2 Defence ???
If you look at “every” teams defence schemes you will see that they use an adaptation to certain degrees, some more than others, of the cover 2. There aren’t enough players coming from the college ranks that can play the true cover 2 so the teams adapt certain venues of it to suit the abilities of the majority of their own particular defencive backs. Because of those teams reliance on the cover 2 I think that it will be around for some time yet.
