The real deal concerning Urlacher

First of all......Brian Urlacher has never been and could never be a "Dick Butkus" or a "Mike Singletary" .  The premier linebacker on the Bears has always been Lance Briggs.  Urlacher can not shed a block to save his life and the only place he shows attitude is OFF the field.   He was exposed and blownup by Brandon Jacobs earlier this season and by this time, he is where he usually is at this time of the season.  Injured and watching from the sidelines.

Be in the game before you take a shot at your quarterback.  Jay Cutler has no offensive line.  Matt Forte has no offensive line and the whole team has no defense.  HH (backup at middle linebacker) is pathetic at best.  Please...Please...when Urlachers contract is up, trade his oft injured non achieving self to another team.......

“Brian Kieth Urlacher (pronounced /ˈɜrlækər/; born May 25, 1978) is an American football player for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League. Urlacher, an alumnus of the University of New Mexico, is a six-time1 Pro Bowl player and has established himself as one of the NFL’s most productive linebackers. He is regarded as one of the best defensive players in the NFL, winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2000 and the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2005, becoming only the fifth player in NFL history to win both awards.2”-From wikipedia

You mean me?

I’m not an actual Honey Bear, just a fan who cheers from the couch! Lol. I actually am glad we don’t have them anymore… :P

Ok you need to turn in your "Ditka" Card

You don’t like Urlacher or the Honey Bears?

That’s not true!!! WHY THE F*CK WOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU AHOLE!! Ok maybe your right but you gotta give a little something here for it to work. I don’t know what I’m going to do this is the worst thing I’ve ever read, this day could not get any worse. Fine, F*ck it, you’re right.

I love Urlacher!

I don’t know where you got that idea? I’m one who wants him to stay and retire a Bear! :]

I just think we’re more classy without them. I want to watch football, not girls in short skirts. But again, like I’ve said before, I’m not the target audience…

Not to mention you are a woman.

Why would you want to watch girls dance around on game day? I’m not against having the honey bears but I’d rather we used the money it would take to pay for cheerleaders and their coaches and put it towards improving the team. I also don’t want Urlacher going anywhere.

by PolishSausage.Ditka.Bears. on Dec 7, 2009 9:22 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly.

Hence the “target audience” line. Lol. But yes, there are much better things we could do with the money that will actually benefit the team and fans, in more important and necessary ways.

I am neutral on the actual Honey Bear issue, but wanted to give you props.

I would tell Urlacher that in a minute.........

Why wouldn’t I tell Urlacher he is a bum…..He has no attitude…..only attitude he has is against his own teamates…….He hits like a sissy and his pass rushing skills?………….please…..number one……start watching the games…….they drop him into coverage all the time because he CAN NOT shed a block……..I don’t care if You’re fellow Bears fans or not……start watching the actual games when Urlacher plays. Oh wait……his delicate self is usually on the sidelines…….sorry, I forgot. Two; Tell it like it is, not out of sentiment…….you’re probably still aching over Grossman and less than twenty yards passing Orton…………shaddit

by AnthonyC on Dec 13, 2009 7:27 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

This must be some sort of joke.

Urlacher might not be worth his huge salary (like many other Bears) but he’s a damn good MLB playing very well in a system that does not play to his strong points. Unless Singletary wants to send us Patrick Willis, there’s no one else I want playing MLB for the Bears next season.

by Hawkeyes on Dec 6, 2009 10:50 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, nonsense.

I knew this would happen when urlacher started talking. People always mix up a player’s on-field performance with off-field issues.

by ChiLobo#23 on Dec 6, 2009 4:27 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Anthony C

shut the hell up you dont know a damn thing. nothing against briggs at all i love him but urlacher is this teams BEST PLAYER period.
this is the bears record without him 5-13( briggs has been in mostly all those games)

by Bear Lovin 21 on Dec 6, 2009 5:25 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

agreed

anyone who has seen him play knows Urlacher’s numbers don’t even do him justice. He’s on every play coming his way seemingly tackling or assisting in tackling on nearly every down. He can drop to coverage (from his days as saftey) and we all know his pass rushing skill. This combined with his leadership and his understanding about his role in the tradition of the Bears makes him indespensible to this team and a player I’d gladly “waste” money on.

by BBANGUS on Dec 6, 2009 6:37 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Gee..... shows your wisdom......

Because…..as in your opinion, Urlacher is our “best” player period, that is why we are without him this season, he failed to deliver in the Super Bowl and this mentality is why we are 5-7 this season. Everything is sentimentality with you Bears fans…….If you own a #54 jersey and feel obligated to support this oft-injured, overrated guy, buy another jersey and move on….LOL

by AnthonyC on Dec 13, 2009 7:37 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

when Urlachers contract is up, trade his oft injured non achieving self to another team

When his contract is up he becomes a free agent, you can’t trade free agents because they are free. You would have to trade him while he was under contract.

Nothing important

OMG........if that is your pic......you have more issues than Urlacher

True to form…………many of you Bears fans, run on sentiment and not what is real. Urlacher is constantly injured, had one or two very productive years and made Pro Bowls due to the NFC really not having any inside linebackers that were grabbing headlines those years…….Ya think he would make the Pro Bowl over Patrick Willis?……….If he were in the AFC, would he make it over Ray Lewis?…As far as him being a more “athletic” MLB…..Good, let him go do gymnastics and free up that spot for a legitimate MLB………I want a MLB that can come off a block………

by AnthonyC on Dec 13, 2009 7:09 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Urlacher is a team captain ...

You cannot call out your coaches/management, QB & RB like thta. You just can’t, not if you’re a core player. If they can get something worthwhile for him I heard Jamar Williams had 18 tackles and two passes defended yesterday. Draft Sean Weatherspoon. Urlacher needs to be cashed in.

Agreed to an extent. Urlacher shouldn’t be talking smack considering he played 10 minutes this year until he got injured…again. Making sideline comments is helping no one it is only hurting the team chemistry even more. I thought he was smarter and more mature than that. Why doesn’t he concentrate on fixing his durability issues in recent years

by brands735 on Dec 7, 2009 8:31 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

what issues?

yea hes been hurt? but prior to this year 2004 was the time he missed time. so that missing games for the first time in 5 years counts as a durability issue? williams played a great game….but it was the rams if he pulls that off on any of the next three opponents then well talk

Well

Urlacher is an underrated player in my book just because so many people hate on him for reasons I don’t know. I think it’s just because he doesn’t play with the mean streak that legendary linebackers are known for. Ray Lewis is a great LB, who plays with heart and soul and can crush anything that gets in his way but Urlacher is the better athlete of the two. Having said that though I think Urlacher should’ve kept what he said to himself or at least in house as opposed to yahoo. In my own opinion, I think Brian Urlacher is jealous that he no longer is considered the face of the franchise. The Bears brought in Jay Cutler and with him came a new identity. I honestly believe that the Bears can have both a great passing game AND a great running game. But Brian Urlacher is on the downside of his career, even though he can still play at a high level. And for him to say that the defense should win games is a bit much. I don’t think he’s been watching any games this year for him to have said that. They can’t stop anyone. And him supporting Orton is great but he should’ve worded it differently. And people need to remember that Kyle Orton is an average QB with a lot of help. He looked horrible during the Bronco’s losing streak so imagine him playing with our team this year. For as much as Urlacher has done for the organization, he needs to learn humility and realize that as a captain he should pick his spots when it comes to criticizing his team mates.

I wouldnt say hes not

Butkus or Singletary… Urlacher has proved he is in the class of Butkus and Singletary. He’s one of our best LB’s ever.

by zack54attack on Dec 13, 2009 8:38 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Urlacher in the class of Butkus or Singletary...?

Yes…..I am the one that started the controversy about Urlacher……..Now we are getting WAY out of hand……Urlacher is NOT, could NEVER and will NEVER be a Butkus, Singletary or Bill George……….Singletary was a main contributor to a Super Bowl, Butkus instilled fear and has an award named after him…..Someone brought up the point that he was 2005 Defensive Player of the year. Good for him…..It’s now 2009 and he has not produced since 05. Stop your crying cuz you all own #54 jerseys. He’s overpaid, has the attitude of a kicker and he is always injured…….Do not blame Jay Cutler for the lack of an O-Line……..I wish my fellow Bears fans were more realists than sentimentalists……….
