Trio of Wide Receivers Could Be Had For the Right Price

I haven't found a link yet, but across the scroller this morning on ESPN, they had a bit about agent Drew Rosenhaus saying that Anquan Boldin, Plaxico Burress and Chad Johnson are available through trade.

Plaxico is off limits as far as I'm concerned.  He has too many legal and personal issues to bring in.  Johnson available through trade may mean the  Bengals are planning making a big run at TJ Houshmandzadeh.

We've talked a lot about TJ and Boldin, but only partially talked about Burress and I don' t believe we broached the Chad Johnson subject at all.

Head Cases

All of them are head cases except Boldin. Can you imagine what they would be like with Orton throwing to them.

Absolutely no Plaxico

That guy is poison and not worth the money or trouble.

All WRs are divas in some way. Some are a lot more vocal than others. I would want my #1 WR to want the ball all the time, to think he can catch everything, to believe he can beat anyone. especially if they have the talent to back that up.

I think Boldin is that guy, I even think Johnson is that guy when he wants to be and is healthy. I think Housh is one of the best possession receivers in the game, but he won’t beat you deep normally.

Personally I would love to buy a Boldin Bears jersey. I just think the price for him will be too steep. they’re going to want something astronomical for him, and unfortunately we have too many holes to fill to drop everything to get him. If we only needed a WR I would say give them two 1st round picks and something else.

But as WCG says, the organization doesn’t have the sugar lumps to pull the trigger on something like that even if we only needed a WR.

I went to the NFL shop site

to the custom jersey section. I was going to create a Boldin Bears jersey to post, but they wouldn’t let me create it. It was against the NFLPA agreement or something. I guess it sucks if some guys last name is actually Boldin.

What?

The one thing that was good about Plaxico was that he was supposedly a good teammate. You never heard him complain about Eli throwing him bad passes, like a lot of #1 WRs would. Also, at the end of the season Brandon Jacobs, Justin Tuck, and Eli Manning all said they wanted him back on the Giants. Brandon Jacobs even said that they would have one the Super Bowl if Burress was playing.

And to luckie815, can you imagine Orton throwing to them, that would probably be the same as or better than having pre-Super Bowl run Eli, and as I said before he did not complain.

Rosenhaus has rescinded this statement to all 32 Teams

According to PFT, Rosenhaus sent a 2nd E-mail to all 32 Teams stating that he does not have permission to seek a trade for any of these receivers.

I'm not sure how anyone could criticize TO

And then vote for Chad Johnson, who is equally egotistical yet has 0 playoff victories – Rex Grossman has more, and we know how much everyone hates that guy. Really though, there is absolutely no reason this team should not be trying to make a move for Anquan Boldin. Trade a 1st rounder for him, considering the Bears tend to screw those picks up anyway.

Plus it would assure that we wouldn’t be trading the 1st rounder for Matt Cassel, which is always good.

Boldin is perfect for Orton

Orton throws a really accurate pass at 10-15 yards. Boldin is really good at turning short passes into big gains.

I'll take all 4

This would be the order for me:
Boldin
Burress
Housh
Johnson

Johnson is a fun player and does want the ball, but isn’t going tear your team a part. He is just highly emotional. Yell at a coach yeah, yell at the QB yeah, but turn the team in chaos, that is a TO special talent. Burress doesn’t have problems with any teammates that I know of, just coaches and police.

Chicago has such good character, having one guy like this isn’t going to tear the whole thing down.

No TO, He is the only guy that could hurt our chemistry.

The problem is

most of our well respected or high character guys are on defense. The only guy on offense I can thing that might run the locker room is Kruetz. Clark is a good vet, maybe he some say.

Yeah, Kruetz is definitely the loudest guy on offense.

I just think guys like Urlacher and Briggs would put these guys in their place. They seem to be the two that run the team. Brown is in that mix, but it looks like he may be gone and half the time wasn’t even in the locker room the past few years.

I don’t know what locker rooms are like, so maybe the defensive guys just completely ignore the offensive guys, but only Johnson on my list has potential and I think it is more with coaches and QB’s. I think Kruetz, Urlacher, and Briggs would watch out for our QB.

Every team he has been on has had some decent/strong leaders, and they have not been able to “control” TO.

TO doesn’t LET himself be controlled.

He is controlled (maybe contained)

locker room cancers?

bears fans have gone so long without a playmaker at WR (or qb) that they hate on playmakers. To the extent that Plax or ochocinco are talented offensive playmakers they would be unique/abnormal on the bears, but cancers no.

Rather sooner than later in Chicago. It has been the same thing every where he goes. It seems Chad has gotten better the last year or so. I imagine he has seen on ESPN and the NFL Network what an idiot he can sometimes be, and maybe has decided to not stay that way. But TO, he’s to far gone. Like me.

No on Johnson, Yes on Boldin or Burress

Johnson is too much of a disruption at his point, and he hasn’t been part of a winning team—the one time Cincy made the playoffs, they didn’t go anywhere.

Burress may be a nutcase but he’s shown he can be a productive part of a winning team.

I’d rather have Boldin, though. He doesn’t seem to have major character problems, and he’s younger than the other two and just as talented.
