Bears QB of the Future?

The Falcons are looking to trade Michael Vick's rights.

As for the title of this post? I am totally kidding. Vick blows. Let the Vikings or San Francisco or Miami and their wildcat take him. The Bears always have had Vick's number over the years so I don't mind seeing him go to a division opponent. Besides I doubt anyone will be very eager to take a flier on him just yet...

I thought this was going to be about Chase Holbrook! LOL.

I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

I disagree.

As long as Vick can show that he is in shape there will be more than a few teams interested in him. Someone on ESPN made a good point about how 2 years in prison could have preserved Vicks knees for perhaps a great comeback and prolonged career. Vick should be given the opportunity to redeem himself and I’m sure he will get the chance. I always thought that his sentence was way to harsh. 90 days in jail 5 years probation and extensive community service along with a huge fine would have been appropriate. I’m sure the NFL has not seen the best of Vick yet.

I think Vick would have a better chance

if he’d suck it up and switch to a receiver. There is no doubt his skills. A team would be more likely to take a shot on a player when it isn’t their QB.

hmm...

Vick – career QB rating: 75.7
Orton – career QB rating: 71.1

But sure … Vick blows, and should change positions, and the Bears are set at QB.

I didnt' say he sucked

I just said I think he’d get more looks from the league if he’d switch positions.

Yeah, you're right big

Way to take that out of context. Especially since Vick a) has a lot of off-the-field issues and b) he hasn’t played in two years.

But sure… Vick is still good.

what...

… did I take out of context?

FWIW, I don’t recall Vick having many off-the-field issues that impacted his play. The dog-fighting is really bad, and one that I find abhorrent. But no one has a problem with Ray Lewis playing…

And yea… Vick hasn’t played in two years. I agree that is an issue.

But for people to say that Vick is awful, while also being perfectly content with the current Bears’ QB situation, is pretty laughable.

In all honesty...

…Vick could probably contend at both QB & WR next year, regardless of how long it’s been since he has last played. I could care less about off the field issues…

by thebutlerway on Feb 13, 2009 6:57 PM CST up reply actions

He could possibly be good...

What else do people do inside jail except workout constantly? So he is definitely going to be in shape.

Plus he has played in the last two years, I remember reading somewhere that Vick was playing football with his cellmates. Plus have we not learned that QBs who go to jail and play football inside, come out better men, see The Longest Yard. LOL!!!

One of the things I love about the BEARS that other teams do...

2 suggestions:

1- Make your sig “Bears Down!”… that way you don’t have to type it over and over…

2- Chill on the strong language… even though i completely agree with you, and am a grossman fan as well! But yes, you are totally right… we tend to cut the wayward players… character might be the only thing that lovie has going right now…
