Saints Cut Deuce

So now with two new vets on the street and some saying you didn't want Taylor how about Deuce? He is a bit younger than Taylor but has had injuries the last couple of years. So what'dya think?

In eight seasons in New Orleans, McAllister rushed for 6,096 yards on 1,429 carries.

Knee injuries have slowed him down the past couple of seasons. In his past two years, McAllister had only 131 carries and 510 yards.

I think both guys will get more money than the Bears want to spend on a #2

I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

I am a huge fan of Deuce...

But I don’ think he’d fit in Chicago. He’ll be trying to revive his career if he doesn’t retire, so I don’t think he’ll go somewhere he can’t compete for the #1 spot.

Things will get better as they improve...

He's on his last legs

I would not want Deuce anywhere close to our team. We could get the same production for a much cheaper price.

I am like your Dan Aykroyd and biglow would be Jane, the ignorant slut. -Chad

Perfect Mentor for Forte

Deuce still has something in the tank when he’s healthy, but the more important reason to sign him — if he’s cheap — is to mentor Matt Forte. I remember reading something last year about how Deuce and Forte met when both were in New Orleans (Deuce with the Saints, Forte at Tulane), and had gotten along great. If Deuce is going to be happy sitting behind anyone, it’d be a guy like Forte. And he doesnt need to carry the load like he used to with the Saints, just enough series per game to give Matt and his legs a rest. If they can get him for $1-2 mm/year, I’d say do it.

From a Fantasy Perspective

… should the Bears land McAlister, that likely takes a few short-yardage TDs away from Forte. With absolutely no one backing up the rookie RB last season, he was really the only option they had in the red zone. In dynasty leagues, owners of Forte are hoping the Bears go after Taylor instead of Deuce. Taylor is more of a first down or change of pace back on the wrong side of 30 years of age. Taylor wasn’t much of a factor in Jacksonville in the red zone and wouldn’t offer much of a threat in the red zone to Forte’s touches. Please Bears, I’m begging you… if you go after a free agent RB, please get Taylor and not Deuce.
