Simms interested in Chicago
I know, I know. The last thing most of you want is another Simms post. But, for you Simms fans out there, there may be a glimmer of hope:
Signs pointed toward Chris Simms joining the Bears six years ago.
Simms, then a hot quarterback prospect at Texas, had extended discussions with Bears general manager Jerry Angelo at both the Senior Bowl and NFL scouting combine. The Bears needed a quarterback.
"Jerry Angelo was very easy to talk to," Simms said. "He was always very respectful of my play in college, of my ability. And I have a great respect for him."
"Who wouldn't be interested or thinking about the Chicago Bears?" Simms posed. "For a guy like myself who has been around football a long time and loves tradition and all the stuff that comes with a great NFL franchise, the Bears are at the top of the list with the Green Bay Packers, the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys. They are right in that storied-franchise mix."
Simms said he'd relish competition for the starting role, but he'd feel alright being a backup. So, any takers?

I can live with Simms
A little competition never hurt, but Simms has had one average year surrounded by a bunch of below sub-par years (yes, they were that bad) so I’m not sure if he is going to be a star or anything.

Any QB who wants a shot at being a starter
who might not otherwise needs to express extreme interest in the Bears. It is just the quickest way back to a starting gig.

Chris Simms is drawing lots of attention from teams
I have to believe he will be presented a clearer path to being starter with another team versus the situation in Chicago with Kyle Orton in place. I would love to get Simms, but I don’t see it being in the cards.

You might be right about that.
Where do you think he might get a shot?

What teams?
I am j/w because it’s weird to me that at the end of training camp last year he was on the street and no one seemed to want him. Then VY got injured and the Titans signed him he was buried third behind VY and Collins. And now suddenly all these teams want him? WTF?

I think its in our best interest
Even if he isn’t too big an upgrade over Orton, he’s an upgrade over either of the back ups we had last year or right now. Plus he went to Texas. I like Texas (I do realize that just by going to Texas does not make him a superstar to be)

I agree with all your points
He can’t be worse than Rex. All he wants is a chance to compete, but he’s ok with a backup role. Doesn’t get any better than that.

If Simms is Angelo's attempt at "stabilizing" the QB position.
Then Angelo should just shut the F up, and never speak again.
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

Like my new quote says....
“We know it’s the most valuable position on the football team. We’ve gone through so many scenarios at that position we can write a book, moreso on what not do.”
Well… then stop doing the same thing you always do (signing crappy veteran QBs), and go get a real one.
"You win because of the quarterback. We have to get that position stabilized. We're fixated on that.
We know it's the most valuable position on the football team. We've gone through so many scenarios at that position we can write a book, moreso on what not do."

Too much faith
I mean, I wish he would do exactly as you said, but this is Jerry we’re talking about.

Hanie's a prospect
Why not give him a good look during the preseason?

Project does not equal prospect
Just like everyone thinks every small, white shortstop is David Eckstein; everyone seems to think that every undrafted free agent quarterback is Tony Romo.
Just like every other undrafted free agent quarterback, there is almost zero percent chance that Hanie is a real NFL quarterback. The reason why diamonds are valuable is that you hardly ever will find them, regardless of the rough you are searching.
