Free Agency Shake and Bake - Boldin, Gross, Asomugha

Asomugha_medium

This set of updates does affect the Bears more at least from the perspective of what the fans wanted them to do.

Nnamdi Asomugha - Asomugha signed a new deal with the Oakland Raiders.  The deal is worth a minimum of 45 million for three years.  The deal could go as high as 50.

Jordan Gross - Sorry guys, this dream is officially over.  Gross agreed to terms with the Carolina Panthers for six years.  The deal will dish out 30.5 million in the first three years.

Anquan Boldin - Apparently the Arizona Cardinals are winning their battle of chicken with the All Pro receiver.  Boldin's agent has informed the Cardinals that he would be willing to stay at the right price.

That leaves...

TJ at WR and maybe Vernon Carey (Dolphins tackle) who were not franchised as targets for the Bears.

Disappointing

Wasn’t real worried about Asomugha, figured he’d stay in Oak anyways but damn to Gross and Boldin. Probably the smartest decisions for both of them but this sucks. TJ is really looking good now.

yeah

because the Bears are known for making big free agent signings as well as blockbuster trades.

not to mention, we just used our first round pick on a left tackle, no way we’d sink money into Gross.

the only Gross this team has any hope of signing is Rex GROSSman.

Remeber

Lance Briggs said he wouldn’t play in Chicago again so maybe Boldin is about to journey down a similar path. But he hasn’t signed yet so there is still hope. But I’m not going to hold my breath on this one.

If things came easy, then everybody would be great at what they did, let's face it.

He'll sign

because he can either take a 6-8 Mil per year raise and long term security from Arizona, or huff and puff and demand a trade and risk that they keep him for 2 years at a couple mil per.

It kills me that players every year demand a trade and threaten to sit out when they have zero leverage.
