Holt Might Not Be The Only Ex-Ram

A report coming out of Indianapolis says that the St. Louis Rams cannot come to contract terms with OT Orlando pace. Pace has often been regarded as one of the best linemen in College and NFL history, but he's also 33 and was on injured reserve the end of 2006 and almost all of 2007. nevertheless, pace would be a great addition to the bears roster by providing a short term solution to tackle, while avoiding to pay a huge sum for the service of mediocre John St. Clair, while taking the ease off of loading on linemen in the draft.

We need

long term answers for our OLine. Pace would not be this.

Things will get better as they improve...

"You win because of the quarterback. We have to get that position stabilized. We're fixated on that.

We know it's the most valuable position on the football team. We've gone through so many scenarios at that position we can write a book, moreso on what not do."

No

At this point Orlando Pace is Fred Miller redux. Pace is all used up in the NFL.

I'm not so sure.

Depending on what his injury situation is he may be a very good acquisition considering we have some young o-linemen that could benefit from working with Pace. He may have a couple good years left.

We have coaches

who can teach our OLinemen. We don’t need Pace for that.

Your missing the point.

We NEED a solid o-lineman.

We do.

But you said yourself that Pace MAY have a COUPLE of good years left. We need long-term, and Pace isn’t that. Pace might not even be able to go anymore.

Then again, we are talking about the Bears… we may indeed bring in question marks to all of our positions of need.

But I didn’t think I was missing the point. You said that our guys could benefit from working with Pace. My comment was that we didn’t need him for that.

We need a solid experienced o-lineman, right?

Good, now we are probably going to take an o-line man with the 18th pick in the draft. So, we have Chris Williams and another rookie who may or may not be ready to start this year. Orlando Pace would be a solid experienced tackle to help out for a couple years. Especially considering what the young guys can learn from him. Of course depending on his health.

Hopefully,

we don’t draft an OLineman that will not start immediately.

Well you know how that goes.

Were not even sure if Williams is going to be ready to start. This is why I feel that Pace might be a good idea, if he is healthy. Williams is still a question mark.

Well

He should be rested up and ready to go after all that time off.

He'd be better than St Clair

for the 5 minutes he'd be on the field before he hits the IR

If John Paxson were a Greek hero he would be known as Sans Testicles
