from the eyes of a good reciever
came across this interview at the sun times site. For as long as I can remember, T.J has been a player many of us felt like would be a good fit in Chicago and from the sounds of it, he doesnt feel the same way. And as a fan of Grossman and Benson, I found this interview intruiging as well. He are some excerpts:
http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/02/houshmandzadeh_sounds_off_and.html
ON RON TURNER AND KYLE ORTON "I'm familiar with the NFL. I pretty much can tell you every quarterback and offensive coordinator through the league. I'm open to everything. I just want to win games, really, to be honest with you. Been playing eight years, really, and been to the playoffs, and I was one and done. So, I just want to win. I want to get on the big stage and play."
Houshmandzadeh:
ON CEDRIC BENSON WITH THE BENGALS LAST SEASON "Ced came in there. He did a good job for us, and Ced practiced hard, man. I don't know what the reputation he had in Chicago, but Ced practices really hard. Everything he does is full speed. It's so full speed to the point where in walkthrough; he's running guys over in walkthrough. He practiced hard, and he got a chance to play, and he did well. I don't know what happened; why things didn't go exactly the way they planned in Chicago, but a running back is only as good as his offensive line. So, Ced didn't have the success there that he would have liked, but he went to Cincinnati last year, and he did well. So, he might not be back. So, there's a lot to remain to be seen at what happens."
Houshmandzadeh:
ON HIS GUT FEELING OF WHETHER OR NOT CHICAGO WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR HIM? "No, I don't know. You know what's funny, man? Y'all probably going to laugh at me when I tell you this; I kind of like Rex Grossman."
Houshmandzadeh:
ON IF HE IS A FAN OF KYLE ORTON
Houshmandzadeh: "I don't know much about Kyle Orton. I know he went to Purdue. I know he played well as a rookie. I know he was a starter this year, and I know he fought his way back from an ankle injury because he didn't want Rex Grossman to play too well while he was hurt. He played well, though. He played well since his first year from starting compared to his rookie year. So, he did really well. I'm open to everything, I promise you that."
If you read the whole interview, it sounds like he's been trained on how to speak about the free agency issue. It also sounds like he would consider Chicago more if Rex was under center. I know thats been a debate around here for awhile now...With the current pieces, can the bears attract lucrative free agents...your thoughts on this and the article?

You're an Oklahoma fan
I would ask you what’s wrong with you, but there’s no hope :)
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
lol
yeah i am a fan of Benson the player….not the person. i liked him in texas, i was happy when we drafted him, and really believe it was two sided problem as to why it didnt work out in chicago.
Again why?
He complained about the O-Line, saying that is what caused his problems while a Chicago Bear. It is even mentioned in this article by T.J.. Oh wait, Forte just ran for over 1200 yards behind that same O-Line, only a year older. T.J. says that Benson is a hard worker, he really looked like a hard worker when last year any time he was touched by a defender he fell down. Oh wait, wasn’t Benson the player who had the crucial fumble in the Super Bowl, yeah that was Benson. He is arguably the biggest bust of all time, Do you like Ryan Leaf and Cade McNown also?
You’re a Texas fan I could ask what is wrong with you, but there is no hope. I don’t see how this or me being an Oklahoma fan is relevant.
are you kidding me?
He is arguably the biggest bust of all time,
This might be the silliest thing that I have read on this blog. And that is saying a lot.

Not that this year's OL was great
but it was far better than last year’s, when no one could get yardage and a different QB was consistently not forcing the D to account for the pass. Benson messed up a good chance, but that was one of the weakest offensive drafts ever, especially at the top.

To get back on track,
I think T.J.‘s a good receiver, but it’s obvious he’s not coming to Chicago.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
yeah it does look like that
the reason i posted this was because my original fear this offseason was that after the Moose comments, offensive players will be scared to come to Chicago, given the recent history of players.
I mean moose’s comments could have been, " Chicago is where offensive players go to die." Stigmas are hard to break in this league, and i have a feeling that our weapons on offense will have to come from the draft.
the real T.J.
you didnt hear thomas jones complaining about the line when he left. hhmm i wonder why ? was it the 1500 yards of total ofense he racked up before ced or maybe its the 1700 forte racked up after ced kinda makes u wonder
money talks
